Geauga Lake ride name speculation

Why is so much of this thread devoted to Batman: Knight--I mean, Snoopy: Kite Flight?

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Batman: Knight Flight- Probably a Bird of Prey, I'd like Falcon

Superman: Ultimate Escape- Twisted Fury?

Roadrunner Express- Woodstock Express

Mind Eraser- Boomerang

Serial Thriller- The newest attraction at Michigan's Adventure...

In any event, even though CF isn't the greatest at theming, I think the park will be in fairly good hands...and as for the original topic impetus, I agree with Gonch that they'll probably strip the character names and keep titles where they can. Just easier that way.

Though simple, I really don't think they would resort to chopping off the leading word of those superhero ride monikers. It's like trying to sell off The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King as just: The Return of the King. The power in the name is lost there, just like chopping Batman Knight Flight into just "Knight Flight." It's corny and really random.

Well it worked for Outer Limits. Plus with all that is going on I doubt much thought will go into renaming these rides.

Fate is the path of least resistance.

Everyone referred to S:UE as just "Superman" and BKF as "Batman". I doubt anyone can remember the full names to begin with.

So now that CF has acquired SFWo--I mean Geauga Lake--how soon until the "Geagua Lake is out of room." or "Big Dipper is sinking" discussions?

Nasai - all my suggestions were jokes, of course.

And I laughed out loud when I read them. I really enjoyed that.

As far as the ride names go, I really like Kick the Sky's suggestions. The thing is it'll be hard to change every single name of every major type of roller coaster the park has. I'd say if they could get away with it, they should just rename B:KF and S:UE and try to keep the others to avoid widespread confusion.

But like somebody else said if Six Flags has a lot of those names such as Mind Eraser and Serial Thriller trademarked, then they'll just have to rename everything. *** Edited 3/10/2004 11:11:11 PM UTC by Scream Machine***

But Batman (oops, Yellow black unamed ride) is built on a marsh, so it's already sinking.

Chattanooga needs a ITG2 Machine!
Serial Thriller was there when Six Flags bought the park. So they should not have to change it.

Are the only rides needing renamed Batman, Villian, Roadrunner Express, X-Flight and Superman? Although Six Flags parks have Serial Thrillers and Mind Erasers, weren't they named that before SF's purchase of GL?

ST and ME were funtime names that were transfered to SF. My bet is they'll be changed. I'm not sure if Villain and X-Flight will change.

i would like to see B:KF renamed "falcon" but wouldn't the name "Knight Hawk" meet both sides of this argument with it being both a bird of pray and having the returning customers be able to recognize it? imo this works perfectly.
All the naming is good but don't you think they will repaint some of the steel coasters to fit with the new names? I doubt they will have the time to repaint all of them, so I'd like to believe that what Gonch said will happen until next season when they'll have a chance to repaint if they need to. *** Edited 3/11/2004 1:15:21 AM UTC by Mike E.***
I believe Six Flags was managing GL when Serial Thriller was built. SFWoA was not the only SF park with the name Serial Thriller...AW has one too. The name is owned by Six Flags. It's the same deal with Mind Eraser.

I think "Ultimate Escape" is the dumbest name for a coaster I've ever heard.Keep the name simple and call it "Impulse." Keep the "Knight Flight" though. Keep all the names for the woodies. Roadrunner Express will probably be not be changed to Woodstock's Express. More likely Timber Twister to avoid confusion with CP.

I think all the coasters should be named as they appeared in Guinness Book of World Records, like "Blue Stack," and my favorite, "Woodcock Express." Look it up! I forget what year it was from, actually. Maybe 2000. *** Edited 3/11/2004 1:40:04 AM UTC by TTDTom***

Start the Kid's Revolution; the tyranny must end. Free Pancakes.
The big Superman Signs are going to have to go down (in front of S:UE). That'll be interesting to see when its gone. I'm gonna miss those penguins... Will we see another Soak City or will it be Castaway Bay?

Why not have original names instead of copying from other Cedar Fair parks.

How about just "Geauga Lake waterpark"?

It'll definately be interesting to see how bare the park will look if they got to strip the park barren of any refrences to DC comics or Loony Tunes. The ENTIRE Loony Tunes area just has to completely go, since most of the rides & themed parts are just totally unable to swap with Peanuts characters & likelinesses.

The hardest part is Batman: Knight Flight... they've got a few themed houses, including the photo house/souvineer shop & there was a snack shop or two there, too with a sorta DC Comics/Gotham City theme to it, if I remember correctly.

If Six Flags is the park that's taking them away, I know one park that could use some of those props to help theme up its so-called "Six Flags" branding.

I don't think Villain will be changing. I don't believe that name is a trademark that SF owns. SUE, BKF, RRE, ME and ST are, so those will change. The rest (Villain, DL, BD, RWB, and X-Flight) should remain the same.

Agreeing with Jacob G., I don't see CF "copying" names for their other rides, although there are those "name theme trends" like the *birds of prey* series, etc./ Of course, CF hasn't been in this situation before where they needed to come up with names in a hurry.

I do kinda like the idea of "Floorless coaster 1", "Single-twisting Impulse 1", etc. but we know that won't happen, at least unless/until RCT and Chris Sawyer drop a CHUNK of change on CF...;)
