Kings Dominion's 2010 Coaster

I heard they are putting they are putting the steel track on wooden supports and using the steel supports for wooden track to create a new kind of hybrid coaster! ;)

I think its all a red herring, the coaster track and supports are not for KD at all, but they are making extra money by storing rides awaiting delivery. In fact the new coaster for 2010 is this http://www.gordonrides.com/test_site/concepts.html

or not, but I can tell everyone here one thing... it will have wheels, and be gravity driven. ;-)

Real men ride wood... coasters that is!

I honestly have a hard time believing that Gordon Rides is still a legitimate business. Their Harry Potter coaster design looks like they asked a third grader to draw a picture of a Quiditch field and the inverted wooden coaster? Seriously? If I want a rough inverted coaster I can go to SFDK and ride Kong or anyother SLC out there.

Ha! That's exactly what went through my mind when I saw their concept, however I though with the debate of launch = gimmick, and all the random guesses at this new attraction that it was a perfect fit.

Hmm... attraction...

ok....I am still nearly pissing myself after the mamouche/moosh-igil comment...omg :)

Tim...who wishes he was as cool as old RRC'ers :)

still trying to think of a good signature...

Couldn't someone like Universal Studios use that Quidditch thing for Harry Potter land? Seems like a perfect fit for me.

I'm sure they could...

...if it existed beyond a crayon drawing.

Gordon Rides Inverted wooded roller coaster = ridiculously hilarious.

Isn't the super whip idea being used in the new Cars Land at Disney California Adventure?

No, it isn't. Oops...hope I didn't ruin the surprise for anyone.

Yes, you did.

Or maybe you didn't. :)

Okay, here's a nutball thought: Maybe it's for CP's "Project 2010."

Red Herring = Red Track = a red coaster called the RED ROCKET!!!!

Strongly suggesting that Gordon Rides would LIKE for potential buyers to get confused and *mistakenly interpret* the drawings as indicating a working relationship bet. Gordon and USF/IoA...

Hopman - Who'd sponsor Red Rocket? Comedy Central?

I'm in Richmond tomorrow and Wednesday. Maybe I'll make my way up to PKD for a few hours....

or maybe you won't? lol I didn't know you are east coasting it!

Don't be so rough on that "rendering" of the Quidditch coaster. It plainly says that the special effects aren't included. That makes a lot of difference I'm sure.

My sister, two nephews, and parents are on a 2-week American History driving trip through the New England states. Each nephew gets a day to plan whatever they want and the oldest planned a day at BGW. They asked me to join them but I said I couldn't take the time off work when I'm actualy surprising them at their hotel Wednesday morning and spending the day at the park with them.

They're both budding coaster enthusiasts so it'll be cool to see them ride their first good hyper and dive coaster (my first B&M diver too!). My dad has always wanted to ride Nessie. And It'll be a nice way to say goodbye to Big Bad Wolf.

It's a quick trip: I'm back in the office 10am Thurs morning. Me, crazy? Yup!

Rumor spreading online now says that some packing slips for the track list it as "Intamin Giga".

So, does this mean we could have another 300+ ft coaster, or is the track style just giga? Food for thought...

Not to spam someone else's site, but The pictures are on Theme Park Review. It does say "Giga Coaster" on the bottom left corner of a pallet of washers.

Weird... I never would have thought anyone including Cedar Fair would invest in something like that. Of course, it could always be a mis-print.

Intamin only has one other giga, Millennium Force. Millie's track and the track showing up at KD are not the same. That's some tasty food, ain't it? ;)

How's this for dessert: I just checked out the photos mentioned by John Peck above. The ride is listed as Giga Coaster 02.
