I'm not even supposed to be here today!

I’ve ridden 6 RMC creations and all of them were easily the best rides in their respective parks except Wicked Cyclone which was a very close second to Superman. Even Joker (SFDK) and Railblazer which are mediocre for RMC’s are still easily 4 star rides.

I’ve ridden all but 12 of the top 100 and hope to get that number down by the end of the year.

I tried to count em but it was hard because math. Anyway, it was a much higher total number than I thought it would be, and I think I’m only missing 9. Or 11.

I have 69 right now. I think I was up into the 80’s around the late 00’s before they started making all these new coasters (and my wife started making new people).

I’m concerned that you didn’t say “my wife and I.”

I can’t in good conscience call my contribution a significant part of the making of new people. I guess I’m the Bolliger to her Mabillard but I have no hand in fabrication or construction. (Now, erection on the other hand...)

Neat. Nemesis enters the Top 100. First coaster outside of North America I reckon. Unless I'm missing one.

Ecstatic to see Nemesis not only in the top 100 but top 20. Funny b/c I was thinking about Nemesis and Banshee before I read the latest posts in this chain (was reading someone's trip report to Dorney on another blog and Banshee came up in relationship to Talon), trying to decide which is my favorite invert.

I’ll go with Black Mamba for now. I haven’t tried Nemesis, so presently Black Mamba sits at the very tippy top of my invert list. Fast, tight, and oh-so close. Thrilling.
But I guess we need a few more ‘Buzzers to head over to Phantasialand for it to make an impact here.

I'm excited that Nemesis made the list. It's good to see some European representation on there. I'm hoping a few more of the well-known European classics, such as Expedition GeForce, pop up in the not-too-distant future.

I’m hoping to get to Holiday Park& Alton Towers next year so hopefully I can rank them and we’ll be a step closer.

...and 12 years later, Goliath at LaRonde makes its debut! Despite the dreadful reviews I read about LaRonde, it's one of the parks I most want to visit. Cool to see another non-US ride make the list!

I have a couple of parks on my list that, in spite of a redeeming ride or two, rank as the worst I’ve ever visited. LaRonde is one of them. The only reason I visited that God-forsaken place a second time is because Goliath was new to me. For a “medium” sized B&M, I thought it was great. However, one train, slow-as-snails operations kept me from riding as many times as I might’ve. And by that I mean even twice. Ugh.

Now, you know Six Flags ain’t havin’ that. :)

I tend to judge parks by the overall experience, including appearance and thematic elements. LaRonde doesn’t hold itself out to be a theme park, though, and that would be fine if it had more elements of what makes a traditional park great. Expanded from what was the amusement zone of Expo 67, it’s grown into a hodgepodge of rides with awkward placement, along with an unkempt appearance, and it just seems to lack an identity. To my eyes, chain link fences, crappy pavement, and weird (or no) landscaping attribute to the overall feeling of neglect. The layout is terrible with many dead ends and paths to nowhere. Modern rides are mixed with some really old ones. Once again, I don’t have a problem with vintage rides, but their’s just look old and crappy.
I thought I had chosen days when the park wouldn’t be very busy, but on both visits there was a long line to get in. (They have a single switchback queue out in front, leading to the ticket booths and the gate, which took forever.)
Goliath is their best coaster and I’ve only ridden Monstre once- on my first visit I waited an hour for each side with one train operation. On my second visit the ride was down all day.

But enough about that, the thread is about the top 100 and I’d agree that Goliath should make the list. (Even though it was clear in every way that it was intended to be a Superman coaster, maybe even originally destined for another property.)

I only have 20 of the top 100, but I did get multiple rides on number 1 in August, and I am extremely happy with that. Though if I had to choose between a return to Cedar Point and Holiday World, I'd go back for more tip-top wood.
