Holiday World event 2012: Does this work?

Jeff's avatar

The last two years for the Fall Affair at Holiday World, we did the event on the last weekend for the water park. This year, they've got private events booked the last two weeks with Splashin' Safari.

So here's the question: Would you rather have the event on the last Saturday in August, with the water park, or would you rather wait until Sept. 22 or 29? Alternately, they're also doing Halloween events during October weekends.

We can't possibly have the perfect answer for everyone, but what do you think?

I would love to go during their new Halloween event. Or, my 2nd choice would be in August for the water park.

I will be at Holiwood nights this year and wouldn't be disappointed if the water park were skipped for Fall Affair. Visiting them at Halloween would be nice as long as it doesn't conflict with Phoenix Phall Phunfest. Especially as a new event before it becomes crazy popular and just as crowded as any other time of year. :-)

PPP at Knoebels has always been the weekend after the Bloomsburg County Fair. As long as that holds true, PPP will be on October 6th this year.

^ Yep, PPP is also the same weekend as the Covered Bridge Festival, which Knoebels has posted as Oct. 5-7 on their website.

I'm in the minority in wanting the water park since HW's is one of the best and ERT on Mammoth would be epic, but it seems a weekend like Aug 25th isn't appealing for many (though maybe Gonch could make it then finally?!) and the new Halloween activities are also intriguing some as well...so it seems like a Halloween weekend is going to win out.

Still not early enough in the year to avoid school and fall activites. Either weekend would come down to dumb luck for us.

Hi coaster enthusiasts. This is Dan Koch from Holiday World. I have enjoyed following this site over the years. Since my brother's passing I have taken a much higher profile in running the business. I miss and love Will tremendously. I know how much he enjoyed his time spent with all of you over the years. I want to continue that relationship and have begun getting to know many of you. We can never replace Will but I am thankful for all Will did during his short time on Earth. I respect all your opinions and Paula and the rest of us here at Holiday World are humbled by the opportunity to host events like Holliwood Nights and other events.. We look forward to growing the park in the years to come and many, many fun filled events with all of you. I hope we can continue to find dates and times that work for the vast majority of you, but I know getting dates exactly right for all of you is an impossible task, so please understand that we try to do our best when scheduling these events. Thanks and I can't wait for opening day! See you soon. If anyone is bored they can follow me on twitter at HolidayWorldDan. Tweet Tweet and night night!

That just shows the awesomeness that is Holiday World. How many parks do you see actively posting on online forums, let alone have 2 different people from the park doing it. Great first post Dan. I'm sure what ever date Jeff decides will make for a fun and successful event. :-)

Thank you so much for the kind words. After Will passed, many were surprised to learn that I was his silent business partner. He did such an awesome job, I really was a cheerleader for him but was involved in all planning decisions with him, including our rolling 5 year and 10 year plan. Will and I spoke every day, including the day of his passing on June 13, 2010. He was his usual super optimistic self on that day. We will continue with our plans to grow and develop. We have a big area north of the Plunge that needs developing. We are so excited about our future and hope all of you are too. See you at the park!

I think you should combine the water park and Thanksgiving with a giant pool of gravy. Enthusiasts would love it! Seriously though, everyone can't wait to see what's next.

Uh, boy ... I guess I've put it off as long as I could.

Dan and I need to have the "gravy talk."

Thanks, Jeff. You're a pal.

I would love to see the event in late September or sometime in October (as long as it doesn't conflict with PPP). We always make a trip to Cedar Point in October for a Halloweekend, but I'm seriously considering changing it up this year and I've been dying to get back to HW.

EDIT: Jeff posted his "bing gravy buffet" as I was writing this.... the second result in the list gave me a good laugh... :)

Gravy Oasis? A gigantic free for all in the cornfield north of the Pilgrim's Plunge. Let me get with our design team right away. Good gracious- I've lost my mind! Well, there wasn't much to lose anyway! Ha ha! See you in the gravy bowl. Sorry Paula, I blew our announcement for 2013.

I actually own a copy of the original set of "Coasters and Gravy" films...they're on VHS tape though.

Good to see you've decided to lose your mind, Dan...it's all downhill from here you know. :)

Remember, Jeff ... we'll always have Cupcake the Clown.

(Still having nightmares ...)

And, Dan ... we definitely need to have the Gravy Talk! :)

The gravy talk? When a mommy turkey and a daddy turkey love each other very much and it's thanksgiving...
