I was there on Saturday. No footers, just some more cleared trees near the last turn of the train when it comes back to rivertown and even more trees down near Diamondbacks first drop and pink flags sprouting up more. There is also visible construction machines (Backhoe, etc) on the site, so things are really starting to ramp up.
since I don't know how to post pictures on here, here is a link to my KI facebook page where I posted some construction shots (moderators, please remove if not allowed): www.facebook.com/Kings-Island-Past-Present-and-Future-247739365237806/
Will be fascinating to see the final product. It looks like this will have a major impact to the look and feel of Rivertown, but then again, after Tomb Raider and Diamondback, that ship has largely sailed. I guess I also wonder if a new large woodie in this area make it actually make the area feel more or less than the Rivertown of my late 80s / early 90s childhood nostalgia. One of my favorite memories of KI was the way as a kid, the walk back to White Water Canyon felt like a journey wayyyyyy back into the woods that went forever and ever.
I would say that, barring an improbable resurrection of Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal (a guy can wish), the addition of a woodie in the woods would be the attraction most likely to maintain the feel of Rivertown.

A buddy of mine went to the park today, and he told me that he saw some steel poles. When I asked if they were like Diamondback's supports, he said no, that they were like something they would build the station with.
I don't know what it means. Just thought I would share.

On KIcentral, someone posted they saw the first batch of wood being delivered. Not sure if this is for project 2017 or for the Action Theater project. I would bet that it's for project 2017.
Kings Island is making their announcement for 2017 next Thursday July 28th at 10 p.m.
Dale from Dayton
My guess is that it's a GCI woodie called Wendigo. It dives beneath the railroad and has a drop like Prowler.
No, it's going to be called Dimondback 490. Tallest roller coaster in the world, replacing Dimondback.
Hey, let's ride (random Intamin coaster). What? It's broken down? I totally didn't expect that.

Dragon Wagon.
First wooden one.
Eventually to be re-imagined by RMC.
The trick was to surrender to the flow.
They will be live streaming the announcement tonight shortly after the 10:00 PM fireworks.
