EL TORO DROP COMPLETE!!!

I don't see them on the other Intamin wood coaster trains. Will wait and see once they are installed.

Let's not get all hostile now mudinthevayne.

I guess when i was looking at it I thought the back of that seat was actually a headrest, ala Xcelerator. But now i see that there is no headrest at all...and the back of those seats are around shoulder height, if not below.

See...proved your point and didnt really need to YELL!

Sorry 40belowbeef, didn't mean to come off as hostile. I was just trying to stress the point that they aren't head rests. I've seen like 6 threads (not all from this site) go the hell because one person suggests they are and well, you can figure out where it goes from there. SORRY! ;) *** Edited 5/17/2006 9:22:25 PM UTC by mudinthevayne***

Ride count on the Voyage: 40 Most consecutive rides on the Voyage: 36 Day after thigh bruises from airtime: Priceless
No problemo. ;)
where's the queue going to go?
down the middle of the track so you can play matador!
OLE!! ;)

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

All I have to say is please feel fortunate if you get to ride el toro this season. SFGADV is at least ten hours from me. I envy those who live closer to the park then I. I'm almost crying.

Don't hate the player, hate the game! *** Edited 5/18/2006 5:54:36 AM UTC by CoasterDiscern***

I'd have to say I feel pretty fortunate to live so close and spend the majority of every weekend there. Its hard to put yourself in somebody's shoes who drives or flies from 10 hrs away to ride the tallest, fastest, rollercoaster on earth only to have it closed during their visit. Kinga Ka ain't got nuttin on me. It's almost humorous to be at the park and here people moaning and complaining about how kinga ka is closed and blah blah blah and they drove all this way. I've even heard some people say that the ride was built for publicity only and that it stands mostly as a novelty. Well, I don't know six flags' intent when they built the ride but I can say that it is indeed a ride and I and millions of other people have been on it, including the one international (i think hes from thailand) ride op who doesnt speak much english but can hold his hands up and show you with his fingers that he has ridden Kinga Ka 25 times. Ok, im blabbering now but yes I understand your point and yes people like me who live so close to what i would call a mega amusemnt park are fortunate.
Whether it was the park's intent or not, KK stands as a PR stunt. They invested all this money in a new "incredible" attraction but it's known more for frequent breakdowns than satisfied riders. A ride of that caliber shouldn't be hit or miss in it's second season- especially when another ride like it is now in it's fourth season- it's not fair to use a ride like that to lure people to the park and then expect them to understand why it's not operating. When you drive a distance and pay full price to enter a park, you have every right to expect you'll be getting everything you drove and paid for.
yeah man, i totally agree and understand. thats why im saying im fortunate that i live so close and have a season pass + parking. If I dont have any real plans on a particular weekend, I'll hop over to the park and just spend the day there. I'm there quite a bit and Kinga Ka is definately either closed or "broke down" the majority of the time. I think I saw it have one good day this season so far where it was up n running dual station loading with happy customers all day. It's sad and unfortunate I know. I hear the people walking around the park complaining about it. But tis life...nuthing i can do about it *** Edited 5/18/2006 2:31:13 PM UTC by DorneyDante***
The issue isn't just with Kingda Ka though. Top Thrill Dragster which has been open 4 years had downtime for a period at the end of last season.

Yes these rides are PR Stunts. Poorly designed PR stunts. I am not going to believe all the blame falls on Great Adventure's shoulders. Yes they should take some but not as much as they are getting from this unless some concrete proof of the park's neglect or a fault in the operations/maintenance of the park is found.

Like has been said before, If you go to the park on any given day, any ride may be non operational. There is a sign outside the park that states what rides are not operational and Six Flags even has put that Kingda Ka will be closed temporarily on it's web site. I think the park is doing everything it can do to try and keep the public from going and being disappointed. But some people will still go and pay to enter the park and complain that they came all this way to ride the ride and now it's not running.

Also you still have many other rides at the park to enjoy.

I *do* kinda put some blame on the parks (well, chains)....*I* wouldn't have signed on for an Intamin launch after seeing Xcelerator's performance. And it would SEEM at this point that the taller they go, the LESS reliable they are....even after a few years to "work out the bugs".

What CP and GAdv *did* need...not more bugs, more Exterminators... ;)

See, I managed to squeeze in a small *advert* for the spinny mice, yet AGAIN... Yay me! :)

well lets just hope Intamin can deliver a reliable wood coaster :)
Gosh darn dammit, you guys are smart buggers let me tell ya. The intellegence that comes from CoasterBuzz everyday astonishes me. I really do mean it.

Keep on rocking in the roller world!

oops! *** Edited 5/19/2006 7:39:33 AM UTC by CoasterDiscern***

It may have been a poor choice to buy the ride. But I still fault Intamin more than either SF or CF for the reliability of the two stratacoasters.

Yes more Exterminators would be nice and I wouldn't be surprised if the next coaster that pops up at GAdv would be a spinning mouse. But that probably would be a few years away since they now seem to be trying to change the focus to what is already there. Batman the Chiller now operational and the change in plans for the onsite hotel are good examples to prove this.

..Ironic, don't you think?

TTD, in it's second season, was still suffering from cable snaps and breakdowns as well, am I right? These two rides, whether you want to believe it or not, are going to have issues left and right throughout the years to come...so ride it while you can. Storm Runner, however, is still running like a charm :)

looks like El Toro will start testing any day now! It has been stated numerous times that they are shooting for a Memorial Day weekend opening. Also, does anyone know what those "wings" are on the backrests of the trains? Could they be to provide support for the shoulders to keep the rider in the train? *** Edited 5/20/2006 3:57:35 PM UTC by Goliath Freak***
