Kingda Ka------broken again!

i hope sf has the same class to not continue to advertise for a ride thats not working. it would suck for people to travel all the way, hopefully they will install a phone line concerning the status of the ride and update their web page on a regulat basis also...

Jar, they will advertise for it just as CP did Dragster. All park goers should know ANY RIDE, not just the new latest and greatest (used loosely it's not my #1) ride, could be out of service for the day.

KK was working great this morning. I was there from 9:30-11:30 and there was not one problem whatsoever. The ops were also hitting the dispatch times perfectly every time. As soon as the 2nd train to launch cleared the proximity sensor on the tophat, the next 2 trains were on their way out to the staging area. They were ready to go as soon as the previous train came to a stop in the station. They were doing a great job. Granted I was only there for 2 hours but I've never seen it run that good in the 3-4 times I've been there while KK was open.

The ride was also running ultra smooth today and was by far my best ride ever. (green train)

Well, i finally rode it--3x's yesterday( SAT. May 28th) :) . !!!!!

Twice(blue/dark blue) in front and once(dark blue) in the 2nd to last seat. Because of being stuck on it in the front seat(sitting in the station) for 3.5 hrs on Fri. I became pretty friendly with the staff/security so they let us go on a few times yesterday without having to wait------------it was insane.

Like I said in my post on page 1, the ops and supes have been very cool with the waiting guests. I'm glad they took care of you psyche6050 :) There are some great people working this ride (and many others as well!)

I wasn't there today (Sunday) but I've been told it ran flawlessly with all 4 trains all day long.

Now promise me you won't be there when I finally have a chance, I don't have more than one shot to try and ride this year, and don't need anything breaking the ride ;).

I will try my hardest to not be there and bring along any possible bad luck------i want you to experience it( have a great time)!

Got on KK for the 11th time today, It was my first time since media day.

The ride was running amazing. It only went down for scheduled maitenence where they inspect the ride and see if there are any problems with the sled or the cable.

They seemed to have worked out alot of the bugs with the auto mode operation.

For those people bashing KK that it is totally the same ride as TTD. It's not, I recommend that you don't say anything until you have ridden it because it will make you look like a fool. This is not directed at anybody in particular.

No, Ed, I want you there because at least I know your reputation about broked rides ;).

Maybe Ed is cured...

I don't know of him breaking anything yet this season :) Then again, the season has only just begun ;)

It ran fairly well yesterday as well with only minor 10-15 minute shutdowns every now and then while they inspected things. Is this a Intamin recommendation or is Gadv just being paranoid?

It also opened today on time with the park instead of lagging a little behind while it goes through "testing".

They seemed to have worked out whatever issues there were with 4 train ops because its been running all four since the weekend.

I am really curious to know what engineering changes were made to this ride when compared to TTD. Hopefully we will all find out when the Megastructures show premiers on National Geographic ;) .

I still love both rides though.

You obviously forget the chanting of "Ed Ed Ed" during Pre-Solace in the Ghostrider Station...I was at Maroon 5's concert and I heard it ;).

I like how it is still the beginning of the season, and yet,somehow Kingda Ka is every bit as unreliable as Dragster. How about, let's wait until Ka goes through one complete season (if not more) before we assume it has all the problems of Dragster.

Nope, you're wrong about that. Kingda Ka has a smaller engine according to information releases. TTD has a 10,000hp engine and KK has a 7,000hp engine.

Well, it depends on which spec you are looking at. Kingda Ka puts 7,400 HP to the actual train but the motor has 12,000 peak HP.

Wade, there are some obviously stretched opinions of broken rides earlier this season. I got my cherry breaking ride on KA KA today, in 30 minutes flat.

It was that second attempt that ended up into a 3 hour fiasco :) I took a spin over to Dorney after Great Adventure, I needed to size up Hydra as well. Guess I am getting jaded, since neither ride made a big impression on me.

Both rides are great for what they are, but I would still prefer riding Nitro or the Chiller at GA and most of all S:ROS at SFNE.

Yeah man i went there for Phizer on Saturday the 11th and it was closed too... I also herd during the test run the dummies heads fell off? Ok well i am just goin to go agin next year...
