Today a friend sent me a video he found on YouTube. The video is of a film shot on the opening day for the Euclid Beach Flying Turns in 1929. Searching YouTube, I two other Flying Turns videos. Doing a Google search turned up more information and pictures of the EBP Flying Turns and a link to this site.
I've read all of the posts on the 32 pages in this thread and haven't seen any reference to the information I'm posting below. I appoligize if it appears elsewhere on CoasterBuzz.

For a lot of people back then, a day at the amusement park was a social occasion that warranted dressing up. Probably for a lot of working people, the only day they could go was Sunday, another reason for dressing up. Nowadays, I wish some people I see at parks would be more covered up.
It might be a fun publicity stunt to get people in period costume to ride the Turns when it opens.
Amen to that. I'm not one for telling people what to wear, but some people should know better than to wear certain things. Kinda makes you wish for my stringent amusement park dress codes. How about a "no tuxedo, no service" rule? ;)

So anyway, how 'bout them Turns?
I'm giving the park the benefit of the doubt with this project. If this rumor is indeed true it's a bummer, but it won't keep me from going to enjoy Phoenix, Twister, Skooters, Flyers and the rest. It's not like were paying higher admission for a park that won't open a new major ride until Memorial Day or 4th of July because Knoebels is free!

Knoebels without the Flying Turns is like a nice, juicy and tender piece of Filet Mignon that isn't wrapped in bacon. ;)
Hmmmm, do you have another analogy for vegetarians?

Yep and some reacted as "aww man! I'm not going to Knoebels this summer!" Lame.because Knoebels is free!

How exactly is Knoebels free? Sure, it's free to walk around and do nothing, but the last time I went I sure spent a lot of money so I could actually ride something.
Like I said before, thank goodness my ride tickets have no expiration date since they now go back to 2006. And if The Flying Turns don't open, do you think I'm going to spend the gas money (which will most likely shoot through the roof by summer) to drive up and back to nowhere Pennsylvania? Highly unlikely.

I didn't see anybody saying you had to. We nowhere-ians don't care one way or the other where you drive or spend your money.
But, I can also understand wanting to wait until it's open to visit.
I'd really like to do the HP/KG/DP triangle again, but I'm not waiting until August to go to HP again. That's a mistake I will never repeat.
I will agree that calling the area "Nowhere Pennsylvania" insults the people who live there, but you have to understand that I'm a suburban person. Take me out of the suburbs or city, and I start getting slightly nervous:)
