Italian Job At PKI in 2005!

This seems like an experience where you should have more fun with the combination of theme and *motion* of being on this car chase than actual stats. PKI has pretty much brought a normal simulator like you would find in the Action Theatre to life, which I think is insanely cool. It seems like it will be unique enough to round out PKI's coaster collection and separate them as a totally different type of theme park experience from CP, GL, and SFKK. I finally got my "major non-looping steel coaster"!! And this one is themed out the butt! Isn't that what everyone has been asking for too? B^)

About the theming, I think PKI is doing an excellent job compared to the rest of the seasonal parks in the US. Paramount does much more to try to bring in guests with theming than SF and CF ever attempt to do and Nick Central (Wild Thornberries, Reptar), HB Land, Scooby Doo and the Haunted Mansion, Adventure Express, and Flight of Fear are still looking their best. Tomb Raider loses some elements here and there and I know the animation and effects dept. tries really hard to get money for everything to operate. Top Gun just doesn't go through the themed area anymore which I always thought was a little silly.

PKI isn't a Universal or Disney park and if you're going to complain about theming being up to standards with parks that get triple plus the attendance and are open year-round then I can't really help you. I'm satisfied with what PKI is doing and let me know when a Disney or Universal park in the US gets a Huss Giant Frisbee, Huss Giant Top Spin, Flying Eagles, 300 ft. drop tower, wooden coaster (not to mention 4 of them), 4 kiddie/junior coasters, 13 coasters at a park, several flat rides, a free waterpark with park admission,...

I don't think the speed of this coaster will be that high. I would be surprised if it went over 50mph. A ride like this has a strong family appeal and to totally shut that audience out would be foolish. But I don't think a lower speed will hurt this ride - being so low to the ground and close to the scenery and effects will really enhance the sense of speed.
Just wait 2 years and the theming will be all most gone. Plus why would Disney add a Huss Giant when they are going to open a new Mt. Coaster with a AA in 2005??????
The new coaster at Animal Kingdom is going to have an Alcoholics Anonymous in it? Explain.

Once again Vortex, thank you for your always negative comments on PKI, and their ability to keep up theming. I think the ride will be great! I got to very briefly speak with Jeffrey Siebert and he told me that they were working on getting the cars to "fishtail", which would be really cool. He also said they would actually have car doors, which I find pretty cool. Does anyone know if during the ride the tires on the mini coopers will spin? *** Edited 8/13/2004 5:10:31 PM UTC by RyanA***
Hey Vortex you can just take your negative comments elsewhere. All you've done is complain. Get a life man. What ride hasn't kept it's theming up at PKI since they've decided to go big with themed rides? Don't say Tomb Raider (only choice)because I'd love to see you go into a ride that complicated and fix it. So what you don't get sparks or laser eyes at the beginning. Deal with it. PKI is a great park for people of all ages, you can't do that at CP which is probably your favorite park! Why is your name Vortex; if you bash PKI so much you shouldn't have anything to do with them right?
Ohhh, I figured Animal Kingdom had just found a clever way to draw -and keep- people away from BGT... ;)

Wow, somehow the rocket coaster at my beloved SFGadv pales in comparison to this announcement. I am definitely making it Kings Island next year. Shows that theming and originality goes a long way. I actually liked the movie also. Didn't think it was that bad...c'mon....Charlize Theron was in it! My favorite line (Mos Def...." I had a bad experience") I use all the time now.
so what are the excact specs does anyone know for sure, like how fast in how many seconds and how many launches will there be, and where is it located

and when is PKI gonna get a B&M *** Edited 8/13/2004 5:44:49 PM UTC by drummerkid88***

To answer your last question drummerkidd88, probably when all the other roller coaster designers in the world go out of business and B&M are it if you want a steel coaster. So, to summarize, not in your lifetime.

PKI will get a B&M when they start making kiddie coasters because PKI needs another one... =^o ;)

Seriously though, when the Beastie queue line is full in all the switchbacks and goes all the way back to the kiddie bumper cars, Ghoster Coaster and Reptar have a full queue, and Taxi Jam goes around the corner on a weekday, I'd say they'll get another thing for the kiddies sooner than later... And Italian Job being marketed and with appeal to the whole family over 7 years old/48", they're going in the right direction for business and guest happiness I think. Believe it or not, I think there would be less interest and overall appeal in an unthemed B&M, hyper or not.

If I had a family, PKI would definitely be a top priority in my summer vacation plans for 2005. They continue to gear rides towards families and not just the speed/thrill junkies of the world, which coincidentally are far outnumbered by the families that attend parks. I'm not trying to turn this into a park X v/s park y thing but why in the world don't we see more of this kind of thing being built at other parks? This is the ultimate family ride!

As has been stated before, I can't wait to do BeastBuzz next year. Viva la Italian Job and PKI!

It has been a long time since I have personally been literally blown away by a park announcement. This did it. Wow! After watching the animation, my mouth was wide open. Words weren't coming to me to describe how I felt at that moment... and I still feel that way!

I must echo others and say outstanding job PKI! A great park continuing to outdue themselves!

OHIcOaster - you were "literally" blown away? Are you OK? You must live in Tampa! ;)

My blog You said, "I'm gonna run you down." I heard, "I'm an orangutan."
Haha, now that I read my post again Den I can't help but to laugh. And cringe a little- hope Florida buzzers are okay!

Best of all, I live in Columbus. Go figure! :)

It's nice to see the local crew snag another contract. Way to go Premier Rides!
I think both of the BIG Ohio parks know their market, and BOTH parks will be right at the top of the attendance list for seasonal parks as always.

P.S. Does anybody know IF they can pull this off with 4-wide seating? It seems that this may be a way to get capacity up IF there are indeed only 3 trains with 3 cars per..........

Just adding myself to the list who actually found entertainment value in the movie.

It wasn't a "good" movie, but it was a very entertaining one. There is a difference.

It was the movie equivalent of a candy bar - certainly something I want to partake in, but not the staple of my diet.

I think this ride just looks like good fun. Something a lot of parks seem to overlook in their quest for the "-est" ride. The same reason I still do Spongebob 3D every visit to a park that has it - it's just silly fun. This won't be an exceptional coaster experience, but it looks to be an incredible ride experience that I'm guessing I'll want to do again and again.

Not and keep the MINI Cooper S design... You'd have a hard time making people believe 4 people can fit across the seats in one of those tiny cars.

Watch the tram car please....
