Big flaws (I think) in figuring stats on the Flying Coaster.
Fate is the path of least resistance.
Fate is the path of least resistance.
Also the ratings system is all screwed up! I built a Tilt Coaster and it had a 6 intensity rating, and there was a full line of people for it. I saved the game, came back later and right when the game started I noticed everyone leaving the line. I look at the stats and it's intensity rating was 256 (uber-extreme), and there was no reason for it.
Edit: I also just noticed the Enterprise barely spins, in fact it looks as if it goes backwards at one point. (Perhaps this is just a error on my graphics card)
This game has more Bugs in it then Deja Vu. *** Edited 10/28/2004 8:55:49 AM UTC by CoasterDude316***
Also they said we would get huge amounts of land in sandbox mode. Yeah right. IF you build six nitros(tried it with the version of the coaster from rct2) you basicalyl cant build any more coasters. Great adventure has at least 4 coasters this size. So i cant build great adventure.
My previous computer "died" two years ago at about the same time I got RCT2 (never was able to load the game on it). We just replaced that computer with a kick A system two months ago... so RCT2 is still "new to me".
Yup, Overall peep thoughts, and the problems he describes regarding that is EXACTLY what I have seen. NOBODY riding NOTHING and you have no clue why.
To Quote: (just one paragraph, I hope thats not "content stealing" if it violates forum policy, please feel free to edit/remove with my apologies)
"Unfortunately, as of release, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 left out one feature that I consider very important. It was apparently considered less important because of focus groups, (So I guess we cant totally blame Frontier on this-SLI) but is something that I've had a hard time being completely successful without. Basically, there is no overall list of peep reactions to the park to sort through as there was in 1 and 2. Therefore, you don't know what the majority of the park is thinking. All you have is park rating calculated using a complex equation to go by. So when no one, and I mean no one, is riding any of your rides, which should appeal to the entire spectrum, you won't be able to figure out why, unless you click on each of the peeps individually. You can see what people thought about the rides, but half the time, they aren't thinking anything about them, they're just walking by. I remember from the original RCT having lines all over the place. It seems a lot harder to keep a queue filled this time around. When you have nothing to advise you on why this is happening, it can get pretty damn frustrating. The first update will apparently fix this, but for those of you that only have the Internet at work, this is going to be a frustration that you'll have to find a way to fix on your own."
So looks like this is going to get fixed. And not soon enough.

Like I said, I don't seem to have the problem of peeps not riding like I see mentioned so often (no idea why), but what if you click the ride, then the thought bubble on the individual ride menu and see what peeps are thinking about the ride? Seems to me that if peeps aren't riding, they have to be thinking something about the ride(s) - assuming this part of the game was designed correctly, this should work.
Another 'must have' view that's missing is the ability to watch your coaster run in a window with the speed displayed. That stupid graph is not accurate or precise enough to work out the kinks in your coaster designs.
I keep saying it, but all my posts come back to the same conclusion - they made this as an artistic design tool, not a game. If you used this to just make pretty landscapes and park layouts, it'd be phenominal. The problems arise once you start actually playing the game and expecting things to run, tools to help and any coherency whatsoever.
This is exactly why all the litle monkeys on the official forums are digging this game. They're the type that just makes pretty things. People over there in general are into 15,000 foot long coasters with 27 intensity ratings that look crazy. They're people who don't care if things run right as long as they look right. They're the kind that use trainers to make things run goofy, but look better. They don't open their park to peeps, meet goals, manage a park (or even open it) or care about solid coasters that make sense or run correctly (most still use continuous circuit mode).
Sadly, they're also the group of people who's advice, suggestions, requests and wish lists were considered when throwing this whole mess together.
Therein lies the problem.

Aggregate peep thoughts I haven't found to be a problem yet, because the game has told me when certain things aren't right. For example, if your prices are too high at the soda stand, it tells you.
The logic that puts peeps in ride queues ain't right, that's for sure. I put a crappy, short monster truck ride near the entrance and the queue spilled onto the midway. A carousel four squares down attracted no one. That's screwed up.

I have found out that the park inspectors report on your park and thoughts can be sent to console, but since there is only one, how can you run a whole park like Six Flags or a Cedar Point designed "Custom Scenario" ?
park inspector
whenever i try running the game, i get
"your graphics or hardware drivers do not meet the minimum requirements to run RCT3"
i dont know how to figure out what video card or whatever i have- but is there some setting perhaps that i need to be in to run the game?
thanks in advance
