Has Cedar Point gotten a little too full of themselves?

You're missing the point.

Cedar Point isn't bragging, thinking they're the best - they want you to. This isn't a blog or personal site...it's a commercial website.

Advertising. Marketing slogans. Catch phrases. Buzz words.

Are you familiar with these?

The idea is to create excitement for the product that results in more customers. Thus earning the company offering the product more profit, which in the end is the point of running any company.

Those things on television that break up the shows. They're commericals. Many of them show you pretty pictures of products and tie them into phrases like this in hopes of achieving the same result that CP does with their website - lure more customers.

Is this ringing a bell? Anything in the above sound familiar? How many fingers am I holding up? (hint: it's just one)

Gilette - "The best a man can get"

Things like that.

You with us now?

IT'S AN ADVERTISEMENT! It is meant to shed the park in a positive light.

What would people think if their ad said, "Home of 3 or 4 great coasters and some sub-par ones at best"?

Grow up and go to bed.

And Neuski's response would be the abridged version of my post above his. :)

EDIT - I just went to the SF site in hopes of finding similar marketing and found none. I think that speaks volumes.

Six Flags stock closed at $4.15
Cedar Fair stock closed at $30.24

Hey, that there advertising stuff might just work. ;)

And i take it that your the leading authority on everything now?

Actually yes, Gonch is! But don't bother bowing to him...I tried and got nowhere ;)

You're hitting on me awfully hard lately, Moosh. :)

All I have to say is, as far as SFWOA was run, it was just terrible. But upon a vacation to the newly owned Cedar Fair park, I saw a much cleaner park, plenty of trash cans, great service, ride operations were better than they have been in years, and things were painted and fresh looking. I'll take that over any SF park anyday.

OMG!!!!!#@! Those Bastards!!! They're so cocky! I'm gonna go out and buy myself 10 more Speedsticks just to show them who's boss!

What's wrong, Gonch? If you can't take the heat get out of the interior decorator's office ;)

I'm a tease.

(on a side note, anyone have any objections to my closing this? Seems like a trolling attempt to me. Last few moments to get your smartass remarks in... act now!)

Cedar Fair markets peoples opinions, and all of us pro-CF do say those kinds of things about the rides, just gets you hyped up for the park. Obviously a SF fanboy if he's gonna be all over something retarded like an ad to get you hyped for the park.
Dude don't knock on the guy for not smiling at an amusement park. I mean I'm not always smiling at one...especially on a 100 degree day in line 3 hours for dragster...thats a really boring and dull experience, until you ride it of course. But it started to rain! I was pissed! :)

Hold on everyone lets get some things straight. Galven316, if your going to use quotes from CP at least get it right. CP doesnt claim to have the biggest anything (not anymore at least ) As for the BIGGEST smiles on the planet, or the BIGGEST spin cycle on the planet, thats clearly not what they claim. I discovered this campaign earlier myself, and feeling as if I was first to discover I want everyone to get it right. From my understanding the advertisement consists of 7 stamps placed on pictures of the park. It seems to me that after best you can interchange any phase for this campaign. Here are the 7 Im aware of in their correct form, nothign big about em.

BEST Smiles ON THE PLANET

BEST Spin Cycle ON THE PLANET

BEST Vacation ON THE PLANET

BEST Summer-Kick off ON THE PLANET

BEST Roller Coaster ON THE PLANET

BEST White Knuckles ON THE PLANET

BEST Year-Round Getaway ON THE PLANET

So I hope that is clear for everyone now Cedar Point is the BEST place ON THE PLANET, with the BEST advertisement ON THE PLANET, Its safe to say that the BEST place to praise itself ON THE PLANET has brought us the BEST ad compaign since Blockbuster's "The End of Late Fees" ON THE PLANET.

If you reffer to me , I didn't knock on him, he started up with a rant about an ad. AN AD. Just something to hype one up for the park. JESUS!!! *** Edited 4/9/2005 6:05:46 AM UTC by lakecrystal***
Another thing since this seems to be going by the minute lol. The stock for Cedar Point closed a lot higher in price because of all the trashcans! Jeez....marketing doesn't do anything....it's the trash cans. ;)

In before close? (Check out sig moosh!) lol *** Edited 4/9/2005 6:07:37 AM UTC by Kyle Fobe*** *** Edited 4/9/2005 6:09:40 AM UTC by Kyle Fobe***

Cedar Point has the best trashcans on the planet.

Now that would be a totally truthful advertising plan.

I had to open this back up after being out for the weekend. It's too funny.

I say we give this guy a spot at an ad agency. "Worst food on the planet!" "Our service sucks!" "Most e-coli infections!" "Fingers in the chili!" Wouldn't those be great ad slogans for any business?

The nerve of Cedar Point. Promoting themselves in a positive light. Someone should be fired!

"Those responible for sacking those responible for the subtitles have been sacked"..... and so forth. From a person who's been to Cedar Point once I must say Cedar Point was nicer than most parks.

This is advertizing and like i said in another thread people twist things like they want to see them.

Statistics are numbers meant to lie.....
