I still don't know if my comp will even handle it. Like someone earlier said,I'm no comptuer geek so I really don't even know what I have. Compaq Windows ME Purchaced in 2000 with no upgrades since.
Gonch the game may not like your flyer(3 excitement) but I'd ride it. Very nice design.

Ugh, I thought the new computer would be able to handle all the requirements. oh well. thanks!is there a graphics or video card that you recommend? and what do these things retail for? *** Edited 10/29/2004 1:25:33 AM UTC by ZNitroMan***
Newness of the computer means nothing. But newness of the graphics card in it means everything. See, in order to give you that great deal on that computer, builders often cheap out elsewhere. And usually they start with the graphics. Sharing your memory is a no no in the world of gaming.
As for what options you have. Many many. And a wide range of price points. I recommend browsing the boards of Guru3D.com. You will find lots of info there. You also might want to pick up the latest issue of Maximum PC on the newstand. These resources will be invaluable in getting you up to speed on the world of graphic cards.
The biggest question to ask yourself is how much gaming do you plan to do in the future. Do you want to run Doom3? Half Life 2? Farcry? Do you want reflective water in RCT3? If the answer is yes to any of those questions, you should go for the best card you can afford. The lower end of the spectrum won't do water reflections.
Unfortunaly I don't have the ride DirectX to get reflective water in RCT3 :(.
I get 45 fps at 1280x1024 with all options and anti-aliasing on. It's beautiful. All the more reason it concerns me that I don't get better performance out of RCT3.

And as for not spending moeny just for Doom or RCT3, well...you do realize more games will be coming out in the future where this will be an issue right? The bar is being raised and there are only two things you can do, either join the fray and upgrade, or sit on the sidelines (or in this case run at reduced graphics). That's always been the case and nothing has changed. It's an endless cycle.
In other words...you can't expect your Volkswagon to run like a Ferrari. :)

I think we should all get a rebate for a completely unfinished game. Instead of forum topics being "wow this bit is such a great add-on" it's bug, bug, bug, they've changed something for the worse, bug, bug etc.
Wonder if Valve will release Half Life 2 half done, where half the levels don't work, the rendering messes up some of the weapons don't work unless you drop them then pick them back up again.
I feel completely ripped off, and if it wasn't for the fun of watching a breakdancing panda I would take my copy straight back to where I bought it.
Dissapointed doesn't' cover it, more like disgusted.
A day at the park is what you make it!
I can see a lot of people building parks in sandbox mode and going "ooh i've done a really cool Wild West theme area in my park" and all they've done is put down the set pieces, set scenery items, set buildings, set rides.
And because of the main path bug that Jeff pointed out, I find it hard to be creative within the game. There is only so many places you can put queues and shops... :(

Hey guys,Has anyone else had trouble placing water? We followed the directions and cant place water anywhere no mater what we do.
I'm having this exact same problem! Not only cannot I not place water, but I can't SEE water either. When I load the scenario with the Indian-style building surrounded by the pools of water (forget what it's called), the "holes" are there for the water, but it's just dry land. When I attempt to place water, nothing happens.
I'm sure this is a video issue of some sort, but not sure how (or if I can fix it). I updated all my drivers before I even bought the game, and have tried every graphic setting I can find. Everything else seems to work ok...not the greatest fps, but I can live with it. In the demo wasn't there a selection to turn water reflections off? I can no longer find it in the full game.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks... Joel
Then delete the track pieces from the coaster u saved that connect the back of the coaster to the station...and the front of the coaster to the station. Problem solved?
