For some reason I can't seem to get it to fail today. Naturally.

I think it's awesome that after all these years you still work to improve the software, Jeff. I can't stick to a project for longer than a month yet here you are continuing to poke at stuff you initially wrote 20 years ago.

Dumb question about the secondary post, but could you include small text that says, "Quote from <link to original post>"?

I think that's added complexity with little payoff. If you're quoting in context, you shouldn't need the entire original post.

OK. Sorry. I thought you were talking about including text from an original post in a different thread, in which case, it would be nice to be able to easily navigate to the original thread (like a citation).

Have any of you used the activity log. Ever?

Jeff - Editor - CoasterBuzz.com - My Blog

I didn't even know where the activity log was, until the question made me look for it.

So, obviously not (in my case).

Is the activity log different from the activity feed? I look at my activity feed regularly because I'm a worse upvote ho than I am a credit ho.

You're one of five users who have looked at it in the last month. I think it's going to go away, but it will eventually be replaced by notifications so you can enjoy your upvote whoring.

Totally overhauled up votes and viewing who upvoted. And a little surprise if you mess with it. 🙂 Go play.

Awesome, been wanting a way to delete accidental up votes forever. It's a weird sort of shame and regret that happens when everyone can see I specifically went out of my way to give someone's opinion validity when in fact I know in my heart I vehemently disagree with it.

I've noticed on this site in the "recent" view, when a new post is made and the New Posts icon highlights automatically, clicking on that icon returns an error. Clicking back and then on the icon again works fine.

Finally reproduced the issue this morning. Not sure if it's always the case, but this was the new topic created in News, it threw a 404:

Wondering if it has something to do with Chrome not being on the latest (see top right), I've never checked to see if it needed an update any other time this has happened.

Is that clicking on the icon or the topic title?

Icon. Once I get the error I can hit Back, click on the icon again and it works.

Going back will you get the non-dynamic update, so that makes sense. I just rewrote some of this yesterday, so it may already be fixed. On the test site, I opened two tabs. On one I kept Recent open, on the other I replied to a post. It appeared on the recent page, I clicked on it and it went as expected.

19 times out of 20 that's what happens with me as well. How long before the potential fix goes live here?

Jeff's avatar

I need to do a pretty wide full regression pass on it when it's closer to done. Hopefully in a week or two.

Jeff:

The first thing I'm trying to tackle is quote posting.

Hold on to your butts, because I just deployed the new version despite it's relative roughness. Y'all get to be the guinea pigs again.

Awesome, been wanting a way to delete accidental up votes forever.

And now you can.
