While I agree with that statement, I think its a shame that metal gets the bad rep it so often does. Its okay to sing about constantly changing sexual partners, objectifying women, shooting people in the streets, how much money you have, and thats just a Justin Timberlake or Britany Spears record.
Metal (and I'm not a big metal fan, though I respect it) is more about pent up anger and rage. You rarely hear as much metal that is really just violent like you do other genres of music, it just sounds angry.
Its funny how you can talk about killing someone in your song and make it so happy and bouncy that people dance to it and smile. But talk about your feelings and discuss your anger, and just because you have hard hitting music and are screaming, you automatically worship the Devil.
It truly is a sick sad world.
Wait, is that what metal is? ;-) I thought it was about partying and getting laid. Oh wait, that's the 80's Metal Edge bands......
I remember when Poison was considered "satan music". LOL!
Personally I am a 100% *music* person and could really care less about lyrics.

Lately I have been listening to alot of Nickelback and early 90's stuff.
I should broaden my horizons and check out some of Danny's and Coasterpunk's bands. ;-)

Some interesting thing I found out a few weeks ago, Tom Araya of Slayer doesn't curse outside of the band, he's a devout Cathlioc, and is a family man with 2 kids. Who would have thought with song titles like Hell Awaits, South Of Heaven, an Altar Of Sacrifice.
Tom Araya of Slayer doesn't curse outside of the band, he's a devout Cathlioc, and is a family man with 2 kids.
Yeah, I'd have a bit of pent up rage if that were my life. It all makes sense now. :)
Speaking of 80's bands are you going to see Motley Crue next year when they go on tour?
I have Crue tickets... I hang my head in shame. :)
I just got home from seeing Hatebreed, Agnostic Front, Candiria, God Forbid, Full Blown Chaos, 100 Demons and a few other bands! I went to see the hardcore pioneeres AF but was amazed at how Hatebreed got everyone to move. I'm already looking forward to seeing Gwar again next month! :)
You'll be an interesting one to meet in person, Dan. I'll be sure to let you know when I'm going to Kneobles;).
Dan, as far as the "band experience" I was thinking the same......no real "meet and greet" just a quick photo and that's it.
It would be sorta like getting your picture made with Santa Claus. There would be a line and you would have a few seconds to talk to them before the photographer yells "Next!" :-)
Oh, I checked out the Prosthetic **** website. Very..........um, interesting. ;-) Disturbing, but funny nonetheless. The album covers are a riot! The soundclips will probably induce nightmares but it was fun listening. :-)

Speaking of Slayer, did anyone catch VH-1 100 greatest metal moments, they had one of Slayer almost kicking Biohazard off their tour as one of the members of the band walked in with crap (being nice) on his face.

Gonch, no need to hang your head in shame. I am envious! :-D
Heh. I plan on checking them out again when they hit Pittsburgh too. Now can I hang my head in shame?
Truth is, the Pitt show should be at the Ampitheatre and I kind of want to see them in an indoor setting. Cleveland's show is at Gund, so consider me there.
I always wanted to see them as a kid but never got the chance. I don't expect the hip-replacement Mick era of 2005 to touch the Tommy spinning drum kit after mainlining coke and JD era of 1987 - but you take what you can get in life. :)

To think gangster rappers here in the US think they are bad.
I wasn't very happy with the #1. Hear N'Aid who even remembers that? #1 should have been Dio inventing \m/ "THE HORNS" \m/ instead of #3. You can't go to any concert without seeing people throwing up the horns!
Motley Crue is Motley Crue even if they are all old, fat, and balding. Only if they would be playing dressed like the "Shout At The Devil" days with the leather, and makeup! then again who wants to see fat dudes in leather.

I saw them twice during the "Dr. Feelgood" tour which was awesome. I think that was about the time they all went sober (or first real attempts to go sober) , or something like that. lol.
We were talking about the Crue's old videos/songs today at work, laughing about them of course. Remember "Looks That Kill" with the flying pentagram and everything?
Still love the songs (especially LiveWire from their first album) but I just wonder if the band cringes at those old videos now. They are funny to watch, especially MOtley's "Uncensored" documentary.

That ranks up there with Ratt's Round and Round video where the guitar player fall thru the ceiling only to land on a familys table while they are eating dinner just as it's time for him to play his solo!!! :)
MTV needs to break out these old classics!
