Ummm. True?
I'd gladly give you the money if you could offer the same benefits for the same price.
Until then, SF gets it.
Dave Dragon, go Dave Dragon, and the Star Force Five!
Honestly, it's people with attitudes like that one that give anyone who has a remote interest in roller coasters a bad reputation for being whiny and obsessive.
I don't like it when someone cuts in line ahead of me, and I'm not afraid to say something to them. What I DON'T have a problem with, is a controlled system of allowing people to grab a virtual "spot" in line, and return later to get their ride. If a company can offer that service, and manage a profit from it, then more power to them.

I never had the stomach for mindless, meaningless complaining that in the end serves no good - not even fodder for a fun debate.
I just KNEW there was something we could disagree on....I *love* a fun debate, even if it serves no purpose... :)
Parks will NOT *abandon* these types of benefits, not when they're SO profitable....hopefully they WILL learn something and administer these programs PROPERLY...
FOr instance, build ALL new rides with two entrance queues...the queue for Pandemonium was pure....pandemonium. ;)
Really, I think its the FlashPass fans that seem to be whining about the long waits in line. If you no longer have a tolerance for some basic realities of amusement parks, then go to the parks when its less crowded, and allow the rides to function the way that they should.
I go to parks to ride coasters, not to cut in front of people. I am not a fan of auctions for access, Q-Bot scams or thrill park dysfunction. But if folks want to encourage that sort of practice, more power to ya.
I dont see a problem with the way gadv does it. I can't vouch for the other parks though.
I mean this in the nicest way possible. You have a very skewed outlook on reality, get a clue. Maybe you should take a break from your rollercoaster fantasy world for a little while and examine what life is really like beyond ACE.
No need to "waste my time doing actual work"?
I work 45-50+ hours a week for a software company, and I only get salary for 40, then I have a part time job working for A&F, I'm helping my friend out in opening his own restaurant/food stand in the mall, and I have a personal side business with a partner right now that we are trying to make successful for ourselves, so I no longer have to deal with the software company. Not to mention to hours I spend in the gym trying to stay in shape. It appears to me that I waste TOO MUCH time working, and not enough time playing. If only there was a way to get the most play out of what little free time I have.
I do go to amusement parks when they are the least crowded, if i have a chance... hence the reason I've never needed a Q-Bot.
Like I said, it's a business. It all comes down to what people will pay for, and if people will pay for virtual queuing, then hey.....
edit: q-bot/fastlane has no effect whatsoever on a ride's "funtion" (i believe you meant to type FUNCTION) - The ride still functions the exact same way, the line still functions the exact same way, except now there's some people joining you in the station who paid a couple of extra dollars to have a machine save their spot in line while they went and grabbed a pepsi and took a bathroom break... B.F.D..

Ooohhh! More power to me!? Can I have invisibility? Or super speed? Or the strength of 1000 mules?
No, I got it! I want the abilty to ride without standing in a long, sucky line.
Oh wait, q-bot already gives me that power.
You're right - more power to me. :)
I don't get what is so hard to comprehend about the whole situation. Other than enthusiasts needing something to complain about, maybe?
Next month, the smoking issue again.....

No need to go into personal attacks. I respect your right to believe what ever you want. I’m sorry you feel that you are being held hostage by this discussion. Not sure why the whiny enthusiasts just don’t let this dead horse die already. Maybe the issue is not as trivial as you make it out to be. *** Edited 3/28/2006 8:10:33 PM UTC by rc-madness***
A scam would imply that somebody puts money in, and doesn't get anything out of it. If someone buys a flash pass, they're getting something out of it.
Since you opted out of the flash pass, you're not being scammed on anything, either.
Of course, it once again comes down to the fact that its taking place at Six Flags. Remember when TTD first opened and the lines were so long that they were letting people leave for bathroom breaks, and re-enter the line in the spot they were at when they left? It's the exact same principle. - You give up a couple of bucks, and a little computer (instead of a numbered "bathroom pass") holds your place in line, and when it comes time for you to come back, you merge back in. (usually at the station for q-bot, but you also have a designated wait time, as opposed to the bathroom where you can't control how long it takes sometimes.)

Appriciate the scam definition. I'll come up with a better term.
The ONLY difference there is that Cedar Point extended it as a courtesy, while Six Flags charges a small fee for it. That's capitalism. Deal with it.
