NEW SDC RIDE CONCEPT SURVEY! WOW!

I would agree w/ Talon, I mean B&M did a great job w/ Wildfire. Just think what a 150 foot invert by B&M would be like soaring over the Mountains. With 5 inversions.

But I also agree that the "Suspended Looping Coaster" is just that, an SLC. Built by a company who wouldn't do have as good of a job as B&M would.

But those stats sound similar to a certain coaster. . . 150, 5 inversions??

Gosh I HATE the thought of an SLC at SDC! UGHH! But I don't think it will happen for one major reason. SDC's roller coasters nearly always have to be a custom design because there is NO flat land! Well a basic SLC takes a portion of land that is nearly flat. SDC does NOT have this! Because of that it would have to be a custom design. Well Vekoma no longer does custom designed SLC's! Remember?! O BTW Intamin also refers to thier Inverts as SLC's.

But remember SDC is known for using words easily understood by the GP to explain how a ride works/is. Well Suspended looping Coaster is easier for the GP to understand compared to an Inverted. Also that picture means nothing! So it shows a Vekoma. They have used that picture many times showing other rides. Remember in the artist rendering for BuzzSaw Falls the track was wooden. SO No I doubt they would get a Vekoma SLC. SDC stated that One of the reasons they bought Wildfire from B&M is because they knew people wouldn't be in pain after riding it. SDC wants rides that even some of the elderly will brave and not regret that they did!

So No SDC most likely won't be getting a Vekoma SLC. I'm pretty sure that when is says SLC it means a B&M! O BTW when DollyWood built the Tennesse Tornado they weren't originally going to go with arrow but Arrow promised them a glass smooth ride for a cheaper price. See SDC Inc. was worried about head banging! And Arrow delivered! Thank GOD! Smooth baby Smooth! SO Vekoma is a NO GO! At least I hope! Hell they could suprise us though.

But with the relationship they had with SDC with Wildfire I don't see why they would go with another company. Especially one known around the coaster circut as terrible! And remember Dolly Wood was talking with B&M about an Inverted this was confirmed by SDC Inc. at the Spring Conference. Well maybe they have decided that they might move it to SDC! Who knows besides they may decide against installing this ride. But whatever it is as long as it ain't Vekoma I will be happy!

I think its VERY cool that SDC would even offer such a questioner. I like the idea of a park to get feedback of the park guests for the their next attraction. I think more parks should offer this kind of survey. And Find out what their guest truley want and make them feel that they count in some way. VERY COOL SDC !

WOOF !

Wildfire01, you took the words right out of my mouth...Just because the park says suspended looping coaster doesn't mean it's going to be from Vekoma. The GP have no clue what the hell an "inverted" coaster is. Suspended they know, looping they know, and coaster they know. Simple as that.

True enough Joe....but the *precise wording*....does make me think of an SLC. Specifically, the word "suspended" implies under the tracks, as does "inverted". But Vekoma calls it's inverteds by the name suspended, no one else uses that term except for Arrow suspended coasters, and none of them can invert. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, or if I'm not, that they go another way....there's enough SLCs in the world as is...;)

Okay good deal NOW YOU ALL DRILL AND ASK LIKE NUTS! You should be able to at least figure out a definate year they want to do this! YAY! O AND MENTION THAT IT WOULD BE A TERRIBLE SHAME IF THEY EVER BUILT ANYTHING FROM VEKOMA IN AN SDC PARK! <G>=GRIN! I wanted to go to the ACE Midwest Coaster Blast Sooo bad but I will be at camp that week so I have to miss it! *CUSS* LoL

Yes and this is Nathan who wants a Suspended Launched coaster with a water ending. Instead of the sitdown! I don't know how they would do a water ending with an Inverted coaster but I am sure SDC could think of something. LoL But yeah I will be happy with anything! Ohio you better watch out Missouri is on your tale! Okay well maybe not but were trying! LoL

Instead of voting in hopes for a B&M , maybe we could all play it safe and get SDC a launched watercoaster?

