First big one I'm finding is that you can't have more that 5 cars on a floorless coaster train. Doesn't seem to matter how long the station is. Same problem with newly built coasters and imported ones.
The button says 'lit' like it wants to let you up the number beyond 5, but clicking it does nothing.
Already, my favorite coaster type rendered lame by stubby trains :(
All 3 of those coasters use the same track style...and it's the same as the Hyper coaster. I imagine the graphics are simply recycled between those 4 coaster types - it just makes sense to use the same track graphics and simply switch the train graphics.
But, the Hyper is the only one that has multiple car types. You can pick the hyper train (Giovanola-style with 3 rows of 2 in each car) or the hyper train wide (B&M style with 1 row of 4 in each car) - the hyper is set to the Giovanola style by default. This all seems fine until you realize that the max number of cars for the Giovanola style trains is 5 cars (as well it should be, that it correct), if you switch to the B&M style, it lets up raise the number of cars well beyond 5. The hyper works correctly.
But now imagine they did as I said earlier and based the Twister, Floorless and Stand-Up on the Hyper code and just switched train graphics. You can only select one train type on those three coasters, so it's using the default options for those trains. In this case (since these coasters are based off the Hyper's coding) the options for these trains are the same as the options for the default on the hyper which would be the Giovanola style car - and (say it with me) you can only choose up to 5 cars max with that style on the hyper.
Following me?
If the B&M style were the default on the Hyper - everything would've worked fine. (my guess)
Maybe I should e-mail Frontier. Do I get a paid for sorting out their mistakes? ;)
The problem: it wouldnt let me set powered launch over 28.## miles/hour. The "up" box did not grey out, but it wouldnt go any higher. Not much you can do with that.
Overall though, im having fun. Need to try some fireworks yet.
How do you put custom peeps into your game?
I made a group with the peep designer and saved it. Now what?
Or are they just slipped in automatically or what? The instruction booklet wasn't too clear on this. Or did I miss that?
Once you make the custom peeps and save 'em, they are automatically in your park, whether it be sandbox or scenario/career. The top bar (where the weather, etc.. are) and to the far right is a peep icon for your personalized peeps. Click on it, and the names of your peeps will appear in text balloons above the actual characters inside the park.
You can't save scenery with a ride!
WTF is the point then!?
It sucks on two levels:
1. Gameplay. Now I have to retheme a coaster every time I plop it into a scenario or park. Yeah, right - screw that.
2. Exchanges (like CB Games). Half of what makes everybody's coasters unique is the way they theme and incorporate interaction between the ride and it's surroundings. Take away that half of the equation and you have just a layout - we're all working with the same pieces here, there's nothing one person can do that everyone else can't with just a layout.
Then on top of that, you can save scenery/buildings, but the ride isn't included (the inverse of the above problem).
Ok Gonch, then just save each seperately and slap them together later for the end product.
Yeah, that's what I thought too. So I built a simple 6 piece loop layout of the haunted hotel ride and covered it with a simple box of brick walls giving a full square of padding around the ride.
I save the ride then save the box.
I then placed the saved ride with no problems, but the box won't lay over it.
I tried the other way and place the box first, then tried to put down the ride in the box - still no go.
So basically, we're reduced to swapping saved game files and they've removed all the usefulness of trading rides to use in your own parks and creations.
I'm rapidly becoming less and less amused with this game.
Has anyone else had trouble placing water? We followed the directions and cant place water anywhere no mater what we do.
Just a couple of G-Force junkies!
You did choose to dig a hole using one of those options (crater, trench, etc..?). Then you simply place the water droplet icon inside the hole (or along the edge of the hole to the height you want it at). It should just fill automatically then. *** Edited 10/27/2004 11:20:30 PM UTC by JCat***
1) Way to look at overall peep thoughts? (like there was in RCT2)
I'm in the 2nd level of first scenario and my peeps are leaving in droves, slumped over and dejected. Surely there is a better way to get an "overall" idea of what they are thinking than to click each and every one!
The park inspector is no help to me.
I cant fix what I dont know is broke!
Secondly. Probably just a noob (as opposed to a bug) mistake but I cant seem to get "No Entry" signs working right. Cant really tell a direction it "should" face to block, say, a ride exit, from peeps wandering in. And not locking peeps coming off the ride in! I've tried both ways (using the blue placement square as directional navigation) and it seems to have no effect. Can anyone try this and confirm? *** Edited 10/27/2004 11:35:05 PM UTC by SLI_Fallen***

If somebody finds it, let me know too. Just another 'vital' piece of the game for people who actually play it that seems to be missing.
If you just build pretty, non-functional parks - this game is probably a dream come true.
No one wants to download a coaster with no theming...theming is one of the reasons I download just to see what the designer has done and created. Reduced to just saved games just won't be right. Everyone does not want a saved game they want track files and they want them themed as well. I think it is a big problem ...and I really don't know why Atari took that option out, I really don't know what to say...but that maybe you will see more people going back to RCT2....at least with that you can upload your scenery!!!!! *** Edited 10/27/2004 11:49:49 PM UTC by Evolution***
I haven't got the game yet - I'm in the UK and have to wait another week!!! But I played the trial and it seems all the bugs from the demo are still in that.
Someone tell me, does the park still get overun with puke and trash, and do the staff actually stay in their patrol zones?
The game looks great, but a five year could have made the game more functional, and the sounds are awful too, I mean, it sounds so amateur, like the sound guy went into the office and recorded some chatter, and then said "Hey, everyone scream as pathetically as possible." and there you have your sounds. *** Edited 10/28/2004 12:07:16 AM UTC by Grant***

why the heck did cris sawyer not work on this
He did he was the advisor to his "original" but he thought the proffesionals would do better than to have a 2d game where chris sawyer living in a whole designing the games.

Not rubbing it in, but this poor college student would rather not buy something before seeing the product.
Any way to switch the default folders that RCT saves to? I personally like to keep my C drive nice and tidy and have never used the "my music" or "my pictures" or "my stupid files" folders or whatnot.
I have 2 hard drives with 5 partitions and in my little world the C drive is system files only. (It's a personal thing)
Any way to change the save to folders? Again, if there is I apologize for not seeing it.
