"Forgotten CCI's"

I would like to add a coaster to list : Twisted Sisters at SFKK. I was considering making a side trip to SFKK after visiting PKI. None of the other coasters excite me that much, but one good CCI makes any park worth visiting. So, any feedback on Twisted Sisters? Thanks.

the ONLY reason we tend to forget about TS is that the park's maintenance forgot about it first....OUCH!

Several of the coaster mentioned mentioned may not be discussed much here, but someone has taken notice. In the 2001 wooden coaster poll, Tremors and Rampage mad the top 10, and Megazeph mad the top 20.

I suspect that you don't hear much about them here because they are well away from the major coaster centers in California, the Midwest, and the East. Those are where most of out posters live.

Much like in my signature, I disagree with all the disparaging remarks about the Sistas. While again, nothing stand out, I found them to be enjoyable rides. The duels are forgettable, but since the layouts have suprises, the ride keeps me entertained. I think the pink side was a little better though (less pain on the old legs...curse you G-Trains!).

But all in all "Aint Nothing Like a Sista!" (wait, are we still talkin coasters here? ;))

You couldn't possibly find a bad CCI(save Wicked Twister, that was Six Flag's fault), they design them with such care and quality an can put any park on the map. Excalibur was sweet, especially what cinsider the best finale on a wooden coaster today. The thrill of making a twister in the forest. The people that stop here in Maine have no idea from what to expect from this ride and from what you can see, you have no idea how twisted this coaster will be. Excalibur was such a great creation and I'm glad that it came to be the underdog of the Legend.

Twisted sisters features some great first drop airtme and massive latterals when it's maintained right, The Teal sides final helix used to be insane before they installed a trim. Last year we found a ungreased track and trains that didn't even need the trim to slow down.

Now why is that other woodie there so good? Well, I have been told by Jeff H. That the lubricants actually eat up the Gerstlauers wheel bearings! Thunder Run runs PTC's and has no problems.

But Rest assured Twisted Sisters is a sleeper,

Chuck, who almost considers Thunder Run a CCI even though it isn't and wishes it would have been installed at the park it was meant to go to, Americana!.

I think the Great White is one of the best woodies in operation. I doubt if their is any type of coaster on the Ocean side of the boardwalk that actually competes with it for sheer speed and size. Only the Morey's would invest in such a grand attraction and be able to maintain it to top standards. If there is any other woddie in Jersey thats better, someone pipe up.

The Sky Princess is also not a junior coaster. Its not very high, but with full sized trains, it is a great ride for 'growing up'. If that ride was built in any other park, it would be one of their most popular rides, as all family memebers could enjoy it.

Morey's Pier should loose one of those portable coaster and build a CCI junior or kiddie. It would help the park more than all of those carnival coasters

I can't wait to see what Silverwood will do when they build that wooden racer they have planned. Anyone know if CCI is making it? Thought it will probably be a GCI.

SFLake: The maintenence man you were talking to is a close friend of mine. he now worls for an American coaster company. The track braces installed keep the gauge consistant through the entire ride. They would appreciate the positive comments.
BOSS....I think this is an underrated coaster. A lot of people who dont like it rode it in 2000 when it first opened, and it is running much better than it was that year. In 2000 there was a wicked jolt and slam down at the bottom of the "double-down drop" and right hand turn. That is now gone. Also in 2000, the block brake brought the train to a near hault (except during Midwest Coaster Blast). In 2001, it barely touches the brakes, if at all. This is one intense coaster and is my #2 wooden coaster behind the mighty Legend. Are there stand out points on Boss? I sure think so! Before the 2nd part of the Double-Drop you run straight through the structure of the block/ 3rd hill creating an amazing visual of speed as the wood travels by. The bottom of that drop has a very intense right turn (now fixed), the bottom of the 2nd drop has a similar intense left turn, that pulls major lateral G's. Finally, the Double Helix at the end is great, reminding me very much of the Beast's final double helix...one of my top 3 double helixes (Beast, Legend, Boss) =). So anyway, the Boss is a great underrated coaster that I think just got bad reviews because of some problems it had opening year (but I still liked it a lot then too).

Speaking of less-hyped CCI's, does anyone have any insight into why the Hoosier Hurricane is just so "ok." Judging by the layout and the fact that it's a CCI, one might expect it to be an "air-machine," but it's not. I really think it's fun, and enjoy it everytime, but there's also part of me that thinks "What went wrong?"

