Kennywood..New Ride 2005?

I just heard on my local Pittsburgh newscast that Kennywood is expanding their entrance to the park, and is starting construction on a new ride after Freight Nights are over. They said it is hopefully supposed to be ready opening day 2005. Does anyone else know anything or have heard anything about this? Maybe they will finally get a "new" coaster.

My uneducated guess is a flat ride from the innovative lineup Huss is offering.

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

Impulse;).
Well, according to KDKA, they are doing $2 million in improvements, new entrance, etc, so if they are getting a new ride, it's probably a flat. I know that the carousel is getting a complete overhaul and some rides (*cough* PittFall *cough*) will be getting a paint job.
Clint, you're just plain evil. I hate you.
ps - ;) (sorta)
I love to torment you, Brett. Seriously, I have no insider info here. But either an Impulse or some other smaller shuttle would fit without taking anything out.

Then there's that silly rumor that says they'll take out the log flume and add a 200'+ B&M invert. Hey, it could happen. And monkey's could fly out of my butt too.

clint-hopes he dosen't have to eat those words, but will agree that a non hyper invert could go there, and I'm not saying it won't but 200' is rediculious, and it ain't happening in this lifetime-b.

Danny's Crystal Ball says "monkey's could fly out of your butt" if you choose to use your M:TR exit pass in California next March.

+Danny, hoping it expires *or* read the fine print

I'll believe it when I hear it kpjb.Nuff said.
I've noticed a few new things already that just happen recently. Auto Race got a new pait job. It's now yellow instead of purple. At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me but my co-workers noticed the same things. Another new adddition is new wood on the shooting gallery(is that what its called) The "Shooting Gallery" is the game between Log Jammer and Racer. If you look up at the wood it appears to be new. Or maybe they just re-stained it. I have also heard about new entrance too. They are also making the Taco stand(next to racer) bigger(for next year). Also heard they are adding a new seating area(next year) where the fountain is in front of the train. Of course kpjb can shine some more light onto this subject.

The article states that construction on the ENTRANCE will begin in November, not a ride.

"Rosemeyer did not rule out the possibility that patrons still might see a new ride in the park in 2005.". Possibility of a ride? Yes, but nothing definite.

I think this will be a great improvement to the park. It does get crowded and hopefully it will be big enough to handle possibly large crowds for the bathrooms.

It does seem to be more of a face lift project to me...but the news cast are the ones talking about a new ride....and if there is a new ride....prolly another flat ride.

Heres a piece from that pittsburgh live article. Note it does not rule out the possability of a new ride......

"The $2 million cost of the project is the equivalent to bringing in a new ride -- but not a roller coaster -- to the park, Rosemeyer said.

"It's definitely the biggest project this winter," Rosemeyer said. "It is major. We have waited a few years to be able to do it."

Rosemeyer did not rule out the possibility that patrons still might see a new ride in the park in 2005. This year, the Old Mill, built in 1901, was converted to Garfield's Nightmare."

Nice to finally see restrooms added to that side of the gates. Always confused me why they didn't have restrooms for guests waiting for the park to open. I also like the idea of having a seperate line for guests with tickets bought before hand.

When this announcement was made I thought to myself, I have never had problems with their entrance. But after last night I realize they need something new. It was hectic.
A frisbee (or better, an afterburner) would be a nice addition in the flat department. They don't need much space, and they're fun.

I don't know anything, just saying what I think would fit...

Freight Nights are over.

Do you have to drive an 18-wheeler or operate a locomotive to get in?:)
We got ourselves a convoy... 10-4 good buddy.
Does anyone know just How they are changing the entrance? That Road is a big 0159er.

"Ignore the screaming in the woods...Everything is fine! This is your last chance to escape the wrath of.... THE BEAST."

I really don't know how they would change it. Maybe make the exit smaller? Maybe move the exit completely and make all of that the entrance? I guess there are alot of possabilities but i really don't know how they will do this yet.