P.S. I want all of them.

Son of Beast Broke My Glasses. The Beast made my elbow bleed. I don't think their family likes me.

I agree with that. If you are going to vote, Dont vote for the stupid toboggan ride. we alread have one of those.

I wish I could be going to the MWCB too, but saturday's my b-day, so it was a no go. But Jim, you need to get something out of them. Maybe they'll have a model on display.

Plus, what do you think this means about the woodie... would it, no, could it be next year?
We all know HFEC is making big bucks this year with WWB, CC, and SDC, so they can obviously afford something new... Has anyone seen land clearing in SDC or CC?

Sugart said: 200 foot vertical setpoint? The only coaster that I can think of that climbs 200 feet vertically first is Deja Vu, and this sounds nothing like that. This has got to be something new and innovative
I think they're talking about an elevator lift system like
those found on several Caripro rides like the one at PKI
or Legoland. The car remains in the upright position on a small
piece of track that is lifted vertically. It's not at all like
Deja Vu.

I agree with Chuck, this would be a capacity nightmare.

I also agree with Chuck and the above post.

From the picture it is obviously either going to be a Setpoint or Caripro. Just look at the track. My question is does anybody know which of the two companies builds the cars that are shown in the picture. I'm pretty sure that all of the pictures of the several models that Caripro offers didn't show a 4 across suspended, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be done.

While I think that the ride is a great concept, it would definately be a capacity nightmare. I wonder what kind of track length they are thinking of for this thing. It could end up having a whole mess of blocks on it. But still the time it takes to raise up the car vertically 200 ft. then the lifting mechanism return to the loading station would definately determine the capacity of this ride. Maybe double life hills? Either way I'd prefer either of the other two coasters.

I caught something:
"Suspended Coaster with Inversions - A Looping Suspended Coaster Winding Through the Ozarks. "
It never states 'Suspended Looping Coaster' ...
so we may be in luck.

So is it a go or no go for the woodie next year?

And Coaster Bill even more good news! I did some research and the height of a Vekoma SLC is from 102 to 115 feet tall and no taller! The ride we are speaking of is 150 ft tall much larger than your average SLC! So since Vekoma no longer sells custom SLC's this cannot be a Vekoma! WHOOOO! Its a B&M! I'm sure! But I would take an Intamin too!

THE SCARIEST PART OF THE RIDE IS THE LIFT HILL!

I like these concepts.SDC and the HFE chain as a whole is moving forward (moving away from all the kiddie rides and crafts built over the years)

But please let Dollywood get it's first B&M before SDC gets it's second!

------------------
Can you feel the thunder?
Thunderhead comes to Dollywood in 2004!

Hey, Dollywood is gettin Thunderhead next year. Are you saying you would rather have the B&M instead of that...
wait, I guess I would probably choose the B&M, but GCI did a great job on the Ozark Wildcat. So I'd have mixed feelings.

Is it just me, or did anyone else completely forget about CC, and the fact that they could still build a pretty good ride... hmm.

You know you're right I think we are forgetting CC! I mean there opening year has been outstanding in attandance! It has far exceeded what they even hoped so I am sure it will get a new ride next year! You know its exciting to see that we finally have parks that are doing something! Who would have ever thought Missouri could ever have been a threat! But the coaster wars are here and its about time we jumped in but it looks like we are REALLY! jumping in! YAY! And with SDC at the lead you know it can't be bad! And what of that wood coaster could it be coming next year? I HOPE!

Swoosh...maybe I'm just *blase* about Beemers...something to do with my location, I'm sure...;)

Besides, Hershey seems to be doing just fine with multiple GCI creations...:)

Man, its too bad the only time I went was on vacation, and it was the year before Wildfire too! I'm strting to think that whenever I only go to a park once, they get some famouse thing the next year(as you may know, I went to Univesal the year before IOA was added...)