Let's just say that those "Sistas", with a *touch* of lubricant, could run pretty smooth, and way faster. The interesting layout was a BIG plus in my book, and I really wanted to like them more...but TR was definitely the "class wood" in that park....and it's S-D!

side note: Chang, now TS...who in SFKK's marketing is paying jeremy to say all these nice things......j/k...

Cannonball Run is a pretty cool coaster (except that this year the turn around was a little rough). As for the park, the big draw is the water area. It has 9 slides, a wave pool, a lazy river, and a kiddie area. The amusement section has go karts, ejecter seat thing of some kind, kiddie rides, a motion simulator, and Cannonball. There is really never a wait for Cannonball and you get to go around twice (except sometimes at night you might get lucky and go around 4 times). They also keep the rides operating until midnight too!

02 parks: SFFT, SWSA, VL, and SFOG!

RGW: And the really funny thing is that after my first visit to SFKK in 2000, I thought it was the worst park I'd ever been to. Other than Chang, the breakdance, and Meteor Attack, I did not like one thing about the park. The sisters were closed. TR was dull like most S-D coasters. The layout is a turd. And the bathrooms were >this< much above the one @ Big Chiefs (not good...) Oh wait the employees were nice...slow as mole's-asses, but nice.

I went back twice last year and had a very fun time (though I think I avoided the bathrooms both times). The sisters are decent, quake was fun, and Chang...well you can tell that Chang wasnt meant to be a "green B&M" =]

lol. One of the only 3 downfalls of Big Chiefs I've noticed. Bathrooms are disgusting, fumes from go-karts are nauseating, and the food court is a joke.

Any way, Cyclops and Zeus are the two of the three greatest woodies I've ever ridden, only Viper beats Zeus, making my number 2 spot. I've gone on and on enough about C&Z in the past year, so I think I'll pass on raving about how great they are... this time.

Hey i rave about how great peagsus is, It is the most pure fun coaster I have ever ridden. Not big ,not fast, not much air but it is very very very fun, that crazy turnaround is just great.

I agree with everyone who has been singing the praises of the Great White. I can't understand why such a good wooden coaster ranks so low (60th, 70th?) on Mitch's poll. Its a top five ride as far as I'm concerned!

It has one of the best beginnings of any coaster, period. Diving under the boardwalk and flying through that tunnel makes it clear, right from the start, that you are in for one hell of a ride.

The first drop is, hands down (hands up?) the best I have ever experienced on a woodie. The back seat offers some incredible ejector airtime which is unmatched by any other. The airtime coming out of the third turn ain't bad, either.

Morey's seems to do an amazing job maintaining the coaster. It is easy to see how the salt water wreaks havoc upon everything down the shore, but the Great White always performs its best. It has a hint of roughness to it, but its a good roughness that adds to the ride experience rather than detracts from it. If I want to ride something smooth, I'll ride a steel coaster like Nitro.

Then there's the ambiance of Wildwood that just can't be put into words...

Agent Johnson, is there any chance that Morey's will ever build another woodie at some point in the future? Someone made a comment about how great a "family" CCI would be... is there a chance that Wildwood will see a situation like that at Indiana Beach, with a so-called family woodie being added to make a good thing even better?

Rode Outlaw on a RCCGB club visit 3 years ago on an unofficial take over and the ride op (now unfortunately no longer an employee! - didn't mind leaving his post on the day) turned the brakes off going into the station - an amazing experience, literally going around the station turns on 2 wheels and only slowing down when we came to the lifthill - probably one of my favourite coaster experiences

Well, if anyone every figured out who I am, they would know the realism there, but for arguements sake, I, and others feel they should lean towards a replica of the Hunt's Flyer on Hunt's Pier, to satisfy to riders who feel the Great White is a bit to much. It could be a version with a steel structure, 5 car trains, and magnetic brakes, to be safe and efficient. CCI could be the builder, b-t-w.

But, for now, the Great White and Great Nor Easter hold there own as the most popular rides. And take this Great Adventure, if you remove Medusa, GASM, and Nitro, you have a nice Animal Safari. No other boardwalks have the rides Moery's have. Period. And where does SF get off saying they have more rides, when Moreys have 89?
