Kings Island new Coaster 2014

Gonch seems to like the same inverts I do, for the same reasons. Patriot and Silver Bullet both have some of that "float"...Montu has a small dose near the end of the ride, but its taken at too high a speed to really appreciate it (IMO).

How awesome to have an invert with three or four non-inverting sections spaced throughout the ride...turns and/or hills......*hint* :)

Magnum update/correction for Marvin and anyone interested...

Went today and rode three times. Third car second row was great. Very smooth (for Magnum anyway), great airtime on the bunny hills.

Sixth car first row (brother's choice) was actually ok. Little more intense of course, you get yanked over the hills and whipped around the turns a bit. But really not that bad and still decent airtime.

Third car third row was bad though. Maybe I'm not remembering my rides in previous years correctly, it's been a few years since I rode. But really rough on the back going over all the hills.

So I guess I'd say stay away from the last row on any car, and my favorite seat is still third car second row. Keep hands up on return bunny hills for great airtime and don't put the lap bar down too tight or it'll be rough on the thighs.

Got a platinum pass, may try and make it down to KI this season. Or wait til next year, curious to see what they'll be building.

No, that's CP and Gate only income. Of course the park probably has a 30 million operations budget. 12 million reinvestment's. Im not knocking it, Just saying the Debt, Corporate Heads and Investors demand a higher profit margin.

All Im saying is for me being enjoyable would be having 4 cokes a day at a hundred percent profit, Never thinking in the back of my head Im being ripped off and enjoying my cokes vs Buying one Coke at a 600 percent markup and saying, WOW, I worked 20 minutes to buy one coke.where in the outside the park world I'd of had a 12 pack.

Really, I go to Kennywood and other smaller parks and buy lots of food, drinks and even souvenirs and don't feel I've been taken for a ride and I also want to go back. Even if at the end of the day I probably spent more than I would at CP.

It is what it is, At the end of the day though you have to have people wanting to come back. For kids and those without house payments etc. Im sure its not even a though. For a family, they budget for it once a year or its the babysitter for a day.

And you have to be profitable to stay in business.

Back to the coasters, Really Raptor, Afterburn and Montu are my favorite inverts. I like Talon and Fire Dragon at IOA but ICE and Alpie are just ok with a couple *Moments* but to me a Hang and Bang or Invertigo are just as thrilling.

And I still say Id rather see a Smiler than all that Hyper, Giga, Invert stuff. Its something that isn't within a few hundred miles of Ohio and not even in the chain. It's also a record CF doesn't hold and could HYPE to the limit., *The worlds only 16 inversion coaster* Only at Kings Island.

I wonder if I drank more Coke if I'd be as miserable going to the Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks. Maybe that's the difference.

No, because I'm pretty sure I've dropped over 20 bucks on a couple slices of pizza and a drink and still had a decent time, so that's not it...

I'm glad you got something out of that gobbledygook because I sure didn't.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Thats ok Vater, I ate Breakfast Lunch and Dinner at Knoebels and had a iced coffee for that same 20 you dropped on two slices.

Whoa! Thought someone turned the CoasterBuzz clock back to 2007 for a minute.

Seriously, I thought we were collectively over this.

Odd:

Highlights:

The Company reported record full-year net revenues of $1.068 billion, up 3.9% from 2011, reflecting strong growth across its parks; net income of $101.2 million, or $1.81 per diluted limited partner unit, was up $30.5 million from a year ago.

Adjusted EBITDA for the full year was a record $391.0 million, up 4.4% from last year, while in-park average guest per capita spending increased to a record $41.95 per guest, up 4.8% from a year ago.

(Source: http://www.cedarfair.com/ir/press_releases/index.cfm?current_root=1...ory_id=371)

The entire company only had cash flow of $391m.

I'd offer you a Twinkie, but I can't find them in stores.

Seriously, I don't know how else to respond to this comment. Like I can't go to Knoebels and do the same...if I, uh...really wanted to?

In Chuck's defense, I'm sometimes more apt to spend more in the absence of sticker shock even it means spending more in the end than I would have just paying out sticker-shock prices in the first place.

Then I realize that for $85 or so, I get unlimited parking and admission at every Six Flags park. I've used my pass three times since I bought it during Fright Fest in 2012, and with one more visit, it'll have paid for itself in parking alone. Nevermind that in one shot, I got ten laps on seven different coasters at Six Flags Great Adventure. That's a different kind of sticker shock - the one where you can't believe how little you're actually paying for something.

You prefer smaller, more traditional mom-and-pop parks. I get that and respect that completely. That doesn't make the chain parks houses of corporate greed, though, and that's where I take issue. It's like you're getting mad at them for being big instead of just explaining that you have a different preference.

But you didn't get to ride Millennium Force, GateKeeper, Raptor, Wicked Twister, Blue Streak, maXair, Dragster, Magnum, Gemini, Skyhawk, two carousels, Cedar Downs, Power Tower...

Or Maverick.

At least he got some laps on Flying Tur... oh, nevermind.

Hi

Went to Kings Island yesterday with my oldest son, and we had a blast -- crowds were minimal. All rides were either a walk on or close to it, except for Flight of Fear in the afternoon -- I suspect its because people want to stay inside away from the sun which was really bearing down on us.

We rode the Diamondback over 26 times together, and I realize that this is the real genius of Bolliger & Mabillard -- no other rides probably come close to the re-ridability of their coasters. It was fun from the first ride of the morning to the very last one. We were on the front row of the last train of the day.

I wanted to share some pictures -- many Bothan spies died to bring us these pictures.

First overview of the site:

The pattern of footings seem to match Diamondback's train storage facility (is that the proper term for it?).

So the work does seem to imply B&M ride. I don't know what footings are like for B&M Inverted, but I'd say a Giga.

So... just sharing. :-)

I'd say Inverted.

I am hoping it is a large scale B&M invert... By far my favorite style of coaster, most of which I have ridden within my top 10 steel list.

Really excited to see when this thing is announced!

Inverted ride construction starting this early? Nah, it's Giga.

Worlds tallest, fastest, and longest Dragon Wagon.

So about 15 ft tall, 324 ft long, and 18 mph?

It's nice that you think so, but it's an invert.
