All in all, I have to agree with Magxl200. This is an impressive and helpful site.
Here's To Shorter Lines & Longer Trip Reports!
One small thing I would like to see is a place to put a paragraph or two about yourself in the profile. You could tell what kind of work you do, of if you have ever been a ride opp, or whatever. I can't memorize every posters life experiences, and sometimes I am wondering what people are talking about when they assume that everyone already knows things that they have mentioned a year ago.
AND I wouldn't have to re-explain who JD is, or what parks I have worked at and when, or what my Haunt hobbie is all about.
Just throwing my tiny idea out there. *** Edited 7/26/2005 4:27:25 AM UTC by dexter***

Example:
Gemini Red = .5
Gemini Blue = .5
Total Gemini = 1
Racer Forward = .5
Racer backward = .5
Total Racer = 1
If this was done a failsafe could be added prohibiting the adding of the same coaster twice.
I know that this is a pipedream and would require to much rework of the current code....
Edit:
Or... everycoaster could be given an X value of 1 in the database. Racing coasters could be giving an X Value of .5. (where X is Number of tracks on a coaster divided by 1) A failsafe could limit the posting of a single coaster after it has reached a limit of 1.
In the Track record then (if the sort feature is ever added) one of the options could be to sort by X value (counting racers as 1, which would be the total sum of the users x value) or count by track Value (total number of coasters listed, so racers would count however many times a user has listed it, as the current system is).
The Default view for which the total track record is shown could be chose by the track records owner... but changed by a viewer in the sort feature bar (again, if it ever appears)..
This way, multiple entries for each racer would not have to be entered into the Database and everyone could choose how they wish to count thier racers.
Anyone want a flow chart? ;)

Guess who's back? Back Again? James K's back. Tell a friend.
But I really want to build a new site... you'll just have to be patient. There will be lots of new nifty stuff for club members... that I can promise you. ;)

EDIT: When posting this i found a glitch. While doing quote posting, on a multipage topic, After posting the reply, it jumped back to page 1, and the quoted text was still in the reply box.
Another Edit: It does it when editing too.

I started rewriting the forums more than a year ago, but between my book and then the contract job I'm on now, I've barely touched them. The forum is the foundation for the entire membership system, so it has to happen first.
Dominator56: I've already finished the new rich text control, and yes, it will work in Firefox. It's nice and lightweight too, unlike those found in some forums.
