Golden Ticket's Getting announced tommorrow!

I'm quite surprised and a bit shocked at several of these rankings - excuse me while I step into the other room, grab a bourbon and soda, and become an alcoholic....

1.) WOOD

- a.) Shivering Timbers - #2 Wood - YAY!!!! Applause... edit: It's my number one; but looking further into the wood category makes me want to keep on chugging this drink....

- b.) Beast - #8 - coulda been higher

- c.) Grizzly - #32 (who's on crack...) - AHEAD of Blue Streak (35), and GET THIS - GWAZI (44) - who's the d***heads responsible for that? Meanstreak - 49 - well, every lemon can have it's day in the sun - I just thought that one had been "picked" and "juiced" a long time ago

2.) STEEL - a bit less surprising but still makes me want to get another drink

- a.) MF (no. 2) - hey, it's a beauiful ride, but it was bound to be dethroned sooner or later.

- b.) Magnum (no. 4) - a bit surprised it's still in the top 5

- c.) Apollo's Chariot (no. 5) - generous.

- d.) TTD (no. 11) - no surprise; everyone knows it's the most intense thing they've ever experienced, but to supplant this coaster ahead of a good steelie takes some balls

- e.) Aplengeist (no. 19) - cough, choke.....come on, we're being more generous here than myself and the boys the last time we were at the strip club and we handed out "sympathy money" to some chick with hail damage..... (sorry to offend but that's the closest thing I can compare it to)

- f.) Big Bad Wolf (no. 42) - a respectable showing for the best suspended coaster I've ever ridden and probably one of the best Arrow coasters of all time

- g.) Wicked Twister (50) - surprising again; decent showing for a great ride that is, admittedly, a bit cookie cutter....

3.) Other categories - no surprise for best capacity(CP), most beautiful (BGW), most friendly (HW) etc. Now that makes more sense.....

Type in your browser www.amusementtoday.com. Then, click the link at the top of the page that is entitled "golden tickets". In the window that pops up automatically, click on either the steel or wood coaster links. If that doesn't work, then get a new computer.

I did! I tried it a million times! It just shows the 2002 results. It shows the same page it showed this morning before the results were announced. And my computer is brand new by the way. I have never expirienced anything like this in all the years I've used the internet. Are there any Computwer Nerds here that know what my problem is. I'm going crazy!

X & TTD don't really surprise me at all. I have them in similar spots on my top 20.

I think TTD falls under the category of "novelty" ride. It was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had on a coaster, but not even close to the best coaster I've ever ridden. Does that make sense?

Same with X. Cool concept, and I really did enjoy the Xperience (ba dum ching), but I've certainly ridden coasters I enjoyed more.

I guess some people just view what is a fun ride different ways. To me, a ride like X or TTD IS the most fun I can have just because they are so unique and terrifying. I totally understand though how some people don't really consider those rides to be the best. Isn't it amazing that we have rides that aren't even roller coasters but "experiences", excuse me "Xperiences"!

OOOOOOOK, moving right along...............

"You know its a good ride when you come into the final brake run wiping tears from your eyes."

X still has not run reliably enough for more people to have ridden it. And it's recently been mired with other inconsistancies like Arrow trains with poor weight distribution that cause rougher transitions. I'm surprised the ride rated as high as it did with all the problems. Just goes to show how well it will do if they ever iron out all the problems.
