We don't live together anymore though. :(
I'm at school in YTOWN BABY and he goes to Michigan State.
It's more of an evil collaboration over AIM than a mushpit like you described though.

I think we should have a thread called "Jeff's funniest responses".
That would be funny. As a matter of fact I'am going to chunk up my $20 tommorrow. Not very much money to spend to enjoy "jerkiness" and coaster conversation.

Pshaw! Jeff isn't enough of a jerk. He's too nice.
Besides, I own him in sarcastic responses, and he knows it. ;)
Yeah, your sarcasm cuts to the bone of stupid people, who unfortunately don't often get it.
I'm thinking the Theory of Nobody(TM) should be worked into the rules too. Can't compete with the SA rules, which if I really was a big jerk I'd use, but it's a good start.
And wow, 8,000 members? Is everyone of them paid? If so, I'm in the wrong freakin' business. I could do a lot with 80 grand, and would be happy to do it if it meant dogging on stupid people.

The Theory of Nobody was only a simple observation, nothing more. Besides, you're limited to beating people with lemon peels on GTTP/CoasterBuzz. Of course, on occasion you can go Douglas Adams and use a lemon peel wrapped around a very large gold brick.
Despite my extensive training in verbal combat--including the West Side 'Yo Momma' style as a kid, Playette's Souf Side 'Dirty Mofo' style (as used by 2Hostyl) and a few Suburrrrrban Passive/Agressive SnotRag techniques -- most people only get toyed with by me at the worst....mainly because I wanna see their attempts to respond before the thread gets closed. Most haven't been worth it.
I don't think I've ever gone completely nuts on anyone here but once....and I won't bother repeating the closing line of that post.

Jeff it's not just 8,000 members. That's the current count. Not to mention the hundreds that have been banned and returned with another $10. When we first joined, the member total was closer to 10,000. Not to mention that the goons actually *DONATE* lots of money toward the server upgrades and site upkeep. I think in one round of donations they actually paid for the new server, something along the lines of $3000!

The only thing I don't understand is why Jeff has to have a T1 when a co-lo server is sooo much cheaper. We have a dedicated server on a T3 ... 92 gigs of data transfered last month ... $699 in bandwidth costs. We also have 24 hour access to the building to get to the server if need be.
I just don't understand.
Uhhhhhhh...Natalie and you can sort out the mooshy nicknames. I think I've just been swayed to the 'vomit' option.

Why don't I co-lo or get a managed server? I went that route. It isn't cheap to use someone else's license of SQL Server for one thing. There is no reliable co-lo in Cleveland, and what there is they want to charge you endlessly for IP's (silly because, at least with Sprint, I can have all the IP's I want). None have SLA's, and most are so far away from a major backbone that performance isn't great (it's rarely more than 12 hops to my router from most places in North America). I'm also dealing with a lot more bandwidth. Last time I checked it was in the neighborhood of 120 gigs a month. Then consider I have more than one server, so I don't have to pay for more than one port or rack space.
Trust me... I did the math, and for what I needed this was the best way to go.
I've spent money I don't have on server upgrades recently, but the results are yummy. This thing doesn't even break a sweat at peak times.

CoastaPlaya: Sorry, I misspelled gall as "gaul." Look it up in the dictionary if you don't know what it means. It's not hard to see where your loyalty lies...... And that's okay if you don't agree with what I said, I didn't expect to be inundated with "ooh I totally agree" comments. I also see that you took great care to craft your response to my comment. Maybe sometime when I have nothing to do I'll actually look at the links you provided.
Jeff, I respect your response to my blunt comments. I have a great deal of respect for the website and the work you have put into it. If it helps, I visit the site frequently, whether I post a comment or not.
Natalie - you're clueless.

I'm glad you singled me out among the other people who posted in this thread all saying the same thing. I posted NOT EVEN MENTIONING your stupid name, and that's what I get.
I posted an example of a forum I enjoy MORE THAN this one and how strict the owner was as an analogy to how things COULD be here. You know why I enjoy those other forums more? Because you and your ignorant kind aren't there. If they are, the banhammer strikes swiftly.
In conclusion:
ophthodoc: You're worthless.
Hey wait, Natalie...I think you forgot humorless, witless and feckless. Not to mention as entertaining as a big bowl of dry, uncooked plain Quaker Oats.
Natalie's response had as much (if not more) substance as anyone else's. How dare you just dismiss her out of hand.
BTW, responding to your teeny little post didn't require much care. To quote the urban poet Calvin Broadus, "Somehow, someway...I come up with funky (bleep bleep) like every single day". You see, I bite my fingernails and spit more writing talent on the floor than you have in your whole family tree. I just do this for fun 'cuz I gots it like that and you don't.
I believe the rest of us were busy having fun here. Don't look that word up in the dictionary. You can only experience that by having a life. You know, with people who like you and stuff.
