So who is getting the Thunder Eagle? I watched the progress of that coaster's construction and was quite underwhelmed when I finally got to ride it. (And the $5 price tag was steep, even for Pigeon Forge, IMHO).
Dollywood is a fabulous park with great theming and wonderful food. I go several times a year and always get at least 3-4 rides on the Tornado. It's one of my absolute favorite coasters, the airtime on that drop makes me smile every time. It may be a short coaster, but thankfully, that part of the park isn't crowded very often so rerides aren't too difficult.
I knew that a wooden coaster like this would fit Dollywood perfectly. I am so happy to hear about this!!

I agree with Gardener14. Knowing the Herchend way of thinking, they'll probably add another Playground/Family Attraction along with the Coaster. The entire thing sounds like a replacement for Daydream Ridge and Critter Creek Crossing theming that got removed when they built Dreamland Forest.
I'm glad Dollywood is finally getting a 3rd Coaster. The Number 2 has been getting old after about 15 years. (Thunder Express was added in 1989) And thats only if you consider Blazing Fury a Coaster!
The Question is what will be removed to make this ride fit in. The park is fenced in on all sides, unless they go up a steep slope. I've heard that they would one day use the land that the old Dolly Museum and the Lucky 7 Cave are on, but that is on the side of a hill.
Or, they could do the rumors, remove the Slidewinder and put it there. Theres a valley that seperates Dreamland Forest from the Maintenence Road and Dollywood Express Tracks. It sounds like that fits the Description. I'll definatly be visiting Dollywood this September. Thats when they close doomed Attractions.
A Picture from Space can help you decide for yourself.

I doubt they will close the slidewinder because they cleaned it up and 'tweaked' it when the ride was damaged by fire this year. I believe Thunderhead Gap will be above Dreamland Forest in the valley which was pointed out above. From the business wire article maybe they will incorporate the Dollywood Express into the new area.

The coaster laws of marketing end after a 10 year period or if the coaster no longer ranks in "My Bestest Coasters" Lists, so Hercules is non-existant in all advertising matters. I'm not even sure if Dorney remembers or cares they still have Hercules. But I do love their practive of blocking off half of the Thunderhawk train in one train operation. Why hasn't SF thought of this yet to slow down lines and make capacity worse? They also have the great concept of putting more trees in between one coaster than the rest of the number spread throughout the entire park. Only at Dorney.
Hercules at Dorney Park was the first coaster to have what you are calling a "fly through" station.

Now, the post above was a j-o-k-e about Dorney. It's a good park and Hercules was actually better this year (IMO).

Now, what I call a "fly-through" station is one with no line where I can just "fly-through" and jump into a seat of a coaster without waiting. Top Gun at PKI usually has one when it's not having "fly-through" truck day.
