Firehawk Coaster Credit?

Maybe ACE should just come up for some hard & fast rules for counting coasters. We could split hairs all day and all year, but here are what I go by for my coaster counts

1. Unless you're a kid, kiddie coasters (Jr. Gemini and Woodstock at CP) do not count.

2. Unless a coaster is SIGNIFIGANTLY changed, it does not count

3. Different weather conditions or times of day do not count

4. If a coaster is moved to a different location, it counts

That's a few of my basics.

^^ I'm imagining riding it with you, as well as alone. Imaginary coaster, two different environments... two credits. Ca-ching ca-ching.

Does a Gravitron count as a coaster credit? The things you lay on go up and down as the ride spins around?

just kidding...

No. a coaster must have track and some sort of restraint system.

I still say Moosh caught Mamba on an *extraordinary* day...

For me, it was no better (or worse) than any other Morgan *so-called* hyper... ;)

Yeah, I was kidding. Hence the just kidding and smiley guy.

Restraint system? I've been on Wild Mouses (mice?) that had no restraints. If memory serves, Euclid Beach Thriller had no restraints.

...and some people think my method is strict? I'm not sure if Hopman is serious or not but I'll address his proposed "rules":

1. Unless you're a kid, kiddie coasters (Jr. Gemini and Woodstock at CP) do not count.

Care to explain in greater detail this rule? Do you mean one can only count a kiddie coaster if ridden as a child? Are you implying that because it's only a kiddie coaster and much smaller than it's "real" conterparts that it shouldn't count? Or is it your intention to say that because kiddie coasters are made for kids that adults who ride them can't count them?

In my opinion if you ride it, you count it...kiddie, family, adult, or however you want to classify the coaster. Once ridden, never recounted.

2. Unless a coaster is SIGNIFIGANTLY changed, it does not count

So how are you defining "significant"? Percentage of change? If it's changed 49.9999% or less you can't count it but if changed 50.0001 percent or more you can? Lots of gray areas there.

3. Different weather conditions or times of day do not count.

I definitely agree 100% with that.

4. If a coaster is moved to a different location, it counts.

Why so? because of the new/different experience at the new location? If so, then why not count different weather conditions? They offer different experiences too.

a coaster must have track and some sort of restraint system.

What coasters don't have tracks? Even a bobsled coaster has a track...it's a U-shaped trough but it determines the path of the train. And you can find coasters without restraints. Indiana Beach's T'ggr has none. Neither do some mouse coasters.

I suspect many would have a lot of issues with your proposed rules, lol ;)

1. If you are a child (say 12 & under) you MAY count the kiddie coaster. If you are and Adult you may count if ONLY if you ride it with YOUR child or another blood realtive (niece, nephew, grandchild, sibling)

2. Signifigant as in an element being removed or added (i.e. removing the loop fro Son of Beast) or the trains being changed to a different style, say from sit down to floorless. Or even enclosing the coaster.

3. Okay, we agree there

4. I count because it may be remnamed and the sceenery will bo different. This ONLY coint if it changes parks. (ie X-flight moving from GL to KI)

Why should it matter who the kid is riding next to you? Yours, relative, kid of a friend, complete stranger...it's immaterial. If you've ridden it, it counts.

2. Signifigant as in an element being removed or added (i.e. removing the loop fro Son of Beast) or the trains being changed to a different style, say from sit down to floorless. Or even enclosing the coaster.

As I said, a lot of gray areas there. Everyone will have a different idea of what defines significant.

Fine, but you're still counting experiences in which case why not count anything that offers the rider a different experience such as front of train versus back? Daytime versus nighttime? And so on. If you want to count experiences thats fine...but in my opinion it's not a coaster count. It's an experience count ;)

I only choose to count coasters. In my opinion X-Flight and Firehawk are physically the same coaster. The fact that it has moved is irrelevant to me. That would be like hiring a company to jack my house up off the foundations and move it to a city, then telling my friends I had a new house. It's not a new house...it's my old house in a new location.

A standard set of rules will never work because you'd never get everyone to agree.

Okay. I get the point. Fine. Let's drop rule #1.

BTW, Mamoosh, I check that Jeep vid of yours. Cool tech.

Hopman - you can keep rule #1 for yourself if you want. I just don't think there should be a set standard that all should follow.

And yeah, I thought that was pretty cool too. I'm surprised a park like Disney isn't using it on their rides or in their parks somehow.

Let's agre on this: If you ride it, then it counts.

As for the Jeep thing, It really seems quasi futuristic, like something you see on Star Trek.

Might be cool for other applications well.

I guess moosh doesn't consider siamese twins as two individuals. ;)
Closet thing to siamees twins in coasters would be racers. If that's the case, each side of the racer counts as one coaster.

Makes me wonder how I would count siamese twins... ;)
You coun them as two people sharing some part of their body. So, using that logic, A racer would be considard two coaster sharing a part of three, like spports or the station.
