The biggest and most exciting new attraction in Kings Island's 36-year history, a 5,282-foot long steel hyper roller coaster named Diamondback, will change the landscape for thrill seekers when the ride makes its debut in April 2009.
Diamondback will be the tallest, fastest and meanest roller coaster at Kings Island. The ride will stand 230 feet at its highest point with a first drop of 215 feet at a 74 degree angle and reach speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour. The ride features 10 vertical drops overall including drops of 193, 131, 129, 110 and 106 feet, two helixes - one at 323 degrees and the other at 287 degrees - and a spectacular splashdown ending. The ride experience on Diamondback will last more than three heart-pounding minutes.

Loved NITRO so anything similar is probably going to make my top 10.....which is already out of room! Is it '09 yet?
Anyone who remembers my thoughts on Behemoth's trains when the ride was announced knows I was a very, very vocal critic. Much of that was based on the Deja Vu debacle -- those trains were a nightmare -- and that people have been conditioned to visit parks in even numbered groups so no one ends up riding alone and that trains would dispatch with a higher-than-average number of empty seats. I was also under the assumption that the longer trains would mean an (over)engineered track layout (think Nitro, but even more forceless!). B&Ms trains have worked flawlessly for over a decade...why change what works?
Flash forward to my July 4 visit to Canada's Wonderland. Imagine my surprise when I discovered airtime in the "ejector / makes you grab for the bar" variety. Imagine my surprise when I found the queue row for the two front outside seats -- and we all know the outside seats are da money -- empty because the GP was lined up for queue row #1 (the two inside seats) because "that's the front row."
I was immediately won-over with the trains and the ride. If Diamondback is 1/10th the ride Behemoth is not only will it be the best coaster at Kings Island it'll be the best in Ohio.
I haven't been to Kings Island since SOB's opening. SOB sucks, Beast was a shadow of its former self and nothing else thrilled me.
You can bet I'll be back next year.
Behemoth - First drop, Airtime hill, Hairpin, Three more hills, Mid course brakes, Downward helix, final bunny hop.
Diamondback - First drop, Airtime hill, Airtime hill, hairpin, Airtime hill, Mid course brakes, Two airtime hills, upward helix, water splash.
Two different spots there are people watching and spectating. The coaster includes the newly designed trains with a hot, fire, aggressive looking track.
Behemoth is a huge hit a CW, but this new ride makes me jealous. Seriously though, diamondback will be a ton of fun to ride.
This ride is getting me back to a Cedar Fair park to try this out. I'm looking forward to this ride, it's exactly what KI needs and will hopefully get SoB out of people's heads...
;-)
How can CF use a name that PARC is already using at one of their parks (Diamondback is the Arrow shuttle loop at FC)? Is the ride name not already trademarked - assuming when the park went from SF ownership to PARC that the trademark would also pass to PARC....
Jeremy, anyone else?

Im just going by what ^that says.*** This post was edited by CoasterStreak 8/7/2008 10:51:26 AM ***
I think the kids area really helps because usually at the other parks, there aren't many people in those kids areas. That kids area was quite packed for what it was. I think it's too fast for another coaster so soon. They just got Firehawk last year.
Hopefully, this coaster will be similar to SFOG's Goliath, and not like Raging boring Bull.
Re: Moosh
Best in Ohio? I haven't ridden Maverick, but MF ranks above all the B&M's I've ridden to date. That's quite a claim. We'll see how it (or Behemoth if I ever get up there) live up to it.
