Geauga Lake ride name speculation

Freakoboy127 said:I believe Six Flags was managing GL when Serial Thriller was built.

You are somewhat correct. Premier Parks bought Geauga Lake in 1995 and received Mind Eraser and Grizzly Run in 1996. 1998 was the addition of Serial Thriller. Afterwards, Premier buys Six Flags from Time Warner, hence Six Flags was running the park at the time.

Since CF has several "Force" rides (Millennium Force and Steel Force), they could rename SUE as "Scream Force" since the LIMS sound as if they are screaming at first launch.

As for BKF, a bird name would not work well as they seem to be better for inverts.

X Factor

I agree that Villan, X-Flight, and the like will stay the same. I think the impulse and roadrunner express have probably had their names mentioned here. Just curious as to what CF's first floorless will change to. Hey, isn't X-Flight now CF's first Flyer too?
Batman Knight Flight could just become Night Flight, I guess ("Knight Flight" wouldn't make sense without the Batman in front of it, although that subtlety may have already been lost on non-comics people -- Batman is "The Dark Knight".)

Just look at it this way guys.......you will have a park where half the coasters are renamed and rethemed and possibly repainted, and moved to a different company without being physically removed from their present locations. :-D Would this be counted as extra credits? I don't think so, but some would probably disagree.

In all seriousness, I agree with Gonchar as think some of the coasters should just drop the character name like Batman, Superman, and Roadrunner. I don't see a big deal with the rest, including X-Flight, Villian (which doesn't really represent the character anyway) and Serial Thriller.

Man, you know what? I am going to REALLY MISS that funky Looney Tunes playground beside the ferris wheel and Time Warp. I loved that area!

I'm just curious to know, does Cedar Fair still have rights to the Bernstein Bears. I just wonder since I can't see them repeating all of the Peanuts theming so close to Cedar Point.
My only hope, and I mean my ONLY hope is that they keep up Villain, show it the love it completely deserves, if they are smart they would retrack and get new trains, and then CF would know what it was like to have 2 top ten woodies! PLEASE PLEASE do not Trim Villain to death, that is the very last thing it needs. But go ahead and tear down Raging Wolf Bobs, it sucks.
Can they really trim Villain? I mean, it valley's enough as it is. Some days it CRAWLS onto the midcourse. I doubt they will trim any of that, its perfectly paced. Just put some new trains, weeee.
I'd have to agree. Get some PTC trains and lend those old G trains to RWB. By the way, how is the retracking going on RWB, have they done the other half this off season, or are they just letting it sit?

Yes, I'm sure they will treat Villain really well. Cedar Fair has a real history with maintaining wooden coasters.

You know, my original comment was almost an afterthought - even semi-tongue in cheek. I'm surprised at how many people seem to like the idea. Even if just temporarily.

More importantly I see lots of talk of repainting the coasters. Could this really be done in a matter of weeks? Would SF let CF in before the deal really closes?

I would expect more of stripping of the park - all SF and trademarked/licensed items and images quickly removed for opening day, but still not completely switched out until 2005.

Gonch's word of the day is "Transitional"

2004 will be transitional. Just getting open, working out the bugs and getting a feel for how this is going to work.

I'd say the *real* return of Geauga Lake will be the 2005 season.

But more importantly, do you guys really think they could paint those coasters that quickly?

I'd be VERY surprised to see even one of the coasters sporting a new paint job...but kinda think CF would be wise to *completely* change the names of the rides such as to "erase the memories" of the SF empire....

Please bear in miond that my ONE visit to SFWoA was very pleasant and enjoyable, and that I experienced *none* of the unpleasantness often discussed re: SFWoA. What's important though isn't what *I* experienced there though, it's the fact that the locals *obviously* preferred the better weather offered at the Sandusky park....;)

"Would this be counted as extra credits?"

I knew it was only a matter of time before this was mentioned. And I wouldn't be surprised to see some people do this. Doesn't bother me, really...if someone feels a need to pad their count with bogus additions that's fine with me!

mOOSH

Everyone is concerned with the roller coasters...What in the WORLD are they going to do with Looney Tunes Boomtown! I mean that whole area has 3-D figurs everywhere, not to mention the rides are all Heavily themed to each character. The waterfountains are themed to Looney Tunes.

What about the shops? No call on Snoopy, then what the heck are they going to sell? I guess I have to break out my old Geauga Lake shirts again ;)

All the good food is on the Wild Life Side...now what?

People thought there wasn't much to do when SF bought at Sea World now there REALLY isn't going to be anything to do for 2004 since CF bought SFwoA!

Just when the park was starting to turn around.

I hope CF has a change of faith and knows what they are doing. That conference call didn't sound to promising.

As for the Season Passes...that's messed up!!!

Well guys poor me was hired as a rides supervisor this season on the western midway(Villain to RWB). This is going to be a long year for me. Please dont have to many complaints as we deal with this season.

I really hope CF comes up with awesomne original names for the coasters. Most do need a coat on paint to begin with.

Also the RWB retracking was required by the state so the ride can remain open, it will be done. I think.

How about "Flying Eagle" or "Fright Flight" for Batman? Well, we will see them soon enough.
They should repaint Batman and Superman to different colors. Cedar Fair always paint there coasters really cool like Raptor, Talon, Xcelerator! This is so awsome I just hope they make GOOD decisions and make the park a great park!

Cedar Fair Forever!

Why is everyone keep aligning "Floorless Coaster 1" with the bird rides like Raptor and Talon. Its a completely different coaster. Raptor and Talon are both Inverteds not floorless. But In my opinion, I think it would be cool to bring the "Banshee" name/logo (ie. Steel Force) to this park though.

Michael McCormack

Will the renamed rides count as new track record entries? That's up to the individual, of course, but certainly not in my case...

Ok, so it looks like Villain, X-Flight, Raging Wolf Bobs, and Big Dipper will be able to keep their current names. My predictions for the rides that need to be renamed (bear in mind that Cedar Point probably is NOT going to want to radically change the name if they can avoid it!)

Roadrunner Express ==> Woodstock Express
Batman Knight Flight ==> Night Flight
Superman Ultimate Escape ==> The Ultimate Escape
Mind Eraser ==> Boomerang
Serial Thriller ==> Drunken Pigeon

Ok, so I'm joking about the last one, but it fits with the bird-for-inverted theme (although Knott's is breaking that), AND it describes how you feel when you get off the ride :)

One thing I like about Cedar Fair (in contrast Six Flags), and I expect them to remain consistent when they rename Geauga Lake's coasters, is that out of all 50 of their operating coasters only 9 of them share a name with at least one other Cedar Fair coaster. Additionally, only 2 of the 9 have a name which is not a standard 'clone' name--Woodstock's Express. The others are Boomerang (2), Corkscrew (3), and Mad Mouse (2). The other 41 coasters all have unique names. It doesn't really concern me (or the GP) that Six Flags has 37½ coasters with the name 'Batman,' but it's nice to not have to include the park name every time you mention the coaster. I can say 'Talon,' Raptor,' or 'Silver Bullet,' and everyone should know exactly to which coaster (and park) I'm referring.
