My journey through life as an enthusiast.

One thing I have learned after visiting 40 parks and riding 200 roller coasters in two years is unless you have family or friends to share it with, it isn't a whole lot of fun. For me the thrill's over, and since I do not have any friends or family, I have very little desire to go to parks anymore. I tried ACE to meet people, but they are a complete joke of a club full of old, fat, and mean spirited people unwilling to talk to you. I will probably go back to playing golf (by myself as always). That's my short and pathetic journey as an enthusiast.

^Criticizing folks based on what they look like and their age probably won't get you far in special interest groups - or around anyone for that matter.

I'm an ACE member, and although I need to loose a few pounds, I'm certainly not dumb or old. I'm also willing to talk to people, but it's certainly not my job to make sure everyone is being talked to. Judging a group based on your perception of a few people's behavior - well, ... someone else can say it better than me.

May I suggest Holiywood Nights next year at Holiday World. It's a good cross-section of people and different clubs.

Been there, done that, have no desire to go back. Yawn.

Take it from an old guy who has been around... Life is mostly what you make of it. Attitude is everything. A lot of situations in your life can be turned around with just a little bit of effort.

I'm not saying that it's easy, because I have trouble turning things around for myself sometimes, but when I do, I realize that what really helped it come to be was to delete everything negative from inside me where that part of my life was concerned.

And this has to do with what? Riding roller coasters?

If you want it to be about coasters, yes. :)

Interesting.

Well described.

On the other hand, you don't have to be an enthusiast to be short and pathetic. But it helps.

The question bears asking..

Why does someone who feels that coasters are no fun, the people associated with them are old, fat and a bunch of meanies not only make the effort to sign up here, but also pay for membership?

Enquiring mind want to know..

Just another Mike..

PEP III, not to sound mean spirited here, but it doesn't sound like the people who hang out at golf courses are any younger, thinner, or friendlier if you're by yourself as always there too.

I joind this club out of sheer boredom. The same reason the person who started this thread probably joined. Anyway, roller coasters are fun and can be intimidating when you first get into them. But when you have ridden as many as I have in a short amount of time, it's less and less of an experience to the point where at times alot of the fun isn't there anymore. It's even worse when you don't have anyone to share it with. Becaue part of the fun is talking about the ride and seeing them scared.

Could someone call Kathleen and find out if she has any licks left on her Xanax? I feel it could come in handy here...

;)

^How many licks DOES it take to get to the center of a Xanax?

Phillip, I feel for you. Most people here are pretty nice. You should try to get to know some of us. I am sure someone here would go to a park with you. I would. I'm not "that" old. I have only met a handful of people from CoasterBuzz in person, and they are really cool, except for Jeff (just kidding). ;)

If you don't like the people here (I'm not implying that you do or don't), you can get to know people on other forums. Negative-G is a good one that has some cool people, and there are a lot of park-specific forums as well.

I grew up without knowing anyone who even remotely liked roller coasters, yet alone want to actually have a conversation about them. That's why I love CoasterBuzz so much! ♥

And maybe some medication is in order for your mood. Billy can give you a hug too, if that will help. :)

That's one space error away from the fun being about stalking and seeing them scared.

Hell, I've never had even a remote desire to join ACE for a plethora of reasons...but these sound like my people!

You don't have to feel for me LostKause, I take full responsibility for my lifestyle and the mistakes I made in my life. I can't even blame my father who I havn't seen in over a decade. It's just difficult at 38 years old to make changes.

I guess I like to play golf when I'm not working because I like the exercise. I'm actually what's called a walking golfer and have probably walked over 300 rounds of golf in the last 10 years. That's the only reason I would call golf a sport because you do have that option on most courses. It beats having to wait six hours in lines at amusement parks and getting about ten minutes of roller coaster pleasure. I would think for most coaster enthusiasts this would become less tollerant the more you ride. It is for me.

OBTW I have tried Xanax and alot of other drugs I don't care to mention. Xanax sucks.
