You can use Tweak UI (search microsoft.com) to move the My Documents folder anywhere you'd like. You can do this from some menu in Word as well.

Cool. Thanks, Jeff.

Big flaws (I think) in figuring stats on the Flying Coaster.

These seem a tad off to me.

Can I ask a dumb ass question? I have 512Mb of RAM, but I noticed that whenever my park gets crowded, the rides start moving slower. Is that a graphics card problem, or do I have to upgrade to a gig? And a followup dumbass question, if it is indeed a graphics card problem, is the graphics card easily replaced? I was never a computer nerd so have mercy on me :) Thanks

Fate is the path of least resistance.

What is your current 3D graphics card, and how fast is your processor. These would be helpful in asnwering your question.

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.
My processor is 1.5 gHz. The graphics card I'm not too sure of...I'll have to check my packing slip whick is in a closet somewhere. I dont think I chose the optimum one though (purchased it online from DELL)

Fate is the path of least resistance.

If you're running XP, go into the Control Panel and click on your Display icon. Then click the settings tab. It should have the type of graphics card listed there, or you may have to click advanced and then another tab.

I'd say that the processor might be at least partially to blame. 1.5 GHz is less then half the speed that CPUs are up to now. I know that it falls within system specs, but that is the low end of the min. requirements.
Has anyone built any water rides yet, I find it very interesting that the "Splash Boats" speed around at 20 mph. In RCT 1 and 2 they went to slow and now they go way to fast!

Also the ratings system is all screwed up! I built a Tilt Coaster and it had a 6 intensity rating, and there was a full line of people for it. I saved the game, came back later and right when the game started I noticed everyone leaving the line. I look at the stats and it's intensity rating was 256 (uber-extreme), and there was no reason for it.

Edit: I also just noticed the Enterprise barely spins, in fact it looks as if it goes backwards at one point. (Perhaps this is just a error on my graphics card)

This game has more Bugs in it then Deja Vu. *** Edited 10/28/2004 8:55:49 AM UTC by CoasterDude316***

YEs it does have bugs. You cant build a coaster that goes faster than what we currently have in real life. You cant build a Strata Coaster faster than 123mph who cares if kingda ka will go 128 . TTd only goes 123mph so why should we let them go any faster.

Also they said we would get huge amounts of land in sandbox mode. Yeah right. IF you build six nitros(tried it with the version of the coaster from rct2) you basicalyl cant build any more coasters. Great adventure has at least 4 coasters this size. So i cant build great adventure.

Hey I'm kinda worried if I should get the game. I dont know if my computer will support it. I have a 2.66Ghz Proccesser, 256MB memory, 125MB Radeon Video Card, 160GB Hard Drive. I've heard of a few people that have played it successfully then there are some that haven't. Can someone help me?
I think I'll just stick to RCT2 for a while.

My previous computer "died" two years ago at about the same time I got RCT2 (never was able to load the game on it). We just replaced that computer with a kick A system two months ago... so RCT2 is still "new to me".

IGN just put up thier review. Guess what one of the first "complaints" was?

Yup, Overall peep thoughts, and the problems he describes regarding that is EXACTLY what I have seen. NOBODY riding NOTHING and you have no clue why.

To Quote: (just one paragraph, I hope thats not "content stealing" if it violates forum policy, please feel free to edit/remove with my apologies)

"Unfortunately, as of release, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 left out one feature that I consider very important. It was apparently considered less important because of focus groups, (So I guess we cant totally blame Frontier on this-SLI) but is something that I've had a hard time being completely successful without. Basically, there is no overall list of peep reactions to the park to sort through as there was in 1 and 2. Therefore, you don't know what the majority of the park is thinking. All you have is park rating calculated using a complex equation to go by. So when no one, and I mean no one, is riding any of your rides, which should appeal to the entire spectrum, you won't be able to figure out why, unless you click on each of the peeps individually. You can see what people thought about the rides, but half the time, they aren't thinking anything about them, they're just walking by. I remember from the original RCT having lines all over the place. It seems a lot harder to keep a queue filled this time around. When you have nothing to advise you on why this is happening, it can get pretty damn frustrating. The first update will apparently fix this, but for those of you that only have the Internet at work, this is going to be a frustration that you'll have to find a way to fix on your own."

