As Disney is my favorite chain of Parks, They do tend to offer a darker, more somber tone to some things, (The Phantom Manor, DINOSAUR!, Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror, etc.) It's all about the story telling. Disney has it's dark past just like any other company. You don't have to portray sunshine, and rainbows all the time. (Disney is rumored to replace Maelstrom with a Frozen themed ride. Which is kind of why I'm irritated right now. Hopefully it stays a rumor.) I think the beauty of the amusement industry is just how well they can tell stories, or theme rides. Holiday World is definitely my favorite Non-Disney park. They cater to the individual in a way that no park can. I'm not saying they sugar coat everything, or that it's even an issue. I'm not complaining, I was insinuating a light hearted joke. I've spent literally days upon days, months, and years of my life at Holiday World (Former employee). I hope nothing but the best for Holiday World and I will continue to be a devoted fan and support whatever they so may choose to do.

That's what she said.
Darn right that's what she said.

If by sugar coating you mean Disney glosses over or skips entirely the darker side of history, I'd have to say I'm ok with that.
I don't know about that. I always thought The American Adventure was pretty honest about the depths we came from (and that we may be doomed to repeat them over and over again).

Well, yes. In a sugar coated way. :-)
Actually, I thought about that particular show before I mashed the send button. I agree it portrays the US and our history in a more honest light, complete with our tragedies as well as triumphs. It remains one if my favorite Disney attractions of all time.
It also comes with the Liberty Singers, the outstanding a capella group that performs a short show featuring Americana music under the lobby rotunda. If you can catch them singing the show closer, Golden Dreams, you're in for a treat. Brings tears to my eyes every time.
Maybe after the Thanksgiving expansion, hopefully a Halloween or Fourth of July Expansion will be next.
A wing coaster could fit the profile of the park. Lots of people claim "not family enough" but look at Dollywood. They pulled off a wing coaster that families flock to in Wild Eagle. Even "Voyage" satisfied the enthusiast crowd while making families happy. I'm sure a wing coaster fits what Holiday World would be looking for.
Steel coasters to rule out most likely include fourth dimension models, any Intamin product, Vekoma coasters, and (insert random model I've forgot here).
I could see this being a Gertslauer or some sort of Maurer Söhne coaster as a total curveball.

I don't even know how to respond to this.
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."
^"It worked for Dollywood...? Now *that's* entertainment...?"
You're right, there is no adequate response...
Let's all forgot about how Pilgrim's Plunge/Giraffica caught everyone by surprise. Half of the community embraced it while the other half claimed "ruined forever!" at the decision. I'm sure it would still be around if not for the awful maintenance issues and low capacity.
What's outrageous about a 140ft coaster, some inversions, wing seats, and a reliable ride? Not much more outrageous than a 15oft wooden coaster, copious amounts of airtime, an intense bowl section which requires constant maintenance, and arguable one of the most intense true wooden coaster experiences. They've been looking into a steel looper option for quite some time.
Idea which are shot from the hip are met with immediate ridicule? Nothing wrong with tossing something out there for discussion.
Don't forget that Pilgrims Plunge promised to deliver a wall of water reminiscent of Moses crossing the Red Sea. Clearly that was "water under the bridge" by the time the removal decision was made (insert *sunk cost* joke here), but the ride as announced was never the ride as constructed.
Question: Have they made any progress towards removing Pilgrims plunge still? The last time I went, they still had the water and trough in there. My other question is what is main rumor of what might be going in there? I know I've been hearing steel coaster, but of what kind? I know you guys said Wing coaster, but how come parks never put in Floorless models anymore? This would be the perfect opportunity to build the world's longest and really put Holiday World on the map.

Throwing crap up against the wall to see if it sticks and tossing something out for discussion are not the same thing.

No one outside of enthusiast circles would understand or care about HW having the longest floorless coaster.
As of HoliWood Nights (last weekend), there was nary a sign of activity around Giraffica's station or its cement water "canals." Some are speculating that the remnants will be incorporated into the new addition but I can only see them reusing the station if anything. Perhaps they are waiting until the offseason to rip out the cement and such due to its close proximity to Mayflower.
On the subject of the world's longest floorless coaster, that would likely run $25-30 million and I don't think an investment that size is likely for the park. Given the park's size and attendance trends, that seems a bit over the top. We know that the total investment for 2015 is in excess of $13.5 million so I would say $15-20 million is a bit more believable range.
I personally am hoping for a Mack launcher and it seems something like Blue Fire could be had in the aforementioned price range now that it's no longer prototypical technology.
I am thinking B&M but I am hoping for Intamin. I know they upset people with some rides, but they are the only ticket to the top of the steel charts. HW is one park who may build a ride with that in mind so I am hoping they do. I guess you could get up there with the newer Rocky Mountain Construction type ride too. I am just pretty sure B&M will never make it.

I'm pretty sure HW wants nothing to do with Intamin after the train wreck that Plunge was.

"Upsetting some people" isn't really even the issue. Their list of engineering and design failures is long, which is why "some people" give them a hard time. It's justified. And I don't see why Holiday World would purchase another Intamin ride after all the issues they had with their last one.
Out of all the rides I worked when I was employed by Holiday World, Plunge was the most unreliable piece of crap I've ever had the displeasure of operating. So I HIGHLY doubt that any Intamin ride will be coming to Holiday World in the distant future. (If ever.)
