Maverick work has begun

The s-curve looks really neat. Looking forward to the TRs on this.

I give [a Saturday opening] about a 0% chance of happening. I say June 1st is the earliest possible.
I stand corrected. Incredible turnaround.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!
I guess the question is who is going Saturday?

Bolliger/Mabillard for President in '08 NOT Dinn/Summers

The more I look at it, I think I like the new s-curve thing better than the heartline. I meant, the heartline LOOKED cooler and definitely was a great photo spot. But, one of the reasons I love CP so much is their lack of inversions. So, if that thing was going to hurt, more power to them taking it out. :)

It looks like there might be a slight pop of air on there too.

I think the Heart-Line looked awesome. But there are many rides that are visualy appealing but are very uncomfortable. I would much rather ride something that is comfortable than something that looks cool.

I wonder how soon they'll update the animated banner on the site. You would have to think they'll add Mavy in the mix of it.

"the only thing I know is that life is short and the only time you've got left is luck"
They already did update the banner! :)
Now THAT'S what you call haulin A. Impressive!

That's too funny 'cause I was there no more than a couple hours ago or so and the banner was the same-old, same-old. I even tried zooming in thinking it might be hidden somewhere...

....and then whaala! There it is. Joy!

Now let's hope the ride is just as sweet.

Correct me if Im wrong but I thought I read somewhere that the state of Ohio requires a minimum of two weeks of testing before the ride is allowed to open. Since its been modified the old ride testing doesnt count for those two weeks, so that means that Memorial day is out the window and the ride should open late in the first week of June in time for the 9th/10th weekend.

So much for that theory guy;) Now we can only hope that the thing runs for more than 15 minutes a day. *** Edited 5/25/2007 6:02:42 PM UTC by Superstew***

Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions !
just got back from the ride, Maverick is a ride like no other, the airtime hills are, "superman quality," the drop is pretty good, the launch is amazing, and i am a personal fan of the 2nd half of the ride. Before the line was even open to the general public..it was back to gemini, another great cedar point coaster, only time will tell the overall effect it will have on the industry..

o yea the s-curve..well every ride cant be perfect...

You go through there so fast, I can't imagine what that inversion would have felt like.

....uhhhh....the best part of the ride!! Sorry....

You know this how? No one here rode it. If they didn't take it out and people were getting slammed through the element, you'd have done nothing but complain about that too. They wouldn't have taken it out arbitrarily. It wasn't a budget cut, more money was spent to remove it and the opening was delayed. Why so many people insist they know it would have been great is beyond me. It was visualy, Very cool. But that doesn't mean it would have been comfortable. You fly through that canyon. If you did a 360 roll, IMO, it would have felt like you were trying to be ripped out of the train.

While I agree saying it would be the best part of the ride is speculation, I say that I think it would be because it would add more to the affect of the prior second tunnel launch...I mean, that second launch should be building you up to a crescendo, and instead the ride right after the tunnel is a little underwhelming...just my opinion...and luckily for me banging around is something that doesn't bother me, and it's speculative to say that the heartline roll would have caused banging around as well...but congrats on getting Maverick's first rollback!! I always thought with it getting a little slower right before going over the first hill might cause a rollback and it did!!

I'll write up a quick review later tonight, but I was lucky to get two laps, one in the back, on the front, just before they opened this morning.

The ride is a winner, hands down, and judging by all of the smiles and screams with every train that comes back, the public seems to agree.

NO surprise to hear that this ride is a winner Jeff. Glad and a bit jelous you've already found this out first hand. My time will come in a couple of weeks.

Can't wait to a more detailed review from you. Did you get any video of the ride operating?
