Geauga Lake ride name speculation

Okay, here is a status of some of the names:

RWB: was registered in 1989 to Funtime - currently DEAD.

Villian: not registered

X-Flight: registered by SF in 2001 - currently LIVE

Mind Eraser: registered by Premier Parks in 2000 - currently LIVE

Serial Thriller: not registered

Big Dipper: many registrations spanning diverse industires; only amusement park ride related registration to Chance Industries 2000 - currently LIVE

Double Loop: plural registrations, none amusement park related.

So I think it's pretty clear that the Loony Toons and DC Comics names have to go. It appears that Mind Eraser and X-Flight will need new monikers as well.

They should repaint Batman and Superman to different colors. Cedar Fair always paint there coasters really cool like Raptor, Talon, Xcelerator!

Um, isnt Xcel red and blue like S:UE (baby blue instead of deep blue but blue nevertheless)?

Cedar Fair Forever!

Oh I'm sorry, didnt notice you were a fanboy, I should not have expected anything different.

Well Jeremy, as much as it shames me to say it, I think Xcelerator is more of a teal and magenta ;)

Ps, thanks for clearing up the debate on ride names etc. *** Edited 3/11/2004 4:04:36 PM UTC by Antuan***

Fate is the path of least resistance.

Hey why dont they actually apply a theme to the park instead of randomizing it? They could rename the big dipper son of villian....
Same thing with Mind Eraser...man what a dumb name for an SLC but then again WA(now SFA) chose the name for it in the first place.

Too bad that SFI doesn't just remove the DC comics themed attractions they added & redistribute them to the remaining parks in the chain :( I wouldn't complain if they shipped B:KF or S:UE off to one of their other parks.

You wouldn't complain if they came closer to you, but I'd sure complain if they went further from me.

LOL!

"This ride looks too intense for me!" then. ;)

Well it worked for Outer Limits. Plus with all that is going on I doubt much thought will go into renaming these rides.

Well, Outer Limits sounds like space and has a space theme. It kinda works.

Caution: Wild Ideas Coming!

This is just my opinion, but with all the talk of taking GL and making it into a family owned park, I can see CF bringing it down a notch and stripping it of some of its more or less valuable assets:

1. B:KF - moved to CP in exchange for Disaster Transport. Not that CP needs to make room for it, but DT would fit GL's more "family-like" atmosphere. DT would once again become Avalanche Run (as it was, as it always should have been).

2. X-Flight - moved to WOF or VF. I think people at these parks would eat that sort of ride up.

3. Serial Thriller - Moved to Michigan's Adventure. Sorry MA, but you get the short end of the stick. But from what I hear, ST is one of the better SLC's out there (sorry, can't really say, the last time I was at GL it was still GL and the new ride was Raging Wolf Bobs - when did they paint it anyway?).

This would not signal a trend in ride movement within CF, just a one-time deal to distribute some of the rides they now have so concentrated in within a 100 mile radius. The other coasters there could just stay put. The park would still have a lot to offer and the price could be knocked down for that "family appeal"

(Disclaimer: The above are the thougts and opinions of its writer and should not be considered as truthful or intelligent whatsoever)

Those are indeed some wild ideas. But I don't see any reason any of the coasters should be relocated. That just wouldn't make sense. CF didn't buy a defunct park to redistribute its salvagable rides to the other parks within the chain (much like buying a totalled car for parts only).
X-flight, and villian as far as I know have names that are unique to themselves so they should be able to keep there names. I would then change the fallowing

Batman knight flight--->Enemy. painted with a dark purple or backe supports, with dark burgandy track. I think that the parks top three major rides are X-flight, VIllian and Bkf, so renaming BKF Enemy, would do something to kinda relate the rides.

Serial Thriller---> The Falcon
Superman ultimate escape---> Thunderbird
Mind Eraser---> Boomerang
Roadrunner Express--->Woodstock Express

To be exact, S:UE is a cherry red with navy blue. Xcelerator is coral and seafoam green.

Yeah, but its fun to think about. Anyway, guess that was way off topic. A post above mentioned which names were trademark, I am guessing that only the names that have to be changed will be. Still, Knight Flight is a pretty lame name.

You know... if Villain is slow it's because it's losing a ton of speed to friction and sloppy track gauge.

Those skeptical about Cedar Fair maintenance of wooden coasters have obviously not been on Blue Streak the last two seasons.

Agreed, plus I think they (CF) get a bad rep just two coasters, Hercules and Mean Streak. The other woodies to my understanding are still doing good.

Nor have they been on Ghostrider recently.

I rode Blue Streak last summer and thought it was nearly uncomfortably rough. Valleyfair's High Roller has been neutered in recent years. MIA's Shivering Timbers has become violently rough. I heard bad things about Ghostrider's performance at the con.

Skeptical about CF's wooden coaster maintenance? There isn't any maintenance to be skeptical about!

You heard bad things about Ghostrider? Where? This rave review or that one?

And ST gone rough? From who? Not here or here amongst its most recent reviews on the forum.

Thanks for playing. Please come back and diminish your already non-existent credibility even more.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Even in one of your "rave reviews" you posted, I find: "The first drop is still a little jarring and it has the occasional rough spots but this coaster is still so amazing that I look past it. " Doesn't sound flawless to me. And it certainly sounds like it has deteriorated.

As for Shivering Timbers, I was there. I felt it for myself. The trick track was back breaking. Of course it seems you also didn't even bother to read the TR links you posted for MiA. One of them is all of about three sentences long, and the other clearly says "...interesting helix at the end, which was a bit rough I thought..."

Now, thank YOU for playing. And please stop stalking me.

I wish nate would atleast come up with something origional when he was trying to get back at somebody.

And If CO is anything like me, he only stalks people intresting enough to stalk.

Anyhow, I think that the only things that CF would have a problem procuring(sp?) name wise would be the DC character coasters, and the 2 that are names found in other SF parks. I'd say they'd be willing to get X-Flight and Villian from SF, but I guess we'll have to wait till at least May before we all know for sure.
