Has B&M fallen off

Companies build clones because parks ask for them. Not a terribly hard concept to grasp, is it?

No love for the whiners

I think we are just looking for things to complain about. No one has been real critical of B&M's until recently. It's as if we're getting restless and are looking for things to complain about.

I expect coasters to get a little rougher with age. I noticed that when I recently rode Medusa. It isn't HORRIBLE, but it is a little bumpy. And yes TiggerMan, Nitro is a little bumpy. I think it's just because it reaches such high speeds. It is still smooth but there are a few spots that rattle a little. Like I said though, very rough B&M coasters are usually old. I was a little suprised when I rode the NEW Batman: The Dark Knight at SFNE. It's new but it's rougher than any other B&M I've ridden. Don't get me wrong though. B&M has made some incredible rides. I just think they aren't perfect.

B&M builds what parks want. I don't think parks just say we want an inverted coaster in this section of land build us one. I think the park decides on how intense of a ride and number on inversions they want, then B&M will give them several layouts to pick from. I could be wrong though.

As for the roughness I agree most of the problem could just be worn wheels and minor matainance.

Just so everyone is clear, I wont go *THAT* far. The Legend is still the top woodie in my book, but Lighting Racer *is* second :)

And if you all think NITRO, Raging Bull, Kraken, Medusa are getting bumpy, wait till you get a ride on S:ROS@SFA or Poltergeist, or GASM-II. You'll be BEGGING for that B&M smoothness (if you're into that sort of thing).

Have we all forgotten Talon?
As I said before a little few bumps aren't going to hurt a ride at all, its a little unsmooth, but I mean it isn't Arrow Multi-Looper bad.

And think about it. As far as loopers are concerned, what company can you compare B&M to? Arrow? Their multi-loopers are nearly unridable compared to B&M's (sans Tennessee Tornado). Intamin? There aren't many Intamin looping coasters. Vekoma? No.

As far as looping coasters are concerned, B&M is the hands-down winner. Some think they produce forceless rides, which isn't true, but when you consider the alternative, there's no way they can be beat.

I consider Shockwave at SFGAm to be one of the most forceful, intense looping coasters I've ever ridden.

I HATE Shockwave to no end. There is nothing (sans the drop) good about that ride.

Edit to say: By the way, isn't it the fault of the park if the coaster shakes a little bit in the inversions/turns? I mean, it isn't a big problem, but their repair schedule, and inspection practices probably make the difference between a smooth ride and one that eats itself alive. If a bolt or two are a little looser than they should be, or the wheels are a little more scratched up, the ride will be worse.

B&M is a company not a plural noun. Please say B&M is not B&M are. It just annoys me that you people don't have enough intelligence to find the difference between a plural noun and a singular noun.

For example: Bolliger and Mallibard are tired. (the people)

Bolliger and Mallibard is a top coaster company. (the company)

I think Intamin has beat B&M for #1
I agree that some B&M's arent intense like...persay Canobie Corkscrew... Ü

Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone

Nitro? Rough?? OMFG

Nitro has gotta be one of the smoothest and most intense coasters I've ever been on.

have you been on goliath or mf . if you have you probobly would not call nitro smoth or intense infact it is the roughest B&M I have been on and its only a year and a half old . it is also the least intense hyper i have been on. not a bad ride just not the best hyper.

Mamba; The inspiration for SD2K. It doesnt get much better than that. Come to the Midwest;and ride the most underrated coaster in the U.S.

I personally like B&M's. My 2 favorite coasters are B&M's, AC and S:KC. I don't know about Nitro, but in my opinion AC kicks Titan's butt, and Titan is an almost clone of Goliath, which was cited as being more thrilling. Also about roughness, a lot has to do with the park. Last year when my home park was BGW, both of their B&M's were smooth as glass, while I do sense a little roughness in the corkscrews on S:KC. However, compared to other coaster I haven't felt a rough B&M. I don't think they are losing anything, they attempt to cater to a large base of riders, not too extreme not too weak. While I did not find S:UF all that thrilling, it was plenty exciting for my wife. To each their own.

Isn't Canobie Corkscrew an arrow coaster? Can anyone help?

Don't blame ya Nate had the same kinda day man. Also, I do believe that B&M's coasters might just be having a little growing pains I mean c'mon every coaster has a couple problems every now and then its a couple bumps thats about it.

Hey people people calm down. Some of you seem like you get in a fist fight over this. B&M is B&M. They have their own type of design, style, and intensity that sets them apart from all other companies. I wasn't a big B&M fan until I rode Wildfire last week. Even from morning to evening I could feel changes in roughness/smoothness. One thing that makes B&M unique IMO is how their rides perfrom from minute to minute not day to day like most companies rides. B&M found a way or by accident to make each ride on a coaster to be exciting and thrilling because you don't know what the ride will turn out to be. Every company has flaws and bad periods but B&M is certainly not in one right now.

Yeah, I just got back from Holiday World, and Legend certainly comes in a very close second to Lightning Racer.

(cracks up laughing) B&M, rough?! Yah, right. Sure. Ever ridden a wooden? An pre-1992 Arrow Megalooper? That's what I thought.
