GL Announcement Nov 10

Huh, thats funny. It took them only a couple months to build the waterpark a few years ago. They go up pretty quick my freind.
I wasn't aware that the sun didn't shine on the old Sea World side of the park. I can hear the guest complaints now, "I want my money back...This waterpark doesn't have any sunlight." I feel really bad for all of GL's parkgoers if they move the waterpark. I'm sure that good sunlight was a huge reason that GL put the waterpark there many years ago; like it was in the design plans or something.

Do you realize how rediculous that sounds?

Moving the waterpark to the other side is one of the best ideas I have ever heard. That frees up a lot of room at the rides side for God knows what. Maybe they would put the old Pepsi log ride there. While they are at it, they could give Pepsi Plunge a facelift; it's a really pitiful looking ride.

To me, That's what it sounds like is going to happen.

c'mon guys, the water park is not moving... there is no time to build an entire waterpark in only months. if so, we would have seen many buildings coming down, and dirt being dug.
Are you a betting man?

All I have to say is Geauga Lake is lake with many "LEAKS!" Looks like the holes are beyond patching. *** Edited 10/15/2004 3:55:34 AM UTC by Commish***

Personally with all the nice landscaping on the other side of the lake, that would really make the Gueaga Lake waterpark standout. I dont know but to me I think it beats a concrete jungle. *** Edited 10/15/2004 11:50:11 AM UTC by beast7369***

Agreed, anything beats the Concrete Jungle that they have now. a waterpark would look great over there. at least there'd be shade from the trees.
I think anything can be constructed in a matter of months.
I've seen Fast food restaurants literally pop-up in two days. How? it's beyond me, but they do. These days, They have log flume rides in traveling carnivals that put up in a day. (granted, not permanant, not pretty) but the only steps missing are surveying, placing footers and wiring.

I doubt that anyone outside of the park has been over to the Sea World side in a while. There could very well be work going on over there right now that nobody is aware of.
Because if it's on the Sea World side, no one's going to see it because no one goes over there. Plus, a coaster requires a lot more steel construction, and precision and testing than a waterslide. If the pieces to a waterslide don't match up *exactly*, I'm sure you can jury-rig it a little more than a coaster that has to fly over a connection at 50-80 mph. Plus, there's not too much testing with a waterslide - put the thing up and run water down it. There's no real computer controls or blocking to worry about.

If a park can get a coaster the size of Millennium Force or Nitro (just using big, spread out coasters as examples) installed in an offseason, they can get a pretty massive waterpark installed in the same amount of time or less.

As for the sun shining:

In Ohio...it seems to rarely happen lately ;)

BUT, There is a lot of sun around the Happy Harbor area, and there truly isn't a lot of sun around the rest of the fomer Wild Life park. The only place you can really get a sun burn, is if you sit in the uncovered part of one of the stadiums, since the seats are on the hill.

IF they did move the water park it seems that it would turn much into something along the lines of the Beach, or Schileterbaun (I never can remember how to spell that.) Both parks are built on some good terrain, and have trees everywhere.

Granted you can cut down trees, but it just seems to odd to build a waterpark this far up North in the shade. I do see easier replacement of the park around Happy Harbor with the Wave pool going in around the Dolphin Cove area.

The next question is, would moving the waterpark really clear up THAT much room?

I'd personally rather have the old Sea World part expanded into the dry part of the park than a waterpark. That side just looks so much better. Seems to be a shame to ripp a lot of things out over there if they decided to move the waterpark.

What would you think if they brought back the corkscrew. Although not great it was something to ride. You have got to think that there is overwhelming evidence that it will be no doubt slides. Maybe something like the castaway bay thing at cedar point. I want a hyper as much as the next person, but there is land for that too in the future.

Keep in mind also that the waterpark certainly doesn't have to open at the same time as Geauga Lake. Soak City doesn't open when Cedar Point does.

That allows for more time for construction too.

The waterpark would not clear up THAT much room, with the exception of the wavepool & a couple other key areas, but what it WOULD do is group the waterpark as a whole into one section, and get full use out of the entire park that they own.

The extra space could be used as green-space. It doesn't necessarily have to be used for a ride, restaurant or anything like that. But having it on the other side makes perfect sense since it gives people the 2nd entrance to use in case they wanted to just goto the waterpark & nothing else...
...as well as use the space to group it together so it feels like a waterpark as a whole, and not having to walk under Big Dipper, past Shipwreck falls just to get to some more slides. That seems retarded to have to walk that distance to get from one part to the other.

Not to mention they could really get this looking nice if they use the space wisely, and use the surrounding landscaping accurately, and not destroy everything in its path, leveling it & starting from scratch.

I guess time will tell.

There was more waterpark past Big Dipper and Shipwreck Falls? Geez, been goin' there since the SFO opening and never knew that ... shows ya how well they advertised that one!

I still say that it's probably not going to happen. Hey I agree , it would look decent over there, but what i meant by sun is it's more open, on the wildlife side it's pretty wooded for a waterpark. Which is fine for cali, texas and florida, but northern ohio? Anyway, lets say they do move the waterpark over there. They gonna charge me extra now? Cause charging me extra, especially since i've been going there a long time, and have always enjoyed the combo waterpark themepark, i will not like. lets face it, it was like that long before six flags era, and I certainly dont mind it there. I do belive however that they are gonna change entrances around. It seems they are gonna replace hook's with something in that area. so why would they do that? If they are just gonna up and move it all over there. It is a great idea, and would be even better if it was still free, and you could either A: access it from the south gate, B: come in the north gate, then make your way over to it after riding, or whatever else. but still make it so that you can still circle the whole park. seperate price will definately NOT be "the annoucement I've been waiting for"
Anyone else thinking that the park might get a new entrance gate on the 'ride side'? This area tends to get really congested. Since the closing of Geauga Lake road, I can see them moving the entrance gate forward, which would open up a lot more space within the main gates and cutting down some congestion.
I'd like to see Flyers: They could theme as Snoopy vs. The Red Baron... Throw Woodstock in for colour...

Some updates:

Newsletter says announcent we've been waiting for"...and it then states it's about "Property."

On another note, when I was there this weekend. I was looking around the Happy Harbor area and noticed all the Lake Front Property that has been closed down around Happy Harbor Arcade (closed all year), Water-balloon Wars (closed all year also), Water/jungle-gym/play area (closed all year), Bayou-walkthrough (closed, and fooded all year). All those things exist in the open section of the park this year. If they take those things out, that would clear up quite a bit of land on and a little off the lake.

Nov. 10th is going to be interesting.
