El Toro, Announced

Richie, believe it or not, Ka has been running pretty darn consistently as of late. I was there for the season passholders only event last Friday, and while I can't testify for the major part of the day, in the four hours I was there, the ride didn't stop launching for a breakdown once. And while the ticketing thing is kind of annoying, the people stationed at various points in the line really help to keep it moving as efficiently as possible. I was very impressed.

And, oh yeah, can't wait for the "boring new woodie" next year! ;)

Haha. Very nice.

Nitro Dave - That is really good news about Ka. I went to Great Adv. a few times this year, and I only got one ride on it. (Granted it was a great ride - but breakdowns and shutdowns, messed me up a bit on those days...even with the bot).

Now that September is here, my riding season is over. (I only look on these boards about once per week and I seldom post off-season.) I know I am missing out on some serious fall fun, but those are the breaks. At least I only work part-time during the summer.

What I hope happens is that this new coaster helps to relieve the capacity at some of the other rides (including Ka). One of the "suits" told me, earlier in the year, that people don't go to Disney and expect to do everything in one day and that the same goes for 6 flags. He does have a point. You can't do EVERYTHING there in one day (water park, safari, shows, all rides). Of course what makes it harder is when you vow to do one set of rides (lets say coasters) and many of them are down...Bot or no bot, it hurts and increases the wait times on everything else. Please Mr. 6, leave the bulls (Rodeo Stampede) alone.

Even as 6 FLags closes some of the smaller parks in the chain, (And I know that hurts those of you affected), at least they realize that Great Adv. could be a big money maker - if they get their act together. And as previously posted by others, at least they are trying - and proved it with 2 big additions in two years. I wonder how they are paying for all of this.

Dannerman - Sadly, I was thinking what you were thinking and it will be hard on my son. (All 43" of him) He LOVED Phoenix, Twister and Jack Rabbit. When he sees a wooden coaster, he now wants to ride, and I don't want to be the one to tell him he won't be able to.

Have a great night everyone.

Here's To Shorter Lines & Longer Trip Reports!

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before or not, seeing as how I haven't read all of the pages. :)

But, does anyone thing that like the first half of the ride resembles Intamins very own Goliath. I thought they seemed to look quite alike myself.

BTW.. This ride looks aweome. Air-time is gonna kick! :)

i'm not sure what to put here..

This is my first in this topic. I WAS going to complain about it being short, but then I watched the video. Imho, it's long enough for me to be excited about.

THEN I was going to moan about the ride only running 2 trains, but I didn't design El Toro so how in the world could I possibly know that 3 trains would benefit the capacity or not.

So I started to panic. What ligitimate problem could I have with ET? "Quick...Think..."

OOOHH! Got it...

It's being built at a SF.

Even though it looks like a ride that I would enjoy, I'm planning on holding out for a few years. I can only take SFGAdv once every 5 or so years. My visit this year left me very bitter. (Kingda Ka was Kinda Klosed, Long lines and closed rides everywhere ON A THURSDAY!) If I hear more positive TR's about SFGAdv, especially concerning lines and crowd control, I may frequent the park more often.

I am happy that they are getting this new coaster. I find it funny there is a possibility that so many people will go to the park next year and it'll be one of 3 or 4 rides they get the whole day. If I could ride all coasters and some flats in ONE day at SFGAdv, I would be there at least once a year. It's only a 4 hour drive.

Oh? This isn't a SF bash thread? Sorry, I forgot. The new coaster?...

It looks pretty good. It's no "The Voyage", but it doesn't bite either. Those turns at the end look like a lot of fun. They remind me of RCT when I get lazy finishing a coaster design. I would like to see just ONE MORE DROP one the out run before the back run, but it's still going to be an airtime machine.

There is a chance that I'll ride it sometime before 2010.

Someone posted a pic from this site earlier:

http://www.prnewswire.com/mnr/sixflags/22808/

It's got a picture of the entire layout (the one that has already been given on page 3 of this thread) and a longer video.

Just watching the video pumps me up. It was put together very well. It shows a "fly-by" view as well as the "on-ride". The music is good. ;)

No! Why won't you guys listen to me? The reason this ride will suck is because it does not have a white stripe on the track and because it is an almost clone of Talon (though a bit taller and more compact).

;)

El Toro already looked great but it really looks awesome in the video that UBRhino posted the link to above. Seeing it in the fly by view reveals a totally different monster then the on ride vid does IMO.That drop really does seam vertical and those twist and turns at the end have me almost more excited then those sweet looking bunny hops. That first drop and those twist and turns looks absolutly nuts in the fly by view.

Between EL Toro and Voyage I'm going to be in airtime heaven...drools

New coaster, and a potential top 10 woodie at that = SSSSSWWWWWEEEEETTTTT!!! Definitely there on opening weekend. Very nice of SF to add yet another kiddie area. I'll save my positive/negative comments after my first few back row rides. That video got me drooling and to smoke a cig.

You won't see me coming...

They're going to celebrate by closing down Kingda Krap. Which, when you think about it, really isn't a stretch.

It's the most original SF woodie layout since The Boss. I think it looks great. Considering the height to length ratio, this thing should zing.

Long live the Big Bad Wolf

Lord, we thank thee . . .

Fate is the path of least resistance.

It's also the first new Six Flags wood coaster since The Boss (unless you count Timberhawk at Enchanted Village.)

I know that a video animation of a ride that hasn't been built really isn't going to be 100% accurate but I'm still having a hard time understanding why anyone would have an issue with this coaster's layout. It has huge airtime hills, speed hills and more twists and turns than coasters defined as twisters.

I guess I just feel like a bit of a fool because I don't see what the downside is.

Boss, Villain, Mexican Medusa were all 2000 SF woodies.
Oh yeah. And those :)
I can't believe you people! This is NOT the first Intamin wood in the States...have you forgotten about that beutiful racer north of Chicago??

OK, OK, not quite the same ;-). But, if after 24 years American Eagle is giving the amazing rides it still does, I will expect nothing less from this more advanced Intamin ride.

ALL of the new rides this year are great. I am hoping to make it back to Holiday World this summer, but that first trip to Great Adventure will likely have to wait at least another year :-(

That's okay though...the longer I wait, the more improvements the park will make, and the better experience it will be. I win!

Okay, Mexican Medusa ties the Boss for the most original SF woodie layout prize (I thought it was pre 2000). Still El Toro looks really cool. It's not in any way a clone and peeps aren't happy. I don't get it either. If you don't like it, send it to Iowa, please. :)

I kinda feel sorry for someone who considers American Eagle a good coaster. Sure the outbound is ok and fun, The rest of it is junk IMHO.

Tear it down! and build a steelie :)

Where in the heck is PFF? Someone finally built what he wanted and he doesn't even show! Plug n play plug n play...
