King Cobra's End at PKI Confirmed

I think he's referring to the Days of 7th Smash Portal Thunder Factory ride (Paramount F/X ).

You forgot to mention James Bond.

First off, PKI needs a B&M because thoses are just awesome. They could remove Vortex and put one in there. It could be smooth, fast, and have a good capacity. I'm now goin to make a list of rides that I think could be removed

-Congo Falls, White Water Canyon, Phantom Thearter, The whole Oktoberfest section, Days of Thunder, Not remove TG but just do some editing to make it a bit longer without another lift, Vortex or get lap bars, Action FX Theater (gets old after a few rides), antique cars, and possible F/O.

With a few of these rides they could stay but should be moved to a different location. Congo Falls and White Water Canyon should be moved to Water Works. A lot of people skip these rides cause they don't want soaked clothes all day. White Water Canyon is close enough to Water Works they could just reposition the line.

I'll put in info about an attraction that may or may not be coming back. When working two weeks ago at PKI I found it odd to see that the wonderful (joking) pay attraction The Wall, was nowhere to be seen, on top of that a bulldozer was working the land around the site. What is interesting about the site is that when they removed skylab way back when they left the operator's booth standing.....

Anyways enough speculating, although it is not exactly the most popular attraction in the park, the wall definitely isnt there anymore. And to quell any removal rumors, the Adventure Express and Beast both have new shiny coats of paint on their train. I bet you can count out Vortex as well since it had an overly expensive paint job just finished. As to what attraction will be removed, I'd just let the tide flow and wait to see, hey who knows, it could be the north parking lot. The truth is no one can read the minds of park executives, so just wait for either a removal or an announcement.

I think we can discount the North Parking Lot as a removal option right away, as I was there a couple of days last season when the North lot was full, the South lot was full, the Deep South lot was full, and they were parking people on the grass surrounding the North lot. Believe it or not, they need every parking space they have. Particularly since they have so much of the lot carved up into special niches...! :)

(terrible to see open spaces in Preferred Parking and people fighting each other for space in the grass in Deeper South...)

Paint jobs may mean nothing at PKI. King Cobra got a cool new paint job a couple of years ago. Well, except for the train. The 'Glas fronts on those looked pretty awful.

No one, and I mean no one, is touching the highest capacity coaster in the park! Vortex is not going anywhere, and a beautiful repaint supports that opinion (not that Cobra's repaint meant it was staying).

I do think a B&M is in store, but I can think of something else that would fit in Cobra's spot perfectly.....once they fix the bugs in the prototype.....

Why would anyone fight for a space in the grass in the Deep South lot? If you're parking there, that means you're going to pay $42 to stand in line all day and maybe get in 4 rides. Go home, come back on Tuesday. Sheesh.

Guys I just got an e-mail from Jeffrey Siebert and here is the scoop:

--King Cobra is OFFICIALLY coming down and will be replaced

--the climbing wall will be replaced with a new wall

--a slingshot rise is coming to the park

--the ham on rye simulator is Cyber Sez, like at Carowinds

so thats all cleared up, looks like that is 2 more pay attractions for the park, geez!!!!

A B&M would seem like the best option for PKI as far as an upcoming coaster. I myself would like to see a medium size B&M standup ala Georgia Scorcher to serve as a replacement for King Cobra.

167 coasters and hopes to be over 200 by the end of 2002 :)

Choking out Shaggy's words from URC again, I believed he said something to the extent that there won't be a B&M at PKI in 2003. Well, as far as he knows. ;)

I still think PKI would be the stuff if they got a nicely themed liquid coaster. If they ever got a steel hyper, I would prefer an Intamin. Then a B&M for a full circuit invert or flying. Only me though and what I think.

Koaster King agree totally about the liquid, steel hyper and B&M. That would really add to the parks rating in my book. Whatever PKI will do in the next few years will probaly be good because lately I think they are making some good decisons about what would be best for the park
It's a shame to see it go but I can finally say that I've ridden a defunct coaster. I know it doesn't sound like a big feat but it does to me.

I just hope we see that 350' Arrow terrain hyper I have been dreaming of.
What's all this talk about removing Whitewater Canyon?!? That hurts!! Plus, they were planning on using it as one of the kayaking venues if they got their bid for the 2012 summer olympics. Not to mention that it's the only river rapids ride I've ridden that's actually gotten me wet, it's just That Darn Fun!!! :)

The walk back to White Water Canyon may be even more of a killer than Top Gun. The popularity of the ride use to add up to constant hour plus lines on hot days all the way back past the set of pop machines and I know that it use to be extremely popular. Now, since I haven't ridden it except a couple times over the past 3 years or so, is it still like this or has the popularity decreased significantly?

I would also expect to see something done to the old Les Taxis track very soon. I hope PKI can somehow fit a coaster(besides the limited amount for Face/Off) over the midway or right over the queue which CP seems to do so well. I think this is one of the coolest things a coaster can do a really increases the excitement. I think I like watching Chang, Mean Streak, Corkscrew, and Mantis more than riding them.

I predict that Days of thunder is the next to go and we will see a nice TA2K as a new Action Zone ride in the area occupied by it and KC.

Exactly. They were using the entire parking lot on closing weekend last year. They're not touching parking.

I believe what Shaggy is referring to (correct me if I am wrong) has already been removed at more than one of PKI's sisters. The crew that works on this particular attraction have worried about it leaving for the last few seasons. I will also add this, If it does leave, the park will lose a great treasure that will be missed by many including myself.
