Holiday World Announcements- 10 Days!

I don't know about any of you, but I am very excited about Holiday World's announcements. Paula has mad it very clear that there will be 3 new rides or attractions. What are you HOPING that they will be? Really, I would like to see a carasouel, and some speed slides in the water park. And, since I know we wont see a coaster, I would really like to see a water ride, like that at Cedar Point, Snake River Falls. The specfic name has blew my mind, sorry. But,that's what I would like to see.
I would actually like to see a nice Huss flat ride because they are slightly lacking in that department. I know that there will also be something new in the waterpark, too. I'm hopin' for some Proslide mat slides. Those are really fun.

After being cancelled more times than I can count with one finger, the main event of my summer o-three:
5 people vs. 15 parks & 103 costers and counting

Well, after reading an article about HW in Funworld this month, I know that Splashin' won't be getting any speed slides. Will Koch stated he would NEVER add speed slides to his family water park.

I still think a Chance custom carousel would really help round out that park in the worst way. A dark ride would also help the attraction line up. I think the water ride you are talking about is an Intamin Spillwater or a Hopkins Shoot the Chutes.

TR2k3....GET READY!

Do speed slides draw too many people who are not with a family? I'm afraid I don't understand that statement.
Speed slides have a height requirement and can be scary for some people. This splits up the family.

Three more wooden coasters! w00t! ;)

You know, what could be more family then a Wild Mouse? Four people to a car, fairly inexpensive, sounds like a possible idea...???

I'd like to combine Chris' and Art's idea..make a wild mouse dark ride (ala Exterminator at KW)...

Coaster Art Guy!!!!!!!!! Yeah, I'm witcha man. That would be a perfect addition wouldn't it? I'm for anything dealing with crazy mice in small places. How about a suspended Super Soaker ride, like Roller Soaker down in that field next to Zoombabwe? Any Carousel would be beautiful, but HW would never undercut the consumer by bringing in a carny style Merry-go-round.

*Sigh*, how I enjoy discussing the greatest family owned, family park without any annoyances. SRM in 186 days, btw! Why do we have to wait that long. Anyone interested in camping with a party-type crew, let me know.

-----------------
There's nothing like a woodie...

Those Roller Soaker's are pretty expensive. RCDB lists that the Flying Super Saturator cost $4,000,000.00 and $2,500,000.00 of that being hardware alone.

I like the Wild Mouse idea just as long as it isn't tame like The Fly at Paramount Canada's Wonderland. If they do get a Wild Mouse and they are REALLY smart, they won't go with Mack, but with L&T Systems since they are less expensive yet are still good quality and pack quite a punch.

Well, we know that at least one of the new additions will be "high capacity", which would eliminate a mouse.

If they WERE to add a mouse, I'd LOVE to see them build a wooden one. There were two on the first week of the ACE Europe trip, and they were both incredible rides.

Paula mentioned that the park will not be building a coaster for 2003.

Am I really bummed? No, not at all. Whatever the park builds will be great.

Since the mine ride (Mine all mine) won't be coming THIS year, a shoot-em-up dark ride definitely gets my vote, although I wonder about capacity on most dark rides. I also like the Carousel idea (not for myself personally, but for the park). Zierer Wave Swingers are always a BIG hit....

But #1 without a doubt, would be to give the SRMers a "surprise present" a boost the flyers just during the event. I know the maintenance crew would just *love* that idea, but it would be a great present for the "snapping crew"....:)

Gator - you've hit on something there. I think a Wave Swinger-type ride would be PERFECT! Fun, definitely high capacity, and something the entire family can ride together. Why didn't I think of that before?

There's one at Bonfante Gardens shaped like a giant mushroom [not sure if its Zierer or Zamperla or some other maker]. The thing is MASSIVE...the largest I've ever seen! And DCA has one, too, with bee-shaped seats. Imagine the fun theme ideas one could come up with for one of these at Holiday World.

Well...I guess we'll all know soon enough. But I do love guessing ;-)

Well, you can't leave yourself THAT wide open there, MatthU....the possibilities for clever responses are virtually limitless..... See ya at SRM '03, if not before...setting up for CAC ASAP, and other acronyms in abundance....

edit: The *guessing* IS where the fun is, isn't it? But HW had *better* add a coaster, or I'm never going back again.....ROFL. Will could add *squat*, and my plans wouldn't change a bit!

Most speed slides or the ones at VF are not all that fun. They give you a wedgee(sp?) at the bottom. But for a family park (HW) they have TWO rides that are much more EXTREME than anything @ VF. Of course I am talking about the two woodies. Speed slides would be cool if they are designed not to give you that wedgee at the bottom.

Are there brakes on the slides at VF?

I meant to comment on the capacity problem with the Wild Mouse. I'd also like to see a park get a Viginia Reel from Arrow and I think that couldn't be more perfect for any park than HW. That would give redman his spinning wild mouse (although that's not the aspect he was talking about with Terminator) and Gregleg his wood wild mouse...Of course that isn't eliminating the capacity issue at all...just another thought for an expansion past 2003.

Arrow is not here to make any Virginia Reels anymore and the virginia reels of our time that have been made are pretty pathetic and have very little variation in height and layout, and the cardboard walls that one in Europe had just killed it for me. I'd stick with a spinning wild mouse. Could they build a drop tower?
