Alpengeist. Its a ok coaster but the more compact quick action Inverts do a lot more for me.

Yes. This.

If they go Inverted and they go big...meh. Inverts work best a quick, tight little rides that leave you wanting more.

Well, there's nothing quite so satisfying as setting yourself up for certain disappointment.

Lol, I said "I'm sure it won't be." It would be completely retarded to expect a B&M invert over 200', just like it would be retarded to expect any roller coast over 500' in the next 10 years.

The "best invert in the World" according to many....is a mere 42.7' tall - Alton has to remain below the treeline. The same park is setting the record for most inversions, and Smiler is <100'.

Height is WAY overrated....

Considering so many enthusiasts don't care about height, I wouldn't consider it as overrated at all. It's just...rated, lol. I personally love it and don't care about anything else on a roller coaster besides that. I know I'm in the extreme minority, however. Thank Christ the height wars existed for the entirely too brief period that they did and spawned some tall ass rides as a result, especially at Cedar Point. It's really surprising to me that rides like Intimidator 305 and Leviathan have come to fruition at all.

Also, why is their new ride called "Smiler." What a bizarre name. And what the hell is with those parks across the pond making ridiculous rides like Saw and now this.

Guess you need to know the backstory.

I dunno. Looks pretty damn good to me.

Damn, I'm an ignorant fool.

Arrow was purchased by S&S. If you have the money, I'm sure they'll build you one.

Yeah, S&S was purchased by Larson, then Sansei purchased a 77% stake in that, so now it's S&S Sansei apparently. But they did just build another 4D, and at IAAPA, they announced a few new concepts, and they're building at least 2 new El Loco coasters (One at the Adventuredome in Vegas).

I think many of X2's problems were solved with the new trains it got a few years ago.

Just rode X2 in December. I love the ride, but it still bounces like rubber. And video of the other 2, including the just opened one in China, shows the same thing.

Chuck, who says the upper six and seven figure salaries of The Bigger Parks managements suck much of the enjoyment out of them for me.

Because when I'm out at a Theme Park/Amusement Park, I'm thinking about the salaries of the employees all of the time too. Seriously, Chuck?

I don't think there is an adequate response to this big box of crazy.

All subjective, of course. But I've always been curious why most people seem to feel this way. I like the Batman clones, but they're at the bottom of the invert pile for me, primarily because of their intensity. Alpengeist is at the top, followed by Talon and Afterburn. I like tall, fast rides, and seating or train configuration doesn't really affect that. Why don't inverts have more airtime moments? Fire Dragon's airtime hill is really cool.

I admit Alpengeist's ending is pretty lackluster, but the rest of it is so good I tend to overlook that. I guess I just don't get why, just because the train is below the track, all the elements have to be tight and "snappy" or it's an inferior invert.

Talon & Afterburn would be my top 2.

And Fire Dragon would round out the top 3 Inverteds. Interestingly, I'd put them all in my top 10 or 12.

No idea why we don't see more air on Inverts. You're right, that one hill on Fire Dragon is great and even Talon has a similar little airtime hill as you dive into the finale that's pretty sweet.

Yeah, Every time Im paying 6 dollars for a coke or 13.99 for a single roll of film (Second one no longer a issue) But yeah, They put one in ya every chance they can. It honestly doesn't bother me when Im at Kennywood or other parks to pay a few bucks here and there and I usually spend more that way but give me sticker shock more than once a day and I'd just rather not give them anything and walk to the car.

Right Chuck. All that money is going to the CEO. Not being reinvested back into the parks that build 25 million dollar rides. Funny, the cheaper parks don't do that. Not that I'm opening up a quality vs quantity debate here. Just pointing out a fact.

So the park makes 350 million a year and invest a average back in it of 12 million a year average. Humm Gotta be those rides............

Yeah, they should invest 100 mil on 4 brand new coasters a year because that always works out so well.

And never pay employees. Or maintain anything.

^^^^ The $350m figure is for ALL of the CF parks, not just Cedar Point.

And, IIRC, CF as a whole spends about $80-90m per year on capex. It also pays down the debt is accumulated buying the parks that generate that $350m.
