Mom not pleased with Playboy bunny logo poster as amusement prize

Posted | Contributed by Junior

Kristine Severn said her son, Trevor, won a Playboy bunny logo poster while playing a dart game last Friday on a field trip to Oaks Park, an amusement park in southeast Portland. When her son brought it home, she called Oaks Park and asked why an 11-year-old would be given the poster. Severn said she received the run-around and that Oaks Park told her that they do not run the games.

What kind of reaction did you expect from people here? I suggest you go back to your friends at the Harper Valley PTA if you want to spread gossip

Haha, showing our age are we? Well if that is the case maybe these kids need to move to Peyton Place. Doubt if either of them even know what that is without the use of google ;-)

Harper Valley PTA? Oh man I haven't thought about that show since I was a little kid. I thought I blocked it out. Now my head hurts. ;)

There was a show? Heck, I was thinking about the original song (for some reason, I started humming the tune to myself while reading gracie sue's and jaime jo's posts :) ).

Yep, phoenixphan, I'm showing my age. I still remember that album cover with Jeannie C. Riley in her mini-skirt and hair piled high holding that nasty letter from the PTA her poor little girl handed her. Scandalous, I tell you. Scandalous! Funny you should mention Peyton Place-- who's been in the news lately? Mia Farrow and Ryan O'Neal. See old things don't ever go away completely.

Sometimes the old playthings are the most fun... wait do I need to quote Stewie Griffin on that? I have that old album, still plays in HI FI quality like it was new! lol

Aha. Seek and ye shall find.

I bet this lady in Oregon had the same look on her face when she saw the poster her kid brought home from the park.

Interesting thing about Jeannie C. Riley....unless she has changed a different tune in recent years ( sorry for the pun LOL ) she no longer claims to have done that song. Years ago ( 1992 ) she was in my hometown for a concert. Of course everyone wanted her to sing Harper Valley, but she kep avoiding it that is until about 30 minutes into the show some guy stand up and says "..come on lady..just sing the damn Harper Valley song !!" Riley just stood there for a minute and then says that she couldnt because that song "goes against my faith".

Within minutes everyone walked out leaving Jeannie C. Riley all alone on stage.

Come to think of it..the movie Harper Valley PTA with Barbara Eden..I think there was a scene or two that was done at an amusement park..maybe a carnival. Its been a long time though.

Well yeah, I'm obviously not doing a haiku....

Obvious to anyone who still listens to Green Day...

(I had to look that up, btw.)

No offense. I still listen to a lot of old bands who are still trying to stay current as well.

This is why I now live in Japan (it's a good thing, I just got back from Yomiurliand & Fuji-Q)....because America is the land of entitlement, where any one has the right to complain and usually has the right to a settlement. Whatever happened to 'oops,' or 'it's an accident,' or even better 'who cares.'

Though being an American, I have a complaint of my own: Why would such a loser (the mom) be allowed to have children?

^I ask myself that everyday, especially when I am out in a public place. People scare me. :)

As far as I can tell, we don't know anythig about this person's qualifications to be a mother beyond the fact that she has complained that her son won a Playboy bunny poster at an amusement park. I don't think that's enough to judge her fitness as a parent.

As a parent myself, I'm not about to throw stones from here in my shiny glass house.

People are quick to judge instead of trying to understand that most people, "stupid" or not, try to do the best that they are able to do. I do not understand why we carry so much hatred around with us, because when you learn to just let it go, you become that much happier.

lol...

Never considered that I might be a hippie, Josh. That explains almost everything...almost.

That's pretty much what I expect an old fart like you to say, Moosh.

So Moosh, let's liven things up around here. Have you ever read an issue of Playboy? I never even as much as held one in my hand, yet they seem soooo popular...lol

Everyone in America has the right to try and live a fulfilling and happy life, as long as it doesn't interfere with anyone else right to do the same. This includes so-called losers. If our government ever instates a law that made having children illegal without your approval, you'll win the CoasterBuzz Best Argument award. If it never happens, guess that makes you a...that's right, a loser...lol

(High fives myself to show that I am being goofy right now. It's kind of fun.)
