for the new version (whenever)

Would it be possible to be able to have a clickable column header to control sorting? I'd love to be able to sort my list by park name, but be able to at a click to alphabetical or even ranking...

Just a thought.

Yeah, that's stuff I'm toying around with in my head.

Maybe this is a good place to put pie-in-the-sky requests for v4.

Although unless either ad revenue or club membership picks up, I don't know how motivated I'll be to go to the next level...

Have you considered Google's ad systems (Adsense)? It just seems to me that people on a site like this might be more likely to click a targeted ad, say for a Florida vacation, than they would be to click a "win a prize" SpongeBob ad. *** Edited 7/21/2005 6:14:48 AM UTC by auscoasterman***

Agreed on the ads...I'm not in the market to click on the dating ads, but if I saw an ad to win free tix to Cedar Point or a free vacation to Disney...I imagine a lot more people would click on it. So something more suited towards the theme park destinations, I imagine, would be beneficial to ad revenue.

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

I don't know what you get from these adds, but I do know of online radio stations that easily pocket $500+ per month with google ads. Plus, they dont have near the visitors that this site does.

But back onto suggestions, to add to the coaster list, what about an easier way to rank them by rank number. For instance, If X is my favorite coaster, I would need to click the plus like 80 times or so to bring it to the top. If there was, say an edit mode, where you could type in a number in a textbox instead to instantly order the way you wanted.

I tried Google ads and very few of them were ever relevant, and the click-through was horrible. Granted, this was early on in the program, so maybe I should give it another shot.

OK... how about something to prevent coasters from being added to the track record twice? I looked at mine the other day and saw it has one ride three times, and i had to fix it manually.
For some people that's a feature, not a bug. People who count racers twice, for instance.

Yeah, but normally, it's a pain. I can never remember which are on my record (and i hate digging through lists) so if in doubt, i re-add anything i think i missed. Then i end up with the same thing multiple times.

People who count racers twice, for instance.

Sure, but those people are WRONG.

With all due respect to Jeff and the hard work he does for CB that is another good reason to have your track record on an Xcel spreadsheet in addition to a website.

Jeff - Sorry, redited. Didn't mean to offend.

That would be what Microsoft uses as an excuses.
lol, yeah. I count racers twice, but only if each side is different. I would not count Gemini as two, but PKI's racer is two. Since one side is a mirror, and not the same course.
I've got a couple of suggestions...

Fully integrate the News section into the forums. Make a new section of the forums where topics from the News Headlines go instead of having them on the main page.

In the Forums, on click go to first unread post. It's a lot easier and more efficient when you can go to the first unread post right away instead of having to sift through.

How about the ability to mark certain topics/forums as read while leaving others unread. There are times I may not have time to read one long trip report and want to come back to it, but have read the other trip reports and want to mark them as read.

A day at the park is what you make it!

Corey: That's something I've been considering for a long time, mostly because the current system causes duplication in code.

I vote for search by topic instead of (or in addition to) search by thread.

Hey even if the site never changes it's still the best site out there. Thanks again Jeff for a great site.
