If The Scream Machine Must Go, Then Where?

If it wasn't a Marvel license, I think Green Goblin would be a good theme for a stand up coaster.

I once thought of this very idea as a new ride/rides for Islands of Adventure. A green stand up for Green Goblin and an orange stand up to duel with it themed to the Hobgoblin. The rides would be collectively named Goblin Wars. I even built these with RCT when that game was popular.

As to where the GASM could go, remember this is Six Flags. This is the same company that installed an SLC in the same park that has a B&M invert AND Chang, a B & M stand up, was originally going into a park that already had Iron Wolf, the first B & M stand up.

So I wouldn't be surprised if GASM went to.......

Six Flags Great America, Gurnee, Ill.

The only thing that comes to mind when I read the word Jezebel are the lyrics to a KMFDM song.

I had the same reaction. And to bring it back home, that song is played on the midway in Marvel Super Hero Island at IoA.

I will miss the Great American Scream Machine. This coaster made history by being the first to have 7 inversions. I personally LOVE old Arrow loopers and their history. I am VERY sad to see another go away. I could care less about Chang, I am not a fan of stand up coasters, they bore me. I would rather GASM anyday. I think this could be a capacity mistake too. If I remember correctly, Chang only has TWO trains, with SEVEN cars each, so they are going from 3 trains of 28 to 2 trains of 28 and a much longer loading/unloading process. We all see how fast they get Superman trains out...

It was the second...Jersey was supposed to get the first, but when permitting problems caused delays, they sent the coaster to SFGAm. To give Jersey something to brag about, they made it three feet taller than Shockwave.

So they still do that? That's awesome. I remember coming off of the Spiderman ride the first time I rode it, feeling all pumped and then hearing that song blaring in the midway. It was just a perfect complement to my day.

I wonder sometimes if people enjoy or even notice the little nuggets I mix in to our music here.

Hopefully they will have more than 2 people checking restraints but I doubt it. If Superman and Bizarro had 4 people checking restraints, loading would probably be a lot faster since with only 2 ops, it takes forever. It also won't help that most people visiting the park probably won't know what to do with the restraints. It's simple enough for the other B&M coasters but this seems more complicated with having to adjust the height of the restraint and bicycle seat.

If SFGrtAdv runs this stand up the same way they do Riddlers Revenge at SFMM you dont have to worry about long restraint checking. Unlike Mantis, they countdown when the seats were locking and that was IT. If you're sitting, tough, if the seat is 12" under your butt, tough the train is sent out.
I cant figure out why CP bothers assisting the idiots who dont understand STAND. That is why Mantis, even with just 2 trains is a stacking nightmare.

Nobody else thought of the biblical 'Jezebel'?

And on topic: GASM-II is scrap. I liked the megaloopers, but their time has passed.

Are you kidding Jo? I'm sure they don't want anyone to hurt themselves.

Fun fact: Jezebel was also the intended name for what is now Georgia Scorcher

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!

Jezebel was thrown out of a window. Seems more appropriate that GASM @ SFGAdv had been named Jezebel... ;)

The chance of that is too remote to even worry about it. Ask former ride ops if they've ever been on the ride standing backward. That restraint is a fairly adequate cage, and while it wouldn't be particularly comfortable to "sit" in it, it's not going to hurt you.

People "sitting" on stand-ups was just one of the arguments re: the Chang conversion. Different parks, operators, patrons - all standups have been ridden in the seated position. Some parks are just pickier about it than others are...

Georgia Scorcher is a wayyy better name than "Jezebel"...

I was going to mention this also. Have seen the same thing on Scorcher and was amazed they would send the train out like that. Saw people actually squatting down on the seat, knees fully bent as it left the station. God forbid if CP would do such a thing on Mantis.
