No Smoking at Six Flags.

Too bad I missed the start of the thread.... My take on it? Everyone has their own vices.

I like a beer every now and then. The by product of my beer drinking habit is urine. So before you go blowing the by-product of your smoking habit on my person, consider whether you'd like the by-product of my habit on YOUR person.... ;)

This is the first news from Six Flags to make me consider going to one of their parks. Cedar Fair need to step up to the plate on this one.

^ Urine trouble now!
I am a smoker but I never smoke in Que lines but lets see if SF parks can inforce the rule because they have no problem selling them at 7bucks a pack. If there was no smokers in this country you would be paying about 6$ a gallon for gas because that would be the only taxes they could raise. This country was built by smokers as well as all the coasters we ride. I'm in the construction business and 90% of us are smokers. Why do you think casinos allow smoking because they would be empty if they didn't. The government would never shut down Philip Morris Inc.because of the billions they would lose.
Actually, Parks should have a virtual area for the people who need to GET REAL!

Chuck

DollyWood's been restricted smoking for years and it works well for them.
I'd find it hard to picture six flags enforcing anything. They'd have to hire a ton more people, and we all know that isn't likely to happen.

Designated area or no, ban or no, it seems like the real problem is people just not respecting each other and not respecting themselves. If people want to smoke in their own space, how is that my problem? If someone's smoking in line and I don't say anything will he/she stop?

Take responsibility and teach responsibility.

^ Agree TOTALLY...but responsibility begins at HOME...or at least that's where *I* learned it. I don't think most kids get it there anymore... :-/

Here I go sounding all conservative again, LOL...

That's because they're all dropped off at Six Flags w/o parents or supervision, taking advantage of the ridiculously low SP prices.

That's why I take it upon myself to teach some responsibility at a park. If I see someone doing something that they should know better than to do, I take it upon myself to say something. If the parents aren't going to raise their kids, I might as well do my part.

This countrty was built on slave labor and explotation of the little guy. Many *states* OTOH are run on taxes on smokers.

BTW: did anyone here know that beer is federally taxed as a "luxury item"?

This country was built on violence. Without that, we'd still be drinking tea and singing 'god save the queen.'

LOL, of course they'd tax BEER as a luxury item. Those guys on Capitol Hill drink WINE... ;)

LOL, I drink both....but suffice it to say that "exploitation of the little guy" is precisely the reason the taxes on beer and cigarettes are so high. They're called "regressive taxes"...

And don't even get me started on the negative income tax! ;)

Can't tell you what this country was built on, Some have been named already.

I can tell you what it runs on. Mine and your paycheck, Which in too many cases are either dissapearing or declining due to politicians and corperations that take advantage of countries devaluing their currency to give away your jobs.

Thats my public service announcement for the day

Buy American, If you still can.
Your job depends on it. (Well, Most of you)

Chuck

Charles, I agree about buying American when you can find it.

Here's a bright side: Cigarettes and beer are mostly American made, (Coors, Bud, etc.)

I'm new here, motivated because I'm a smoker. It has been horrible in the past trying to find out of the way places to smoke, blowing smoke away from the parents with strollers invading my out of the way space, being looked at like a serial killer for stepping out butts on the asphalt because there aren't ashtrays, etc. IF there are enough conveniently located smoking areas, great! But that's a big IF - I don't trust them to do it right.

I'm allergic to perfume, as are many people. I get migraines and seizures. Some get asthma. They're composed of toxic man-made chemicals that we don't even know about because they are trade secrets. Can we make it a no perfume/cologne park too? And stop those employees who think their sole job is to spray Glade in the bathrooms? Yet I would never tell someone to take a bath because their stench is killing me.

Let's hope they sell Nicorette in the shops!

^better yet, they'll sell 6Flags Deoderant!
Now you can smell like SuperMan the Escape! She'll swoon over Serial Thriller. She'll go utterly bonkers over Mind Eraser.
Only 22.00 bucks a bottle!

The deodorant isn't a bad idea. With a stand conveniently located in the queue for Mind Eraser. Perhaps with reps demonstrating its use and functionality.
^LMAO over thought of a demonstration.
That was good!

Actually Flying Scooter, There is a certan cool factor that thinks drinking a Corona or Heine is being cool. When just about any local micro brewry is better.

Just like driving the Nissan with the three thousand dollar rented wheels and ten thousand dollar motor and nitro package.

For the same $$ they could have the Vette with the Bose system and actually be cool.

Chuck, who actually likes the park brand deodorant and body spray idea. But then again, they'd want $25 for it.

^Wow, It's only been on the market for about 20 minutes and it's already gone up 3 bucks!
