Hahahahahahaha. Mamoosh strikes again. I was just saying that to someone the other day, only my conclusion is that it felt like the off-season around here.

I was just curious about this, but what are those old footers for that are in the grass?
Where in the park did you see this? I'm guessing you are referring to a few old footers up around Holidog's FunTown, the former home of the Firecracker roller coaster.
Happy 4th! Paula

I was thinking of those visible from the Raven queue, looking down toward the dive tank.

I'll bet those are left over from 1992, when we had a bungee tower for one year instead of the high-dive show. Does that sound right?

While Holiday World may be a small park it offers an experience that the corporates could never deliver. The staff at Holiday World are without doubt the friedliest you'll find in the industry.
The first time I visited the park it didn't take long to feel at home. They have made a believer out of me that great things come in small packages. Everyone should be lucky enough to have a park like Holiday World close by. Unfortunatly, that isn't the case.
To those who want to post unfair negative comments about this wonderful park I say you're morons and don't waste you're time traveling to Holiday World. I think they have a two idiot per day limit.
Many thanks to Mrs. Koch, Will Koch, Raven Mave and all the staff for making SRM 2002 an extremely memorable event.

Legend is just plain awesome but it doesn’t quite beat Timbers for my #1 spot and Raven didn’t really do to much for me but I thought it was really good coaster none the less!!! (Still in the top ten, just not #1) I hope to make it back some day but close to an 8-hour drive is real far to drive in one weekend!!!!

Paula I've been wondering, why did Holiday world ditch the old Firecracker?

We sold it to another company...
We were looking to put in Holidog's FunTown in that spot, so when the offer was made we took it.
My husband still whines about it being gone. :(

I'm glad to see Paula come out with the 22% figure because I was feeling a bit naughty when I posted how I overhead Will Koch talking about attendance on Saturday, June 22nd, being up 23% with more than 12,000 guests in the park (I forgot the exact figure, and a for a second I thought maybe I had misheard 23% as 2.3%). My family was the last to leave the park that day, and just to see Will's excitement at how well the season was starting out -- and the fact that it's well past 10 and he's there until we got shuttled away -- speaks volumes for the integrity and dedication of the Koch family.
It was our first time there that weekend and later this week my sister and her family will be out there based on our testimonial alone. And we're not locals by any stretch. We're in Florida.
An interesting tidbit, unlike the bingo games at the church parlor or the cruise ship, the weekly bingo games at the park's campground find all of the money put in going back to the jackpot winner later that night. This came from one of the shuttle drivers, a dead ringer for Santa himself who just happens to be married to the lady who calls the bingo games (and lives there too). That tells you all you need to know about Holiday World's mindset. There's no gouging. The success that they are reaping this season will come back to reward its guests next season. Traffic up 22%? That's I-1 on your Bingo card folks!
Does the park have flaws? Sure. Thankfully. Would anyone want to ever experience a perfect park? Knowing it would all be downhill from there? I'd much rather see Holiday World, or any park for that matter, improve with every passing season.
Rick