So looks like this is going to get fixed. And not soon enough.

jigga your comp will support it. My gf is running this game on a 2ghz celeron processor, 128 mb 9550 pro and 40 gb hard drive. I am running it on a 3ghz p4 9800 pro with 160gb sata harddrive.

I've never had the problem of no peeps riding (even in RCT3), but I do use the grouped peep thoughts a lot when playing. I'm a firm believer of finding and fixing potential problems before they get out of hand. Constant monitoring of collective peep thoughts is the only way of know if something is going downhill and fixing it before it gets ugly.

Like I said, I don't seem to have the problem of peeps not riding like I see mentioned so often (no idea why), but what if you click the ride, then the thought bubble on the individual ride menu and see what peeps are thinking about the ride? Seems to me that if peeps aren't riding, they have to be thinking something about the ride(s) - assuming this part of the game was designed correctly, this should work.

Another 'must have' view that's missing is the ability to watch your coaster run in a window with the speed displayed. That stupid graph is not accurate or precise enough to work out the kinks in your coaster designs.

I keep saying it, but all my posts come back to the same conclusion - they made this as an artistic design tool, not a game. If you used this to just make pretty landscapes and park layouts, it'd be phenominal. The problems arise once you start actually playing the game and expecting things to run, tools to help and any coherency whatsoever.

This is exactly why all the litle monkeys on the official forums are digging this game. They're the type that just makes pretty things. People over there in general are into 15,000 foot long coasters with 27 intensity ratings that look crazy. They're people who don't care if things run right as long as they look right. They're the kind that use trainers to make things run goofy, but look better. They don't open their park to peeps, meet goals, manage a park (or even open it) or care about solid coasters that make sense or run correctly (most still use continuous circuit mode).

Sadly, they're also the group of people who's advice, suggestions, requests and wish lists were considered when throwing this whole mess together.

Therein lies the problem.

I agree on the real-time speed view. It's hard to find the parts of the ride that are too intense otherwise.

Aggregate peep thoughts I haven't found to be a problem yet, because the game has told me when certain things aren't right. For example, if your prices are too high at the soda stand, it tells you.

The logic that puts peeps in ride queues ain't right, that's for sure. I put a crappy, short monster truck ride near the entrance and the queue spilled onto the midway. A carousel four squares down attracted no one. That's screwed up.

Don't forget they added a

park inspector
I have found out that the park inspectors report on your park and thoughts can be sent to console, but since there is only one, how can you run a whole park like Six Flags or a Cedar Point designed "Custom Scenario" ?
i need some help. im no computer whiz. i just got a new computer 2 nights ago... from the stickers on the tower, it says it has a 2.1 GHz processor, 512 MB DDR SDRAM memory, and "integrated graphics with 64 MB shared video memory"

whenever i try running the game, i get

"your graphics or hardware drivers do not meet the minimum requirements to run RCT3"

i dont know how to figure out what video card or whatever i have- but is there some setting perhaps that i need to be in to run the game?

thanks in advance

Jeff's avatar
That means your built-in video isn't going to cut it. You'll need an add-on graphics card. If you don't know how to do that, take it to CompUSA because they install video cards for free.

Jeff - Editor - CoasterBuzz.com - My Blog

Ugh, I thought the new computer would be able to handle all the requirements. oh well. thanks!

is there a graphics or video card that you recommend? and what do these things retail for? *** Edited 10/29/2004 1:25:33 AM UTC by ZNitroMan***

You can get reasonable performance out of the $150-range cards, but your biggest bottleneck will be the CPU. You have the slightly less expensive version of a Pentium, which tends to be a little weaker for math intensive processes (like games).
