Kennywood..New Ride 2005?

I disagree, cause if that is the case their friends will go on and say how great it is. BGW had a similar situation and came out winners with Aplengeist.
I disagree also...those were painful inversions on the phantom..i dont think the GP will associate a new coaster with inversions with the old ones of the phantom. I know i wouldnt! I think the GP would welcome the addition of a new coaster!

I agree with eight...a nice B&M diver would be a nice welcome!

Enthusists have a different perspective as they generally have had a greater exposure to different types of rides than the GP, especially in a local market such as what KW caters to. They (KW) look long and hard when it comes to major additiions. What would work at CP or BGW may not fit or work at KW, and they know that from years of experience.

I was born and raised in Western PA. Every time I'm back in the area during the season I make it point of going there. I've been to Disney, SF Hershey, KI and countless others. You know what, there is nothing like Kennywood. Enjoy,it,savor it. To coin a phrase"you don't know what you have untill you're gone".

Oh I enjoy it and savor it...i make a point to get to kennywood every year..as well as CP...but i must say a great coaster addition to Kennywood would make the trip alot better.
Let's not rule out the possibility of a woodie now.....

Kennywood is probly known as the park that takes best care of their wooden coasters. If you have been on Racer lately you know what I'm talkin' bout. *** Edited 10/28/2004 1:34:44 PM UTC by razore86***

Yeah but they have a few woodies already. Would ya think they would chose wood over steel? If they could fit another coaster in that park it would probably have to be in the old phantom inversion spot. I dont think a woodie would fit in that spot.
Why does it HAVE to go there? It's not like that's the ONLY space they have -- see Boulder Dash for an example of what else they could do.

Kennywood's got more space than there letting on.....

Another thing to ponder on is why are all the bussiness is that area slowly going out out bussiness(cough, Ames, cough, Taco Bell, cough, Kmart, cough, Pondarosa, cough, Pizza Hut) I should really get this cough checked out!

Well let's see Ames is going out because of Wal Mart, K Mart is going out because of Wal Mart, Pizza Hut burned to the ground ...

Kennywood might be looking into those properties if the opportunity presents itself, but they're not going under because of Kennywood.

The businesses that have gone out have nothing to do with Kennywood's land expansion. Taco Bell had sever water and sewage problems. It was not cost feasible to rehab the store. MetroMedia Steakhouses, that own the Ponderosa restructured their division, and suprise!, they closed a place that is DEAD in the winter.

Pizza Hut closed years ago. Who cares. K-Mart recently closed, and they are building a small Wal-Mart in the spot. Fact is that Kennywood has increased its food service capacity, keep prices in check, and eliminated the question of "Do we have to get our hand stamped and eat lunch outside the gate"?

Does Kennywood own the land. Maybe. Maybe not. Will it be more parking. Maybe. Maybe not. I do not lose sleep over it.

Well, I doubt they would expand across the sreet if they are spending all this money on their entrance and keeping it in the same spot.
The reason I brought up Kmart and Ames is because my supervisor told me that those buildings are used by Kennywood for storage and that they DO own the land up to and including Pizza Hut. *** Edited 10/28/2004 4:13:28 PM UTC by razore86***

One more thing I'm not saying that they didn't go out for other reasons I just believe that with what I've been told that Kennywood has owned the land all along and where just leasing the buildings to K-Mart/Ames for the time being. In fact the only locations around Kennywood that still exist are Giant Eagle/other little shops with that shopping center, and a Thift Store(didn't mention McDonalds because there is the chance that Kennywood owns and operates that francise location). I'm not saying I'm right or anything, nor am I saying anyelse in this thread is wrong but my supervisors are very trusting people and I have to take there word for it. Just a thought.

Agent Johnson why would they build a small Wal-Mart in the place of K-Mart when there is a Super Wal-Mart up the road and around the corner. It doesn't make sense.

Look at Wal Mart's business plan and you'll understand why. Suck 'em in and then consolidate. Putting a Wal Mart on the site of the K-Mart gets 'em that much closer to the Waterfront to try and drive all those business out. Plus, that location might be more accessible to people in Homestead and that area.

Don't worry, once they build it, they'll expand that Super Wal Mart some more to accomodate the extra people and close the new one in a few years.

Urban and suburban blight and the end of capitalism, the goal of Wal Mart. But I digress ...

Was it really necessary for you to have 3 posts?

No it wasn't but everytime I scrolled up there was something new I wanted to say and forgot to just edit.

I'll try not to do that again, Lol!

Yes, KP stores Halloween stuff in Ames. I am not 100% on Wal Mart, but pretty cloes. Their philosopy is to create a 'new' neighborhood around them. They are quietly surrounding the Waterfront District with locations.

Pizza Hut is across the valley/bridge. Unless they are going to have gigantic Inatmin fan turn on the lot, it serves no purpose in the near future.

Kennywood doesn't own any of that stuff. If we did, it'd be parking by now.

In one year's time everyone in the Kmart plaza has to be out. It's being demolished for a Wal-Mart. Word on the street is that Big Lots may use the old Ames building, too.

...and if there are "hints" somewhere in here, they're wrong.
