Fly at the Speed of Fear (SFMM Flying Coaster)

I wasn't just making it up.. I happened to be on the Patent/Trademark site looking for an old Six Flags trademark and stumbled across it. I saw Tatsu too, but I couldn't figure out where it would fit in with any of the new names so ignored it. I guess it meaning "Dragon" makes a lot more sense now.

Give a fella credit where due..:)
(or look at my first post in this thread)

Sorry Jophish, I had never even seen that thread from a few weeks back. Credit granted :).
I don't really care, it was a lighthearted statement, hence the ":)"
TATSU? Reminds me of that girl band who pretended to be lesbian and from Russia.
/\ You mean T.A.T.U.? That lesbo-duo moniker isn't pronounced "ta-too." It was "tee ay tee you" - like the letters. Nothing too close to Tatsu.
yeah lets talk about pronounciation!
:)
Said - Tahhh su (The T is almost silent but still in there)

I think, I'm not sure, I'll go ask the Japanese Exchange student thats living with us to doulbe check.

Seems good pronunciation to me like Tsunami...

Oh no in a year they are going to be calling this coaster TA2:Trip to Fanstay Island and they will hire a midget to yell, "The Coaster, The Coaster" as it flys by. *** Edited 9/23/2005 1:59:58 PM UTC by dragonoffrost***

Watch the tram car please....
Did I say that Westcoasterman? I never mentioned SFA in that post at all & was just responding to my thoughts on the namae of the ride at SFmM.

Ohh & no offense but SFMM just borrowed the "ride out loud" slogan from SFA.....they've used that slogan on Roar since the beginning, not to be insulting mind you just letting you know where the slogan originated that's all.

Not to complain about SFMM getting the ride but the question is do they really need it at this time? they could've spent the money on some modern flats instead which is something I hear the park is lacking in.....coasters are nice & they satisfy a target demographic audience, but a great park is defined by the entire experience(including flats) & not just the coasters alone.

Unless the coaster in question is coming to SFA, right Batwing Fan? Another poorly run SF park. Give me a break.

Some of this "SFMM needs flats" crap is just a cover up for, "why that park instead of my homepark". It's so obvious.

SFMM really does need flats, though.

I think they'll name the flyer "Yell!" And then get a B&M hyper called "Holler!" Finally, they'll round out the bunch with another B&M standup called "Ouch, my nads!"

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I think it's cool name, it could have been worse:

Tatsu: Battle with Batman and Superman

What's so funny about that /\ is 'cause you hit it right on the nail.

See, this is a comment I usually do not understand when I read it. SFMM HAS FLAT-RIDES. The only reason why people assume this park doesn't have any flat-rides is because their amount of rollercoasters in such a densely packed park makes for the illusion that the park doesn't have any - it's ALSO attributed to the fact that all of the park's flatrides are NOT modern, but classics. See, this park has a good amount of non-kiddie flats -

- Sierra Twist (Schwarzkopf Bayern Kurve)

- Atom Smasher (Himalaya)

- Swashbuckler (Chance Yo-Yo)

- Spin Out (Chance Rotor)

- Buccaneer (Intamin Bounty)

- Grinder Gearworks (Hrubetz Round-Up)

- Circus Wheel (Sellner Tilt-a-Whirl)

- Scrambler (Scrambler)

- Freefall (Intamin First-Gen. Freefall)

See that's the thing: they could use some inverting flats for example.

Not one of those flats listed inverts, which can be just as much of a thrill as a good coaster,I'm not complaining that SFA in all likelyhood will not get a coaster(at least PKD is) but SFMM just could benefit from something as simple as a modern freefall ala acrophobia or drop zone for example.

A simple ride like that which hasn't been built on the west coast(not counting the S&S freefalls here) could do wonders for SFMM just as easily as a coaster can is all I'm saying.

9 flat rides = a good amount?

Agreed. Nine flat rides is certainly not "a good amount" in my book, and definitely not in a park the size of SFMM.

Especially when some of them rarely even operate. :)

-Nate

Yeah... since Atom Smasher (Himalaya) didn't operate all summer and kept that "an accident just happened and we didn't clean up!" look! When I was at the park in June, Spin Out, Freefall and Atom Smasher weren't operating.

I would say so, considering Cedar Point* only has 3 more true flatrides than Magic Mountain and nobody ever makes a comment about them lacking FLATRIDES. And please don't bring the whole, "well, Cedar Point has more modern ones" or "at least all of them operate on a single day" to the table. That's besides the point I'm trying to make. And that point is that Magic Mountain does have flatrides, and I find it funny that a lot of enthusiasts consistantly say they have a lack of them, which is hardly the case. There are plenty of parks with less flats, and don't get the bagging treatment. Knott's, for example.

Uh, actually, a lot of comments on this board regarding some of the negative aspects of CP are related to their lack of flat rides. I've seen it time and time again.
