Heide Park announces 412 ft. coaster

Posted | Contributed by The Jet Coaster

Amusement Business reported November 5 that Heide Park will build a 412 ft. tall Intamin roller coaster. The coaster has not been named.

I get a sense of deja vu with some of these posts.  Anyway, i don't know about everyone else, but this is one of the most exciting things i have heard in the coaster industry in a while.  Even if it is in germany, the mere fact that they are making one hopefully means that one stateside can't be far off.  I seriously want to plan a trip to europe even more now.  Does anyone have a direct link to the announcment or layout??

This doesn't have anything to do with Cedar Point, and you're crazy if you think they're going to build a 400-foot ride. Get over it.

Not that I'm trying to disagree with everyone, but according to the webpage that BMCoaster posted yesterday, it has the following information on the bottom of it:

This rollercoaster will be the heighest in the world, with hills of 60m heigh, and a top speed of 170 km/h.

Now, using the conversion tool out at http://www.sciencemadesimple.net/conversions.html

I plugged in the 170 km/h and then converted that to Miles/Per Hour, and got the following result:

170 Kilometers per hour equals 105.633 Miles (statute) per hour

At the same site, again using the info that was posted by BMCoaster, I converted the height (60m heigh).  I'm assuming that the little m is for Meters.  If that is the case, then 60 Meters equals 196.85 Feet.

Again, just for reference, accoring to the webpage that I made refence to above, 125.578 Meters equals 412 feet.

Is that a typo on the page, or is that not the height of the first hill?

Again, not that I'm trying to say that Amusement business is incorrect, I just looking at what data is presented on a given webpage, and showing what I come up with when I do the conversions.

In any case, this sounds like it is going to be a kick butt coaster, and I'm glad to see that the rest of the world is getting into the coaster wars.  Hopefully, this will mean bigger and better things here is the states.

This just confirms my beliefs that Intamin is out to kill everyone.
Please do not say teracoaster again? It sounds stupid for one thing. Secondly it sounds like a terrain coaster then, terra-firma. Besides it means nothing about the actual measurement. Tera is also like tertiary, which means third.

wow! this will either be a big hit or end up killing every one who rides it, o well, i still cant wait to ride it:)
actually, tera means a thousand billion. just like giga means a thousand million. it's just the next SI prefix bigger than giga, so everyone started calling it that. maybe if you knew what it meant you wouldn't hate it because of other things it SOUNDED like.
wow, did anyone ever take high-school physics? Velocity (speed) is only one factor in determining G forces. If the coaster has a long pullout (meaning it goes from steepest drop angle to flat gradually instead of suddenly) it will not have too many G forces. Theoretically, this could have fewer Gs than a junior coaster.

Oh, so for one person, we must stop using that term?!

Doesn't matter to me (I'm deaf). I wouldn't exactly know; I do know how to speak with my voice, though, but it isn't a big deal.

Besides it means nothing about the actual measurement. Tera is also like tertiary, which means third.

Neither does hyper nor giga have anything to do with actual measurement. What Jeff said, it's just marketing. And I consider 400+ a third generation of hyper coaster. First being the traditional hypercoaster, then gigacoaster, then finally teracoaster.

Anyone can use whatever terms they please. It isn't a big deal.

GregLeg: Nice webpage explaining physics! I have it bookmarked. I heard Goliath was clocked at like 88 to 90 mph; but this isn't like people claiming that MF goes over 100 mph (around 10mph difference, that's insane, and as you have proved false!).

On a side note -- I still WANT to go to Germany! :)

Yeah, good luck, you couldn't even get your parents to take you to IAAPA =)

Ya know, I can just see the headlines now.

Intamin kills entire population of Germany with 412 foot coaster!  "Oops!," says Intamin president Sandor Kernacs.

Comeon, that was funny.  Laugh, damnit.

412ft thats pretty high I want to ride it.As many people have said what next 500 600 maybe even 700 which is really high.Well I know next summer I have to take a trip to Germany. Yeah right that be the day
I have been to Cedar Point, I have been to a few Six Flags parks.  I know that Some Six Flags parks are good and that some aren't so good.  Cedar Point has some of my favorite coasters, but there are some great rides that I like that are at Six Flags Parks.  Sure, maybe Six Flags isn't always "original" with all of their rides, but I haven't ridden a roller coaster that I haven't enjoyed and I am sure that many of you would agree with me on the following:  I wouldn't mind having any of those rides in my back yard :)

My Top steel: Millennium Force, Magnum XL-200, Raging Bull, Desperado, Speed the Ride. Wood: Viper, American Eagle, Twister II, Zeus, Cyclops.
>Six Flags isn't always "original" with all of their rides.
Six Flags? Not original with their rides?

Six Flags debuted the River Rapids Ride (Thunder River, Astroworld), the inverted looping coaster (Batman SFGAM), the Mine Train (SFoT), the log flume (SFoT) .. the spiral impulse coaster (SFO/WOA) and soon, we'll have the worlds first 4D coaster at a six flags park.. plus i'm sure dozens of other rides that are escaping me at the moment.

I haven't seen cedar fair debut one original ride out of all their parks. Just because MF is tall, doesnt make it "original".. it just makes it.. "taller"... Just because PP is steeper doesnt make it it original, just "more steep" ...

I'm sure some of the SF "firsts" can be disputed but I don't want to get into that again.

Finally, no more disputes over the tallest and fastest(assuming this project goes through smooothly).

Damn that's big!

isn't this post about Heide Park not cedar point

i say Coaster Buzz Club forms an event overseas!

anyways, when will they release the name? does anyone know that?

i think they should have waited until construction time to announce such a beast like this.... i mean EVERYONE is going to be wanting to see how the progess is going, and if they don't get started until next year (granted 2002 is only 30 some days away) i'd still like to see some pics of it's progression soon!
