IMHO, I still think I would prefer TTD b/c of lapbars only.
Kris Wempa said:I would have already been on TTD but most of us in this area don't get out to CP so even if they have a ride VERY similar, it does us no good.
Yes, and that's why we keep saying the GP will eat it up. However, this board is comprised of mostly enthusiasts who do travel to ride the latest and greatest.
This is why you're seeing a "meh" reaction from a lot of folks around here, yet this ride is still a great decision for the park and will certainly be "successful" in the sense that it will 'wow' people and draw a crowd.
Bottom line - for many people around here, this is a "been there, done that" situation. For the average park goer, it's huge.
You're comparing apples and oranges.
Also, you can quotes/responses all in one post rather than doing a seperate post for every response. Slightly better etiquette :)

Hehe, right? No one bats 1000, I suppose and hey sometimes you flat out strike out:
BigD said on 9/17:Just got back. HUGE NEWS, AND I MEAN HUGE!. Massive supports have arrived on site, They are black and almost the diameter of TTD's tower. They have footer connectors so they will be for ANOTHER TOWER. They have begun tearing up the lot at the end of the construction site. It looks like they are prepping to put those huge footers in there. So we are looking at 2 tophats! These supports are MASSIVE. Also, They have brought in a few more launch tracks. We now have 15-16 launch tracks, 2 or 3 more than TTD!
Track for the pullout has also arrived. NO FLAT BUNNY HILL TRACK on site, So that was a lie. Anyway, HUGE update coming along with the STEALTH 1021 label.
And the only reason I'm so comfortable with poking fun is that I was very vocal about how sure I was that the pre-lift inversion wasn't coming on Hydra...
Sometimes you strike out :)

Even ignoring the physical aspects, most people feel 'less safe' when there is only a lapbar and no OTSR.
On the contrary, when I was a little kid, I thought if a roller coaster had OTSR's, it was scarier. I may be in the minority here.

This one WAS very clever....I love *editing* quotes, but I don't recall anyone before SUMMARIZING Dave's technical-ese so succinctly before...
However, IF you take the time (and the engineering) to really *comprehend* Dave's posts, you begin to understand how you COULD (if it were important enough) save wear-and-tear on the rides, the track, the trains, and...most importnatly, IMO...the RIDERS themselves...you know, those people we so loosely refer to as GUESTS....;)
You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)
Which has what to do with the point I made? Did you say absolutely nothing? Your correct ;) I smell a lame "I can't beleve you acsually liked that coster!111" war starting. "Draken Fire was sooo much betterer!111 stoopid" yeah, ok ;) *** Edited 10/1/2004 8:37:00 PM UTC by DorneyDante*** *** Edited 10/2/2004 12:48:56 AM UTC by DorneyDante***

COULD HAVE? Are you paying for the $32 million dollar ride? I doubt they want to shell out $40million for the coasters. They are in debt.
Ya know, its funny. They were in debt before the announcement, and your Overbanked Turn and all that, what has changed since the announcement to give you the right to say that?
Oh. Yeah. I remember. You threw a hissy fit and you were wrong. Thats right...

I actually DID read his post. I just didn't feel like quoting the whole thing. :) I understand his point. It makes sense.

Oh wow kill me because I speculated. I never said I was sure about it because I did not have any connections or inside sources to confirm anything. I just based it on the parts that were on site that time. Speculation, We all do it...Its kinda fun. Plus i was really excited once I got back from the site.
Oh and i'm sorry I havent been around 24/7 talking about the ride.

The second paragraph was more directed to readers *in general*....how MUCH I wish parks would take the time to read (and more importantly, comprehend) Dave's posts....it could do us ALL a lot of good...parks, ride manufacturers, everybody...;)
The only item Dave and I tend to disagree on is the *retractable seat belts*...he is UNDOUBTEDLY right about the ride experience...I'm more concerned about the insurance carriers/liability, and of course, dispatch times...
But the coolest part is...we can agree to disagree...:)
You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)
Its quite funny that you did have enough time to look @ the boards 24/7 to defend that overbank and tell everyone they were not at the construction site and didn't know what they were talking about, yet once the announcement made everything clear, now you don't have time to come back and face the people you argued with. Not only did you lose the argument, you lost alot of face with this.
It was funny, though, to sit back and watch you make an ass out of yourself. Esp. knowing a little more about what was coming that you did. Okay, maybe alot more than you, didn't want to sound so high and mighty, but maybe I will, just this once.
BTW, you just got served, or some crap...Mmmkay?
I just got to watch the vid for Kingda Ka (guess I should get this back on topic;)) on the hospital's T1 connection (I know, I'm bad!).
Wow! Just, freakin, Wow! Thats All I can say. And I'm not talking bout the coaster, as much as I like height and speed (not a jaded enthusiast here), I'm not as hyped about the coaster. But that video rocks, Keith & Co.! I freakin bow to you and your abilities. Infact, I'd hurt anybody that badmouths Badnitrus ever.
Makes me want to go to that school in FLa. even more to learn 3D animation. Anybody got about $25k to spare?;)
Keep up the freakin awesome work, that video was, as far as I'm concerned, as good as anything to come out of Hollywood, and better than alot of it!
Anyway, I speculated just like most other people did and I was wrong. Oops.

Something about not having a voice over (and some of the stuff that the voice over lends itself to: "From the top, you'll be looking 11 stories down on Millennium Force!") really makes the video feel....empty. Like I need someone to cheer me on or something.
I too, being a jaded enthusiast, am not that pumped about this coaster, even with it being in my back yard. Oh well, that won't stop me from having a rocking good time on it, come spring. *** Edited 10/2/2004 7:41:58 PM UTC by ApolloAndy***
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."
Suffice to say you were wrong. It happens. I was the one swearing Hydra didn't have a pre-lift inversion, and I'd seen blueprints...something I don't think you had the luxury with Kingda Ka. Imagine my surprise and embarassment...LOL ;)
Anyway, no harm no foul in this case as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure Brett, Beaver, and the others you argued with in that thread will let bygones be bygones.
mOOSH ;)
Height adv. Ka. 36 more feet and no 310 foot arch cancelling out the affect of the height.
Launch Acceleration adv. Ka usually faster and done in 3.5 seconds
Miscellaneous adv. Ka extra airtime hill
Theming anticipation adv. TTD sound affects unbeatable
Feeling of insecurity adv. TTD no harnesses just lap bar. drop straight down yikes!
Reliability adv. TTD around more. working well last year.
Anyone think differently?

RCT MASTER said,
"and how can you beat jungle theme?"
It's more the way the theme develops the anticipation. If TTD launched silently with no sound effects and you couldn't get right up next to it. TTD wouldn't be nearly as exciting. What can you do with a jungle theme. Make the train roar that's about it. With TTD you have smoke and the ride makes that screeching noize. Also you can't be right next to KA when it's at full speed from what I have seen from the video.
