Golden Ticket's Getting announced tommorrow!

I think Kraken should make it on the list, but it probably won't happen. It'll be interesting to see where TTD ranks...although it's a truly awesome ride, I don't think it will or should make it to the #1, not yet anyways. I think anywhere in the top 10 would be a great start for TTD.

There you go... that's precisely the reason I've never been a fan of most "favorite/worst/most/least" kinds of topics. The truth is, a hundred people may answer, but does anyone care?

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

Personal rankings are great, in as much as they help a person organize what their own preferences are. But thats just it...personal preferences. I mean even the big rankings (like the Golden Tickets) come down the personal preferences of the rankers (at least for the rides). So like was said earlier, personal rankings are great as a discussion piece but not much else.

And on a side note, how accurate are our rankings anyway? I'm not knocking anyone here (or their memories), but how could one rank one coaster against another, without riding them back to back?

Ok.....I think that MF will keep its place at #1. Theres nothing out there that has beaten it so far since they year 2000. If anything in my opinion I think Dragster is the only thing out there that will beat it. MF is just sooo fast and smooth

"I think that polls and the discussion/debate they bring up are interesting."

But it isn't interesting. They lead to boring over-analyzing and nitpicking: The restraints suck, airtime is better, too slow, too rough, blah blah blah.

Too many polls forget about the only criteria that matters: Did you have fun? If yes, then the ride is a success.

Again, why so much competition? Must the obsession with sports that permeates every facet of our culture.

I really wish Talon would just make the list. Even if it was just number 25 I wouldn't mind. I think it is a great ride, it is smooth and fast. It has a great and varied number of forces, and never loses it's pacing. (Except for maybe the S-Curve). I'm surprised that Steel Force has stayed in the top 10. Even though I hope it stays there, it seems there are a lot of people who think it's kinda boring. I do remember that Apollo's Chariot and Nitro beat it out last year (which I think they deserve). I am quite anxious to see how things play out.

Enjoy the rest of your day at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom.

Why is competition and haggling such a bag thing? Its half the reason this site exists (at least, I thought it was ...) Most of the world enjoys a little competition. If it weren't for it, we wouldn't have half the coasters we do because no companys would be competing for your money.

It really irks me when people blame sports for the downfall of society. Competition is a natural urge, don't make me get all "biology" on you ...

Uh...I guess you're right. I have no clue what I find interesting or not.

While I agree that lists like this are little more than fodder for arguement, I do find them interesting and mildly entertaining.

I've been on 17 of the top 25 steel for 2002 and while many of those coasters would make my list, it'd be in an entirely different order.

I only have 9 of the 25 wooden coasters under my belt, so I don't feel qualified to comment.

A few glaring omissions when compared to my favorite steelies are Talon, Top Gun (carowinds) and Kraken - all of which I'd call top 10, yet aren't even on the Golden Ticket list. Then again, Nitro and AC wouldn't even make my top 25 steelies - so what do I know? ;)

Although this is one of the few lists that seems to have put X in it's rightful position. :)

Dorney Park Visits in 2003: 15

Certainly humans are biologically predisposed towards certain actions but societal influences play a huge role. How else to explain the lack popularity of Soccer in the US? Not to mention old and outdated patriarchial traditions - My coaster is better then your coaster; my car is bigger then your car; my . . . er - nevermind!

Anyway what happens if your favorite ride doesn't make the top of the list? Are you irritated, mad dissapointed, call the people who made the list a bunch of 4 letter words, etc, etc. Why put yourself through that?

It's hard to quantify opinions and unless you personally made the coaster and entered it in a contest and it lost, why take it all so personally?

and Chris - sorry to be crass. If you find it interesting then more power to you. I'm just perplexed at *how* it is interesting.

"The truth is, a hundred people may answer, but does anyone care?"

Well I think personal favorites/top tens are much different than an industry-wide survey. To me the topic of the Golden Ticket Awards is a very interesting one, especially when things get shaken up a bit. I love this years list because it isn't the same-old-same-old. So interms of that, yes... I care.

Think again....

Talon is so underrated.

I have a question: who puts out a press release on a Saturday?

As for ranking coasters: "I rides what I likes and I likes what I rides." I suppose I think some are "better", and others "not so great", but I can't be bothered to actually do much more than put them in Playa-style equivalence classes. They're amusement rides, not stocks.

As for competition, who's number 1, and football season: I teach at Michigan, but I went to Cal, and Cal sucks. Didn't make the games less fun; we knew we'd lose, and didn't really care. I compare that attitude to my students', who walk around like zombies for three days whenever Michigan loses.

I've never ridden it, but I've heard that Expedition Geforce is an awesome ride, I think it might move up in the polls.
