Kingda Ka------broken again!

Went today for another attempt. While sitting in the front seat of the first car(dark blue) the ride broke. I waited in the seat for about 3 hrs before the made us all go home :( I am starting to feel like I will never get the chance, althought each time I do seem to get alittle bit closer before it breaks down. Maybe I am the bad luck......
I take it you're going to start a new thread each and every time it breaks, eh?
I apologize on the poor spelling/ grammer---------I am very tired.
....and you're surprised why? Nothing to see here, move along folks.
I just really feel bad for the people that paid and made the trip out and stood in a line for 5 hrs and never got to ride it along with any other rides----i have been there 9xs this season and i have a season pass, i can always try again another time. Some people, this was there only trip out there.
Welcome to the wonderful world of 400ft + tall Intamin Rocket coasters.

You actually sat in the seat for 3 hours? That could have been spent on the other coasters in the park. To each is own I guess. *** Edited 5/28/2005 5:04:27 AM UTC by Chitown***

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

3 hrs, i actually had a blast----i took so many great photos.
So much for "Kinda Ka is trouble free" What ever happened to all the people who swore up and down that it was different? ;) *** Edited 5/28/2005 5:14:49 AM UTC by Peabody***

Real Cbuzz quote of the day - "The classes i take in collage are so mor adcanced then u could imagen. Dont talk about my emglihs" - Adamforce
I'm not surpised by this in the least bit. After seeing the many issues of TTD, it was just obvious that KK would grow to inherit the same difficulties. Hopefully this is just helping intamin perfect its mistakes each time.

It should be called "Kingda Con"-----they have been advertising it like crazy for over a month and its been bringing in soooo many people even before it finally opened.
me waiting patiently--http://img276.echo.cx/my.php?image=may275885ye.jpg

test run 1.5 hrs in(we thought there was a chance)---http://img276.echo.cx/my.php?image=may275866yr.jpg

Wow, great photos. That last picture is the best I've seen of the ride yet!

As for the ride, how long has it been open? People are already expecting it to run flawlessly? Xcelerator still can't even manage that...LOL

Kingda Ka------broken again!

Imagine that. ;)

It's like it's a race to see who can be a jerk here first.

I'm sorry that happened. How long did they let you guys sit in your seats? I'm surprised they didn't stick you back in line through the air gates.

Great pics, by the way. Hot girls that ride coasters are a plus though, I must say. Hey, my girlfriend agrees! :)

Don't listen to S2K. I think this is pertinent information to anyone who's planning a trip up there. I think we need to know EVERYTIME it goes down. South Carolina is too far away to plan a trip that could be troublesome. Thanks for your info.

That really does suck :(

Ironically, It's been up everytime I've been there (which is a lot). Of course there are the typical 15-30 minute breakdowns but that is acceptable to me at this part of the game. New rides do that. And to me, it has actually had a better start than Superman in 2003. But I have had yet to witness a complete shutdown of the ride with the obvious exception of weather.

Did they give you exit passes at least? The op's and supes have actually been very cool about these things. Especially for those that were ON the train waiting to go.

If you are local, try going @ 9am Friday morning. Everybody had a blast yesterday with the SP holder only ERT that they have every week.

Good luck next time :)

Get used to it.

Ttd is almost a zerox of this ride. Look whats still happening to it after all this time. You think there would be a lemon clouse in the contract with Intimin.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

And you know this because? This is the third Rocket Coaster Intamin has delivered since Dragster, and we have no way of knowing what changes were made to the ride system. While the ride itself may look somewhat identical (if you can call a height difference, bunny hop, and dual station a Xerox), there might have been several modifications to the design once Intamin was able to see what didn't work on Dragster.

Several modifications that apparently didn't work. Same ****, different year, different park. Good times.

I know this because I have been to cedarpoint over 25 times each year since dragster has opend. I cant count on 2 hands how many times I have been in line for dragster and been turned away because of mechanical problems.

The height differance is only by a few feet, and the bunny hop adds no differance to how both rides operate.

If there were "several" modifications to the design, then why is it having problemes just as dragster is?

Face it......kingda ka is in the same boat as dragster.

You don't even know what the problems are, so how can you automatically assume that they're identical to those of Top Thrill Dragster? I seem to recall the problems with Top Thrill Dragster included overheating of the engine (I believe there was a discussion on how CP went with a cheaper cooling unit to start), friction with the catch car, impurities getting into the hydraulic system, and an apparent (but not yet confirmed) hydraulic or oil leak this year. There are thousands of things that could go wrong with these rides--Kingda Ka could easily have issues that are not related to those experienced by Cedar Point. After monitoring the progress of Top Thrill Dragster for two years, common sense says that Intamin would look for fixes to these problems before they manufactured the ride. Observing Top Thrill Dragster breaking down does not automatically make you an expert on the ride.
