No Coaster Con-SFGAM ?s

I'll give it a rest with my whining when you give it a rest with your fan-boy moderation of topics like this.
Chitown: On the whole, I'm happy with the additions. I'm definitely happy we're getting some modern flats. I just think they could have done without the mouse. If they really wanted a family coaster for SFGAm, I would have rather seen a larger (read: higher capaicty) ride installed another year and marketed by itself (ala SFGAdv's Skull Mountain). A smaller park in the chain could have really used the mouse, while SFGAm really *doesn't* need it. It really doesn't add anything to the park, and people aren't going to be happy waiting in such long lines for such a low capacity attraction.

BeastFreak: Sprocket Rockets most definitely has a max height limit. It's enforced rather sporadically (though more consistently this past season). The sign at the entrance keeps most people from trying.

Im not a big fan of any of the rides that are being proposed and will probably only ridce the mouse coaster of the ones mentioned.
But im not going to complain when the park adds attractions to the mix and the more rides that are offered (if all are run to capacity and staffed properly)will help to reduce lines thru-out the parks.
If a park cant be applauded for adding attractions then when can it ever expeect to get some kudo's from the public??
Some may not like the specific additions made but imho its hard to complain about a park that is giving us more things to do when alot of parks arent adding anything.

I'd rather see no coaster than this coaster. What will this do for the park? Absolutely nothing. SFGAm has a QUALITY coaster collection, and this ride will increase the quantity of the collection but decrease the quality.

Ok first of all you need to look at the big picture instead of being so close minded. This new mouse is going to be considered a "family coaster". Right now the only "step-up" coaster that SFGAm has is the Whizzer. Now we need to let reality sink in -- the Whizzer is on it's last leg and perhaps SFGAm upper management is thinking that when the time comes to take out the Whizzer (like say for this rumored floorless), then the GP of SFGAm won't complain as much, because they have taken care of the void that Whizzer's removal would cause. That is just my opinion, but I feel a very legit one. Case in point, WOF is just NOW filling the void that they created when they removed the Zinger. Spinning Dragons isn't replacing the Express, it is replacing the Zinger, as in they did not have a "step-up" coaster until now.

The second thing I have to say is that IF this mouse (a proven crowd favorite at many other parks) will make the quality drop at SFGAm, I'd hate to see what Deja Vu did to it. World's most expensive lawn ornament.

With 5 new rides, yea it will reduce the lines through the park, and also reduce the crowds in the midways. Last summer we were packed like sardines.

Plus I have never rode a wild mouse before I would like to see what one is like :)

I think after the outcry in 2002 to keep Whizzer in the park that the coaster will be safe for a while.

Deja Vu is a good ride when it operates. The Mouse will never be a good ride.

Well it may be safe for the time being, but if the cost to maintain the ride becomes more than what the ride is worth, then expect to see it ripped out. I'm not saying that the ride isn't a wonderful attraction, I'm just looking at the reality of the situation. SFGAm will now have a new family coaster in the park -- let's just say that this may be reason enough to stop investing the large amount of cash that it takes to keep Whizzer up. As for it not being a good ride, I beg to differ - but to each his own. Deja Valley on the other hand is closed more than it is open and how that could make a good ride is beyond me.

Those who are truly in the know have stated there are *not*, in fact, cost concerns with keeping Whizzer operating. And why should there be? Wieland (I believe, among others) supply parts for his father's rides.

We'll see how Deja Vu operates next year. I expect it will operate fairly regularly and efficiently.

I am really trying to figure out how that made any sense. What does me being a moderator have to do with my opinion of you complaining about adding attractions? Did I delete your post? Did I cut you off in any way? Did I prevent you from posting on this topic?

Please make some sense before trying to make a comeback.

At least Nate is constructive when he makes a case about the mouse being added.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

Will you guys give it a rest? You're going to get a Crazy Mouse(sounds like fun), a Huss Frisbee(Uber-Cool), and a Top Spin(mind-numbing upside-down time). Why can't you do the normal enthusiast thing and be happy at all the stuff. Why must you anylyze why it's a bad decision.

Other parks are getting hosed. Think of SFDL , which hasn't gotten anything good for four years. Most of SFAW's coasters are hand-me-downs or clones. They haven't gotten an original coaster since Mayan Mindbender.

If SFOG was getting this , I'd be exstatic! All three of those rides sound awesomely fun. The two new flats would be the best in the park. The new Coaster would give the Kiddies something to step up to. Right now, all they have is Mindebender, which has much to intense parts to be considered in the same category as Whizzer.

Don't Worry , Be happy. :)

Go ahead. Who wants to do their silly little attack on me first?

O.K. Aside from all that, I saw coasterqueenTRN's post about attendees going to Safari Land after the convention.

Is this something that is going to happen again this year with some of you? If so, post here. Maybe I can get out there to meet some of you and discuss what happened at No Coastercon.

I mean that you moderate SFGAm threads by defending the "fan-boy" position whenever Nate or anyone else disagrees with a move SFGAm makes or something that enthusiasts THINK SFGAm should or should not make. I've read numerous debates where Nate and others they think adding a Wild Mouse, for example, is a bad idea. You're quick to defend such a decision and you take the "fan-boy" position when this decision becomes reality. You constantly defend the position of adding anything to the park, even if it is a low-capacity attraction. It seems as if SFGAm could add a Guillotine to behead guests who are willing to pay for it and you would defend that move.

My argument is the same argument Nate is making. They are constructive.

a guillotine does not equal wild mouse

yet another stupid post with inane analogies... What's next? Will you call someone Hitler (thus invoking the Theory of Nobody)?

That being said, in response to Chitown and CoasterqueenTRN, at this point I'm up for hitting Safariland afterwards... Any other takers? *** Edited 1/6/2004 8:16:26 PM UTC by redman822***

If you had read the entire post you would have noticed that I never stated that there were currently cost concerns -- I stated that there is the possibility of being cost concerns (as in the near future). Also if his son is providing parts for these rides why is it that the Whizzer is the last one operating in the USA?

Oh, you rode it recently? There are many that say the same thing about V: TBC. This is a case of stating opinion as fact. You don't know that it will not be a good ride. And even if you did, it dosen't matter, The GP don't listen to you, and they're not paying you money to ride your rides.

Ya know...that "stupid spinning mouse" just might bring in enough families to pay for a really large, shiney new coaster next year.

As for No-Coaster Con...I'll be there! I hope you all stop by the S&D Greetings booth and say hello.

very good point Mamoosh....I like the way you think!

They might actually be planning ahead, the park is smarter in some ways, than we all think. And with the new GM who knows what to expect, I would say things are going in the right direction so far.

Now if SGAM had a upcharge attraction where people were be-headed, i would pay extra for that!!! It could replace the go-karts!!

Who is the new GM at SFGAm? I had no idea that there was a new GM. However I did know that there was a new PR person and I know who that is.
