HW 2009

OMG. that lift looks WICKED
Someone also called that you can enter from HW or SS.

Ride looks great. Will Koch for President.

Initial thoughts from the (possibly limited in detail) video:

Lift is unusual to say the least

No evidence of a "bridge" over the splash zone, probably for the best anyway.

Interesting position relative to Voyage and current dead end of Thanksgiving section.

No (visible) method for evacuation. (again, I know the video is probably lacking in detail).

HUGE holiday World sign at top of tower.

using Intamin's OTSR's (same as Kingda Ka, Maverick, Storm Runner etc) from the looks of it, too. Huh.
Where do you see the OTSRs? I looked at the videos and didn't see them...

Read the entire press release here.
OTS restraints (from the video)
in the schematic/blueprint at the bottom of the new2009 page.
Boy I really hope Intamin has the kinks worked out on this one.
More Shade Structures in SS! Legend Lot improvements! They listened to me! (See Page 7) Thanks!

I can't wait to ride the Pilgrim's Plunge! I hope they add a "splash bridge" for the spectators, but I'm not complaining if they don't.

What a great day! Thanks so much HW!

Eric

Looks to me like it's using the rocket coaster OTSRs without the shoulder bits. So an over the shoulder lap bar.

I can has signature?

at the 53 second mark you can clearly see the OTS
Or you can read all the press releases at Holiday World's website instead.

Ok, so where is this access road and traffic signal?

It says "East of the Park", I would have thought the more important spot would be at the main intersection to turn Right to the Raven Lot, or Left to the Legend lot.

I'm confused. *** Edited 8/26/2008 4:24:47 PM UTC by CreditWh0re***

Ah, yes.

RESTRAINTS: Individual, double-hydraulic valve, overhead lapbars.

I can has signature?

$4.3 Million? Seems like a sweet deal for something that's basically a prototype, and something from Intamin.

The idea of a giant shoot-the-chutes sounds great for Holiday World (I've been a subscriber to Moosh's "theory" from a few pages back for a while now). I'm fearful of the lift system.

This looks to be a new application for Intamin's 4-pipe track design but only on a much larger scale. I'm a little concerned about the fact that there's two separate lifts. I'm also concerned as to how the platform will stay level when ascending or decending. Notice that the lift tracks/structure isn't perfectly straight. Very neat concept and design, but I'm skeptical. My opinion might change once more info is release, but it just feels like there's too many things that could go wrong, and Intamin's track record doesn't help. Perhaps I've seen it here in Northern Ohio too many times :)

Just my $1/50

so.....

If you go two football fields (plus) beyond The Voyage, where does that put the Geographic Center of the Park.

Ok you google Earth gurus, hop to it.

Yeah, I was about to freak a bit about the lap bars. My interest level would have plummeted (haha) if these were for-real OSTR type thingies.

Still, it looks, uh...interesting. I hope it works?

The lift frightens me. Seriously. And like Shivering Tim said...I'm rather leery of anything Intamin...especially in the first season.

But I hope they have access so people can get wet from the spray. Can't waste all that water just on the riders.
